Question
Cause Breakouts?
I am having an issue with some (new) adult onset acne. I am wondering if this product would somehow make that worse?

I have breakout prone skin and this hasn't made me breakout. I don't slather it on, though. I just rub a small amount between my hands and press it gently on areas of my face. My face is still super soft when I wake up.

If you have acne prone skin, beware. This cream is not oil free, nor does it claim to be non comedogenic. For acne prone people that means breakouts. This is an amazing cream but it broke me out so bad that it took a whole month for my skin to bounce back. I still use it around my eyes because its to amazing to stop using but yes it causes acne. When in doubt, read the ingredients of a product and know that anything with oil in it causes acne

I've been dealing with similar issues, and I have found that it actually helps. It is not really oily like a lot of other creams, but it helps with sensitive, dry skin.

With any new cream, it may take a few times before your skin gets used to it. I have never had a break out from this cream. When your face clears up, it will be soft, supple and with fewer and less defined wrinkles.

I get blackheads & occasional pimple if I eat too much oily/deep fried stuff. I had amazing results with this cream. Just use a little every night, do not use too much since it feels so lightweight. But what I have noticed, like many other intensive formulas like glycolic Acid / AHA etc, once I stop using for 3-4 days, I get a couple small pimples after.
I think it's just my skin trying to find it's natural balance again.
Check with your Doc if you goto one.

I am also prone to breakouts, but this product does not cause them at all for me. It absorbs really quickly, so use it before your regular moisturizer before bed.

The ingredients list includes fragrance, but I just got a sample today and it's a very light/mild smell that dissipates quickly. It's sort of a fresh smell, but it's not very strong.

Yes - I use it under my eyes and on my eyelids every day! It has really helped with the wrinkles, crepes and dryness. I am of primarily Sicilian descent so I naturally have dark circles under my eyes, but this really helps to combat them!

Algenist makes excellent anti-aging and repairing eye products that are formulated especially for the delicate skin around the eye area. It is not recommended to use an overnight face cream on or around the eyes.

Question
Is this used under moisturizer or in lieu of it?
Excited to try this sample I got in my VIB clutch- especially after reading these reviews. I usually use a serum and a moisturizer at night. Would this replace both? Thanks!

This would be an excellent moisturizer to wear while you sleep. You would benefit more from an actual moisturizer during the day; a lighter formulation with broad spectrum coverage.

I only use this cream. It seems to be more than enough without the other steps, I'm sure it somewhat depends on your skin type and would suggest you try it with and without and see which works best for you and go from there. I'd love to hear how it works. Make sure you reveiw it after you've tried it for a while. But as I said, I would do both ways and see which one I liked best. Good luck!!

Question
Can this be used in the neck area?
I love all algenist products and wonder if there is anything that is "neck"
specific. I use the firming cream and moisturizer on neck now but wondered if the nightcream would help as well.

I don't know that it is night specific, but typically it's best to use your facial cream on your neck as well. This has worked visible wonders for my face - and I would not doubt it would be helpful for your neck.

If you have oily skin, I would recommend this. It did not make me breakout!! I got it as a 100 point perk and was hesitant to use it simply for that reason, I have a routine of products so I avoid any irritation or breakouts from products that I don't use everyday. I always wake up with an oily face, but on the mornings after using this... oh my gosh. No lie, I felt hydrated but NO OIL. It was amazing. It really is worth giving a shot because I noticed it right away. Good luck! (:

I'm older and still have acne problems, but this product doesn't irritate my skin at all. I actually think it helps clear it up, but it may just be a coincidence. I have almost no breakouts at all with this product and I've never had clearer skin. Maybe its my age and my skin is finally going to be better, or maybe its the marine algae in this product. Either way, I won't be without it. Hope this helps.

I thought so, too, but this has done wonders for my skin! Sephora also has a great return policy, so you can return it if it doesn't work for you - but I think it will. Prior to buying this I was only using face oils, but a night cream has helped so much more. I use the facial oils (tea tree oil and Fresh seaberry oil blend) in the morning and this at night, and my skin is so great I feel comfortable leaving the house without foundation/powder for the first time in my life!

The jar is large and the product is very concentrated, so you only need to use a small amount.

Question
if you use these skincare products, are u overdoing it? Algenist Firm and Lifting cream, retinol firm and lift serum, night restorative serum?
I am a mature adult, over 60, fair skin, dry skin, brown hair. Want a good skincare routine, but don't want to over-use or over-do a good product. I could try samples of each, before buying large quantities of each product.

Those are exactly what I use and am seeing great results. I use the retinol at night and layer the restorative pm over it. During the day, I use the Firming and Lifting after my Dior serum but before BB Cream with SPF. I add the Algenist Eye Balm both am and pm. My skin absolutely thrives on Algenist and I receive daily compliments on how it looks. People cannot believe I am 52!!!

That sounds like a great start! The only thing I would add is that physical sunscreen. It is especially important when you're using a retinol everyday, as you're regenerating new skin and can prevent future damage. I would recommend something with at least 5% zinc and titanium dioxide. Lavanila makes an awesome one called "Healthy Sun Screen" and it has SPF 40 coverage.
