Generic answer: It depends on what you're looking for. I really like the stilla one and my other favorite is not in this collection, but you can get it in the other mascara kit, the buxom. I'm not a fan on the bare escentuals wand, its plastic and kind of small.

The mascaras each work! The one that is most effective is Urban Decay curling mascara which gives your lashes a lift! Another one that works great is the sephora lash grower which literally makes your lashes grow in front of you!!!

I've tried them all now and my favourite is the Fairy Drops. It's staying power is amazing, doesn't clump badly and really adds length and volume to the lashes. I have experienced NO running or flaking, even after all day and I usually have a problem with that. I also have sensitive eyes and this doesn't seem to bother them.

Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay or Urban Decay (for me, I have hooded eyes and slightly oily skin, dark lashes but they're not particularly full or long) These mascaras gave me length, fullness, and stayed on all day long without flaking or getting on my eyelids. Both came off easily, and looked amazing.

I think they are all great, but my person favorite is the Fairydrops. It has a really interesting texture and shape to the brush that i have never seen before. It looks kind of intimidating and odd but the shape holds true to its promise. it makes your lashes LONG and thick! no need for false lashes ever again:)

The package is a decent size. Some people say that it was tiny but I thought it was a good sized package. It's about maybe 10" height and about 6" or so wide. The packaging is glittery and way pretty/cute.

It's roughly eight or ten inches square, and maybe two inches high. Has two "doors" that open up and it lays flat. It's a bit much for the actual amount of product, but is very nice and attractive packaging for gift giving.

This came with a voucher for a free makeover, which waives the $50 product fee that is usually required. It's a pretty good deal. AND there are two full sized mascaras in the kit (although not my faves). Great idea, though!

All of the mascaras come in one box. The box folds out into three panels: two half sized ones where the Stila and the Advanced lash booster on either size and then a middle full panel that has the sampler sized tubes and the make up remover in indents. If you want to separate them and give them as gifts, you're going to have to find your own packaging.

No, they are not packaged in individual boxes. The whole set itself is like a gift.... If you want to gift a couple of them you can get some tissue paper and wrap it in some small, inexpensive gift boxes/bags, glamify it a bit! All but 2 are sample sizes but they are adorable.

The last time I purchased a similar set from Sephora they were just the bare tubes of mascara [no individual pkgs.], just as you see them in the picture, except the brushes were inside of the tubes [as I recall]. I purch. my set just prior to the boom of all these different brush shapes on the market > so it's possible that the brushes are outside of the tubes now, so the shape can be seen prior to selecting one to try. If that is the case, they are prob. sealed together in a see-thru cellophane wrap. Your best bet is to just call Cust. Serv. or a store & ask your question of them.

They do have some waterproof mascaras in here but some of them are just the normal ones. I would keep looking and don't buy too much mascara at once because it can go bad in a couple months and you dont want to put on bad mascara and ruin your eyelashes.

No these are all regular mascara's. none of them are waterproof and there is no alternative version. But be glad, waterproof mascara is actually terrible for your lashes. it makes them fall out and stops them from growing.

Mascara spoils on average about 3-4 months after first use but can be kept (unopened) for a max. of 2 years before first use.

On average, once the mascara is opened you have about 3 months to use it. With the sampler sizes, they will most likely dry up before that due to the volume of product. That being said, as long as you don't open the packages to peek at the brush, etc., the mascara will definitely be fine at Christmas.

I am not an expert, but I have purchased a lot of mascara over time [because it was on sale or I thought I'd like to try it someday] that I presently have had "stashed away" [unopened & in original pkg. till I'm ready to use it] for a longer time period than you are concerned about & when I open one at a later date to begin using, it is exactly as if it were just purchased. I wouldn't worry one bit about holding this till Christmas. Just keep unopened, at room temp. with no exposure to temp. extremes & I think you will be just fine.

If left unopened the mascaras should remain fresh. I believe they start to go bad when exposed to air (they dry out) and of course bacteria. So as long as there left unopened they will be fine till Christmas. Great gift idea as well !

They're all black because black is a more universal color then brown. Since brown is a minority it wouldn't make sense to make a set full of brown mascara when not that many people wear brown mascara. It's all about the marketing!

I just wanted to comment that I stongly agree about offering these mascara package sets in brown colors > black mascara is too harsh for me. A year or 2 ago there was an offer like, this which was offered in a choice of ALL waterproof or ALL non-waterproof sets - but they were still all black. I need waterproof, at least on the outer 2 coats I apply on the upper lashes & total waterproof for the bottom lashes - due to my overly-oily eye area. Anything not waterproof just ends up transferring to my lower lids as a dark smudge. Because of the "waterproof set" offer I did try that set, even tho all black. I found no brand there that I am still using today > either did not like or it was not avail. in brown as a full-size purchase. I probably won't bother with this set - I assume none are waterproof, since it doesn't say they are.
