My skin is moderately oily and some days it seems to work better than others- which probably had to do with my stress level. If I use it, I can go about 4 hours before I start truly noticing oil on my face. If I do not use it, I can go about 1 hour before I am blotting my face with the nearest tissue. Hope that helps!

I have oily skin and I contest that this worked great for me. It did need to be set with a finishing powder. I have tried everything that my Sephora has and I can a test that only this primer was able to stay for more than an 8 hour work shift for me. Hope that helps.

Yes! This has helped my oily skin a lot! I also use the Korres lotion with it too and that helps. I also use Korres' exfoliant and that helps SO much as well. It could be the foundation youre wearing and/or powder.

I also have a problem with oil, but typically around mid-day is when I see the shine creeping up. This is the best primer I've used to control oil. I've used Smashbox Photo Finish Light and Bare Minerals Prime Time Oil Control. The Bare Minerals primer left a flaky residue on my skin and the bottle did not last long. The Smashbox primer was OK, but I didn't see a noticeable difference in controlling oil and shine. I would recommend using this primer under a water-based foundation as opposed to a silicone-based foundation.

At the time I purchased this, my skin was intensely oily. I couldn't wear any makeup without seeing oil bleed through. This was the only oil controlling product that helped. It doesn't prevent you from getting oily for the entire day, but it does help control your oil so you don't get oily as fast. I would suggest asking for a sample if you can, and trying it out. Do not over-use a primer, because it will generally minimize the helpfulness of it.

I have a super oily t-zone. I mean... it's bad. When I don't wear this primer, I have to apply powder 5-6 times a day to keep the (I just ran a marathon) shine at bay. This is the first product that has actually worked. Ask for a free sample at your local Sephora if you want to try it before you buy it.

It does help oily skin but use it sparingly on your dry areas such as the corners of your mouth which in my case dried me up a bit too much.

I definitely have extremely oily skin, nothing ever truly worked on me in regards to oil control... This primer didn't work for me at all, it sits on my skin, and won't absorb, it comes off with a slight rub. And for me, it does NOT mattify nor minimize pore at all!

I have very oily skin and also get shiny within an hour. This did not help at all. Dont waste your money. I would suggest that you talk to a sephora employee and get a bunch of samples and see what works best for you. Also make sure you are using oil-free moisturizer and sunscreen. Also find an oil fighting face wash (dermalogica has a good one) just so you can battle the oil in every way possible. I do love the Makeup Forever HD Finishing powder because it is so fine it sticks to the areas you normally get oily. Also setting sprays help. Try putting on foundation and then RIGHT after set with something like urban decay allnighter and then put a small amount of foundation on top of that (I know it sounds like a lot but if your makeup slides a lot from the oiliness like mine does doing this really helps it stay put) This helps from sweating and just keeping the makeup in place. Also find a good primer, right now I like Tarte Clean Slate. Hope this helps! (also exfoliate allover but especially where your pores are largest because this is where most the oil comes out)

Question
Does this work with Bare Minerals foundation?
My favorite primer was Laura Geller's Welcome Matte. Haven't found something that works as well since Sephora stopped selling it. Does this mattifying primer work well with Bare Minerals original powder foundation? Some that I have tried ball up when I buff on the foundation...

I use it with Bare Minerals and I haven't had a problem at all. Just make sure use a thin layer, and you allow it to dry prior to putting on the bare minerals, and you should be good.

Hey! Yes it does work very well with Bare Minerals mineral foundation. Gives you almost complete coverage, and you actually only need to use a little foundation to give you a really smooth look. Too much foundation, and it'll look a little cake-faced.

Hi, I use BareMinerals matte foundation and this primer works wonderful with it. It does not ball up (Korres is more of a creamy consistency than a gel consistency) and I do not get any dry patches like some other primers cause.

Hope this helps!

For me, this primer + bareminerals = winning combo. However, my ritual has always been to wait a little bit before applying my foundation (i.e. apply primer, brush teeth, apply foundation), so that may be a factor as well.

Hi! I am fair skinned as well with neutral undertones and have similar problems. This primer is made neutral and translucent. It doesn't add too much color at all. It just seems to smoothe the skin and even natural tones.

