Question
is this a liner or a shadow?

I use it both ways. I think it works best as a wash of color over the lid. If you do use it as liner, you can put it on a brush and smudge it. It's good for more of a soft focus liner effect rather than a sharp, precise one. I don't and wouldn't use this on the waterline.

You can't use this very easily as a thin liner that can be worked down into the lashline without using an eyeliner brush. It is meant to draw a thick line if used straight from the tube (the colored part swivels up and down just like a thin lipstick). As a shadow it's very useable on any part of the lid due to it's being so soft and creamy and easy to smudge. Staying power is excellent. So the answer, it can be used as either a creamy shadow or a thick liner.

It can be used either way! You won't get a fine line with it unless you use a liner brush to apply it, but I like the thicker, smudgy line it creates straight from the tube. It is also great all over the lid for intense color.

The tip is not skinny enough to use as a liner. Use the Caviar Stick Eye Color as a blendable cream shadow to create a smokey eye.

I use it as a liner and a shadow. As a liner I apply with a small brush above and below my lashes. For more drama simply add more product along top of lid and blend in until it fades into lid crease. (I use my finger!) Hope this helps!

Question
Does this really work as an eyeliner. The reviews are mixed about this.
Brown eyes, light brown hair with blond highlights. Rather oily eye lids. I want an eyeliner that is quick and easy and with staying power for a 3 week trip to Europe.

I think this work better as an eye shadow or to be used in your eyelids. It works as an eyeliner, but better on the upper lid because the point is too thick. When I use it as an eyeliner, I put a little bit on the corner of my eye an then use a small brush to diffuse it. I looks great. I bought also the
Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in black-gold and black-violet and these ones work great as an eye-pencil!!!

Not an eyeliner. It is too thick. That was why I bought it, but was disappointed that it had such a rounded tip.

Yes this is perfect for an oily lid. Read my review dated 3/12/13 by Missfly!!I have very oily skin. I can't get through my day without blotting sheets. I never blot my lids because I don't want to age before my time. This caviar stick stays put regardless! I would try to go to a store and try colors, I own several different colors and love them all. Literally will last my 10 hour work shift without touch up.

Question
Color to bring out the green in my eyes?
There is no LM counter or Sephora near me, so I am ordering sight-unseen. I have pale neutral skin (lightest shade in most lines), lightest brown hair that pulls coppery in the sun, and hazel eyes. I wear neutral professional looks. What colors would make my eyes look more green, without making me look washed out? (pink or red-undertoned shadows, for example, make me look ill)

Not really. I have similar coloring except with dark brunette hair. I was hoping it would bring out my green eyes but meh - kinda does, kinda doesn't. It's a nice product though.

I recommend Amethyst. It looks great with hazel, green or brown eyes. The color seems more neutral than I think it appears online. It is NOT a bright purple. It is more of a grey with purple undertones and it does have a bit of shimmer.

Plum! Purple is on the opposite side of the color spectrum from green so plum really makes green eyes look stunning. Use it to intensify a purple smoky eye and you will definitely get compliments.

Based on my experience, I don't recommend it for inner eye liner because of the high sparkle content. The product has some texture to it, so I think it would flake into the eye. I love Clinique Quickliner for inside the eye becuase they to on very smooth and don't sting my eyes. Hopefully they won't sting yours either.

This is a HUGE crayon and I'm not sure it would be a good formula to apply to your waterline, even if you used a brush. I can't line my waterline because I have really sensitive eyes, so I'm sorry I can't recommend anything. MakeupAlley might have some recommendations for you.

This is a pretty thick pencil, so might be hard to "tight line." Also, goes on so smooth, you won't need a brush. It's actually a very soft, creamy pencil, if this helps any.

I am horrible at doing a smoky eye with shadow, but I can easily do it with these caviar sticks. I line my upper lid with the stick, then use a smudge brush to gently blend it up to the crease. I then use the brush to line my lower lid and darken any areas on the upper lid where I want more color. Easy as pie!
