I have very oily skin and have never known this product to dry my face out. If you have sensitive skin, I would suggest only using it once or twice a week. I don't think it's good to use deep cleaning products like this any more than that. It's also very important to use an oil-free moisturizer when you have oily or acne prone skin. That will help with any drying you may experience from certain products.

This is not bad like the other clay masks out there, it is china white clay. So it is a lot more gentler. After anything that treats your skin from oil, bacteria, or acne, they do dry your skin out. So any treatments like so, use a good hydrating moisturizer or serum.

I didn't feel really dry after using it. With a clay mask you will get alot more oil absorbed so it is normal I think to feel a little dry. I always apply my moisturizer right after I use it.

I do find that this product drys out my skin and my sister has the same problem with it and she has acne pron skin. What works for her is using a nice oil free serum in the evening to help with dry patches and using a thin oil free sunscreen during the day. But over all the mask has been help a bit, but not an kind of marical as of yet.

I have mildly sensitive skin where few products are way too harsh, but most are okay if in moderation. With this mask, my skin didn't get red or irritated at all. In fact, I noticed a radiant glow after using. I'd say give it a try and return if you really don't like it.

If you're looking for a mask that works like the sticky little nose strips to clear your pores, this isn't it. The charcoal absorbs excess oil and the dirt trapped in that excess oil, but it doesn't adhere to the plugs and pull them out. This isn't a peel off mask, you have to soak and rinse it off with warm water.

I have the most stubborn blackheads. I've tried other masks (peel and rinse), Biore strips and exfoliants and it seems like nothing works. I don't want to get my hopes up with this. How many uses before I notice a difference? I don't want to give up on it too soon either.

It is important to open your pores before you apply the mask. Hold a hot wet washcloth on your face until it cools off, that should do the trick! Don't leave it on for more than 10 minutes, it will continue to dry and pull out your skins natural oils (and you only want it to pull out the gunk, not the good stuff). If you're using it as a spot treatment, you can leave it on all night. After you rinse off, just make sure to moisturize! I also recommend only using it once a week to avoid over-drying.

This face mask works just like any other. First you have to cleanse your face to remove any surface dirt and grime (which would lessen the efficacy of the mask if left behind), and then apply the mask evenly on the parts of your face where you need it. Don't apply it to parts of your face where there aren't any issues. I usually wait 15-20 minutes for it to dry (it usually says to leave it on for 10 but there's no harm in a few more minutes since this is a natural product). Then when it's dry and you feel like you've waited long enough, just wash it off. It's not a peel so you have to actually rinse it off with water. It works much better if you wash it off with a washcloth or towel. Hope this helps!

I use this at night, after I have cleansed my face. I apply a little over a quarter size amount to a slightly moist face (face should be completely covered), leave on for 10 minutes, or until dry. This will tighten as it dries. Then, rinse of the product and look at your refreshed skin!

remove make up, wash face, dry face and apply, avoiding the eye and lip area. Wait for it to dry, preferably do not speak because the clay will crack. Wait for it to dry and rinse off with warm water. Final rinse, cold water to close pores.

Use after cleansing skin. Use a warm face cloth over skin to open pores, apply mask on t- zone area if you have combination skin or if oily than all over face. Wait 10-15 minutes to dry then rinse off with warm water. Apply toner and facial treatments( serums, moisturizers). I would use this mask at night to unwind and relax.

answer 7
1)remove all make up
2) splash your face with warm water (to open pores)
2) pat face dry
3) smooth on a layer all over your face, stay clear of your eyes and lips. You want to coat your skin till the black evenly coats and covers your skin tone- don't go too thick,
4) sit back, relax till the mask has dried ( around 7-10 min) avoid moving your face, just sit still.
5) look in the mirror, if most of it is dry you can now wash it off with warm water and finish up with a splash of cool water to close up the pores

This mask isn't as drying as most, but since you have dry skin with a problem T-zone, I would suggest only using it on your T-zone. There's no need to risk over-drying your skin on areas of your face that aren't too much of an issue. Also, this mask won't be able to do much for your pores if you use it only every other week. Your pores would clog back up given too much time. I suggest trying 1-2 times a week on your T-zone ONLY. Hope this helps!

Question
Is this normal?
When I apply the mask to my face, it stings for a little bit and flushes my skin. Is this the "active charcoal"? Or is this not supposed to happen? It isn't extremely painful or anything, it just stings for 15-20 seconds. It does flush my skin right away though... enough to see my pink/red face in the areas not fully covered by the mask. My mask tingles as it dries -- I suppose this could be considered 'stinging' if you weren't used to it, but it's normal for me, every time I've used it. As long as your skin isn't negatively affected by the mask, I think it might just have to be something you either get used. :)

I recently quit using this mask. It worked great for me in my 20's but now i'm in forties! I just repurchased after not using for many years. I had some congestion on forehead. I found it stung my skin as well and my skin was a bit red after. It is not easy to get off without a washrag. I just purchased mario badescu mask (orange tonic). It is not as drying and my skin looks better after 2 uses. I do love origins plantscription regimen.

I think it's normal for it to tingle mildly for a few minutes initially and that can lead to a bit of redness. I like to use it in the evenings or right before bed to give my skin a chance to deal overnight and look fabulous the next morning.

What would not be normal is if the redness or even the tingling persists. If it does, please do not continue using it.

I have found the same problem. I usually have very dry skin, and have had less than a handful of pimples in my life. as of recently I have been dealing with some sight acne on my chin, and some clogged (raised white areas) pores. Every time I use this mask on my chin (after cleaning and steaming) I wake up the next day with some nasty pimples. A product rep at sephora told me this is the mask doing its job and bringing existing pimples to the surface. I am trying the mask again after a more thorough steam and am crossing my fingers for it to dry out the possible- pimples that seem to be beneath my skin rather than bringing them out painfully.
