Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment

What it is: An intensive weekly treatment that nourishes each strand, increasing strength and manageability, leaving hair soft, shiny and smooth. What it does: Restore Mask Treatment is formulated with Living Proof's moisture-controlling molecule, PolyfluoroEster, to restore the protective layer on dry or damaged hair and reduce hair's porosity by 100%. Restore makes dry or damaged hair look, feel, and behave like virgin hair and increases hair's resistance to breakage up to nine times while healing, protecting, and preventing further damage. What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens- Sulfates- Synthetic Dyes- Petrochemicals- Phthalates- GMOs- TriclosanWhat else you need to know: Virgin hair has a protective layer that is completely intact, which is why it is in such great condition. But frequent washing, heat styling and processing damages this protective layer. Hair becomes very porous and unable to seal in moisture. Living Proof scientists discovered a way to restore that protective layer and reduce hair's porosity. And because Restore can do this without weighing hair down, it helps stop the cycle of dryness and damage.Research results: After 5 uses of Restore Shampoo and Mask Treatment, hair is nine times more resistant to breakage.

Question
WIll this weigh down fine hair?
My hair is fine and doesn't have much volume, but is dry at the ends, so I'm thinking of trying this product. Would it weigh my hair down?

I have the deluxe sample, and I plan to buy more. I have fine hair and I love this stuff. It makes my hair feel nice and also gives in volume, which is something normal conditioners usually don't do.

answer 2
I think it depends on not how fine your hair is but how much hair you have. I have enough hair, that even though it is fine, I can use this mask on my ends and it won't effect the greasiness of my roots, because I have a lot of hair. If you have fine hair, that is pretty sparse, it may be easier for this product to make your roots greasy. If you have really fine and sparse hair, I would look into getting a conditioning spray or something that is a leave in, like Moroccan Oil-Light. =)

This should not weigh down your hair at all. If you want do not put it on your roots just slightly below (which you should be doing with your 'everyday' conditioner) and then focus it onto your ends. I would still suggest to make sure you use it all over your hair and just not the roots.

answer 8
If you use too much, I could see this weighing your hair down. The formula is really thick, so try using a really small amount. Once some of it is in your hair, emulsify it with a little water to work it through. My hair is medium, but very fragile, and I didn't have an issue with it weighing it down. Maybe concentrate more of it on your ends too, and not so much on your roots to keep it from making your hair flat. I think the big issue is to not use too much of the product.

All living proof products have a light citrus scent. I personally think it smells like watered down lemongrass. or hint-of-lemon+grapefruit. I have asthma and have trouble with scents, and I do not find it offensive. If citrus smells bother him though, it may be not be the best choice.

Can it be left in over night?
I hate doing masks cause I never want to rinse them out right away. I know some are ok to be left in over night and rinsed out in the morning instead. Does anyone know if this one is ok to leave in? I don't think its protein based so it should be ok but I'm wondering if anyone has tried.

This product is so affective but still gentle so it shouldn't be a problem leaving it on overnight. It doesn't have the keratin in it so it shouldn't dry your hair out but if your concerned you can always put it in your hair, cover your hair with a cap and use a bonnet or blowdryer for 20-30 minutes and then rinse.

I don't think it is necessary to leave it in overnight. I get amazing results putting it on my dry, curly, color treated hair at the beginning of my shower and rinsing it out at the end. Leaving it in overnight wouldn't hurt, it just isn't necessary to get great results.

answer 4
I would never leave a treatment in overnight unless the product tells you to do so. I didn't have to leave this on for very long at all to get great results. If you want to leave it on for more than a few minutes, try putting a plastic shower cap on when you use this. This can help the product penetrate the hair better, so you don't have to leave it on too long. The label on this one says like 5 or 10 minutes i think, and that's literally all it took for me to see results. Any time you leave a treatment in overnight that does not specifically tell you to do so, you run the risk of scalp and skin irritation, even your hair falling out, so like i said before, i would never leave a product like this in overnight unless the directions tell you to

Question
How to use?
Can you use the LIving Proof Restore Hair Treatment more than once or twice a week? That is, could I use it daily instead of another conditioner or is that actually bad for my hair (similar to the overuse of protein treatments which can be damaging to hair)? I only wash my hair once a week but I do often get it wet and just put conditioner (like LP Restore treatment) in it and rinse it out three plus times a week. What is the recommended usage for this product? Thanks!

Yes! I use it every other time that I wash. I think it creates a barrier that washes out after a couple washes, so using it more than once a week would make sense to me. If you have oily roots, only apply it at your ends. That way, it won't be weighing down your hair and making it look greasy!

I use the regular living proof conditioner when I shampoo. I use the mask every other week, and that seems to do the trick. It's expensive to use with every wash, and less frequently produces results. If you're not already using it, try their conditioner to use the rest of the time.

These living proof products absolutely are safe for color treated hair. I've been using them since they first came out, on my colored hair. Before this, all the products I used had silicone or oils in them, which made my hair look darker, so my hair did look brighter when I switched to this. It is not, however, damaging your hair or color. In fact, my stylist remarks how healthy my hair looks, and all I use is living proof.

I use the mask every time I wash my hair - it restores and really works well. The conditioner seems to be lighter than the hair mask. I'd recommend trying just the hair mask and see if you like it. I have color treated hair (dye then highlight) - this really tones it down.

If you want to flat iron your hair straight - try the Living Proof "Straight" Spray - works well!