I am as fair as can be (always the lightest shade possible in foundations) and I can assure you that this primer is perfectly fine. Once you spread it out it turns sheer and doesn't leave any trace of a tint.

I know you can return any product @ a Sephora store. They have always been great with me. I am not afraid to try an expensive product with Sephora because I know if it doesn't work for me they will accept my returns. It is about the only place I buy make up for just that reason. The same goes for expensive perfume.

If you have a receipt saved on your computer you can print it out and take it to a sephora store, or you can just take the product to the store and they can look it up for you. They are really helpful even if you dont have a receipt. I think its all in their system.

Question
Does this have silicone?
The other Korres primers are advertised as having no silicone, but there is no mention in the description of the mattifying one about silicone. I didn't see any ingredients listed that end in '-icone' but maybe there's a silicone derivative by a different name? I just found it odd that the other primers specifically mention there's no silicone and this one doesn't. I have oily skin and am looking for a primer without silicone since mine keep pilling on me.

If it has silicone the amount is so little it barely registers. I have a horror of silicones because I know how bad they are for oily, acne-prone skin (in spite of what everyone else will tell you). This primer I can wear w/o fearing of waking up with pimples. I'm not much of a primer user (I got this as a sample), but if I felt inclined to try one this is the one I would reach for.

It does have silicone, but it's very far down on the list of ingredients. Polymethylsilsesquioxane is a silicone. (You should not only look for ingredients end in -icone but also -xane. Don't forget, silica is NOT a silicone and can be beneficial to sensitive/oily/acne-prone types. I just started using this, and if I encounter problems, I'll post a review.

I don't specifically know about the silicone, but I do have very oily/ acne prone skin, and you will NOT find another primer as amazing for oily skin as this! It protects my skin from foundation that can clog pores, and makes my coverage go on smooth. It also has an amazing smell and keeps me mattified all day! If you buy it, you will not regret it!!

Nope, no silicone, which is what sold me. I'm not a fan of silicone-based primers (which is what most primers are), and this hands down gives me a much better base for makeup application. This one is water-based, not silicone-based.

This primer is meant to be applied before makeup to help your foundation or concealer apply more smooth & evenly. It does not take the place of skin care such as eye creams.

Question
How does this compare to Hourglass?
I'm always trying to find a cheaper alternative to Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. I love it but it's not very nice to the pocket but at the same time I'm not willing to sacrifice quality. Which one do you like more and would purchase the next time?

I have both primers also, and prefer Korres for the following specific reasons:
1. I've found Hourglass, like other primers that contain some level of silicone, can cause "pilling" with makeup, especially around the eye area. You have to be kinda careful about not letting the primer form clumps when you're spreading other makeup like foundation on, and this Korres primer does a MUCH better job of not allowing this to happen because it's water-based.
2. I personally like the FEEL of this better than Hourglass. You know how primers with silicone have that, hmmmm, I dunno the word...almost greasy sheen (I even think it feels creepy ha)? This Korres primer doesn't, again because it's water-based.
3. It makes makeup application a DREAM because it feels like a moisturizer instead of a primer.

I use Hourglass from time to time, but after I use it, I always ask myself why I did it, and I go right back to Korres Mattfying Pomegranate lol....

I have used both the Hourglass and the Korres primers. I think they are similar in some ways, but I prefer the Korres one as of late. I feel that the Hourglass primer washes out my already pale complexion, and if I want to wear it alone I need to warm up my face with bronzer. However, it goes on so smoothly to the skin and feels so nice. I also like that the Hourglass doesn't have a scent.

The Korres primer has the perfect amount of pigment to even out my skintone. I find that as my day progresses, my skin looks better, and I have found that the Hourglass doesn't have the same long-term perfecting as Korres (for my skin). I LOVE that the Korres primer is 94% natural, as using natural products is very important to me.

I would choose Korres for everyday use, and for those days when you just need something to even out your skin and help your blush adhere to the skin. I would use Hourglass for full makeup days, or special occasions because of the price and my personal preference.
