No these are not cream shadows but they go on super creamy and smooth! I was shocked how buttery they are and they feel great going on your eyelids! A little goes a long way so if you try this palette make sure to use a good brush and shake off excess or you will be blending like a fiend! :)

No cream shadows, all powder. And all the colors are shimmery. Four have a subtle shimmer and four have a high glitter factor. The eye pencil is very creamy and thick and long lasting. A little goes a long way with everything in this palette.

Yes. The one on the far left is a soft cream. I use it for the base behind almost every color I use. It's actually running out and wish she sold that color separate. The one on the right is more of a white and is good behind blues, pinks, purples, etc. A bit of the cream in the inner corners is a fabulous look.

There are no cream shadows in this set. You will want to use a primer to make them last all day - but I suggest primer with ANY eyeshadow.

There are no creams in this palette all powder eye shadows. I am not a big fan of the cream shadows either not in this packaging anyways due to them drying out really quickly. Hopefully they will figure out a way to package the cream eye shadows so they can be included in the future palettes or take them out all together and sell them seperately who knows..

Yes I have brown eyes and these eye shadows really made my eyes pop! The colors are fantastic! I was able to do a smoky eye or fun day look without a problem. The shimmery shadows don't glow on me like I worried (I live in Arizona where it is sunny and too much glitter would make me look silly!) These colors will make any eye color stand out. Try it!

These colors are a little more bold, but neutrals are included. They are pretty shimmery, though. I'd recommend her Ludwig palette if you're going for a daytime to evening look.

This isn't the MOST natural palette you could find, if that's what you want. Although some of the looks I've gotten from KVD's Poetica have been subtle (the beig/mushroom color on the lid, contouring with the orange or light purple) - I'd probably steer you to Urban Decay's Naked palette. KVD has a more nuetral palette - "Saint" I think it's called, but I've never used it. If it's anything like Poetica, it's very nice quality.

Absolutely. I have brown eyes and it's perfect since it doesn't lean to the blues that don't work with brown eyes. The purples really bring out the brown and the creams make a nice base especially in the corner. The black makes a nice outer corner color that gives a smokey color. Highly recommend. My eyes are very brown and this is one of my best palettes.

I find it a bit too dark and maybe too shimmery for a natural look. But if you want just a light shade of purple, then I would use the Skiba and Babe colors. They're more lilac and less pigmented.

Yes this palette can be worn day and night. Yes it has sparkly shimmer shades but you can tone it down for a smoky eye day look and really add a sexy evening look later. There are 3 matte colors - cream, purple, tan (I think they are actually called "Babe," "You Alone," and "Sand Timer") for a day look. The others are eye popping fun colors for nights out. Try it!

So far, I've had great results for everyday use. I'm uisng the mushroom/beige color on my lid this week, contouring w/ different colors (the lighter ones) - this weekend, I'll try contouring with the bolder colors, like the sparkly black/brown/purple etc.

Yep! It's one of my favorites. I'm a teacher so you wouldn't think I could do these bolds but when you blend, they make your eyes really stand out. Get lots of complements. Be sure to blend well and save the smokey darker for evening or just a little less. The bright lavendar is a must for complementing neutrals and matching pinks, purples and yellow outfits.

If you want to turn this into a night look use Tijuiana in the corners of the eyes and lightly blend it into the crease using Wonderland. More near the inside corner of the eyes use Skiba. For the left over lid use Forgiveness, Forgiveness can be replaced with Chandler if you want something more dramatic.

Absolutely! There are enough colors in this palette that are soft and pretty and more neutral toned to wear for an everyday eye... And even the lilac placed with a light touch would be soft and wearable during the day. The key is blending the shadows! Definitely, if you have not already, make a point of purchasing a fluffy blending brush and when in doubt, blend it out! That is my rule of thumb!

Yes, this Poetica palette (and the Saint palette) are EXCELLENT day-to-night kits. "Forgiveness", "Sand Timer", "Chandler", "Tijuana" (as a soft liner on your top lashes), and "You Alone" are great for creating day looks. Pop a touch of "Skiba" in the center of your lid with "Wonderland" smoked-out in the corner, then re-line your lids with the eyeliner pencil, and you've got a quick change for nighttime!

Question
Is the eyeshadow tray in the Poetica case removable?
Does the tray containing the eyeshadow come out of the case, so that you can keep using it after the eyeshadows are finished? Looks like it would be a nice case for carrying, I don't know, kleenexes :D

No it does not look like you can pull out the interior tray. You could clean it up and use loose eye shadow pigments in it. If you have any favorite eye shadows that broke there is a way to add them to a tray like this and recreate it into a pressed powder again. I saw a you tube video but forget who did it. Maybe New Beauty Test Tube or a beauty blogger.

No but you won't need to. The colors complement well so once you have a set, you'll use most of every color. She's smart about what to put together. Be sure to blend more than one of the groupings like bronze with blues and purples with grey or pinks. Don't stick to basic colors, go ahead and mix. Check out tutorials online to give that fading one color to another look. Use the darker for the smokey eye in the evening. They stay on all day.

Question
Ingredients?
I'm trying to use products that won't harm me or my skin in the long run. I love KVD's products, but I don't know how "healthy" they are for my skin.
Also, I have oily lids. For the price of these eyeshadows, I want to find out ahead of time that they'll actually stay.

Omigod these eye shadows stay on for 15 hours without budging! I was amazed they didn't fade on me at all! My shadow looked as if I just put it on with zero smudging! I live in Arizona so the heat makes my face sweat but I didn't have a problem with these shadows disappearing. (Other shadows fade fast on me! I always use an eyelid primer too.) Try it you will not be disappointed!

I had an issue with these not being long lasting. I had to reapply after a few hours. I did use a primer bc I have oily lids as well. Maybe would last longer if used more primer combined with Urban Decay's all nighter spray.

For oily skin, I advise using a primer to keep on any shadow, even great quality shadow needs a primer for us oily gals. These shadows are highly pigmented and easy to blend, not sure if they are good for you (definitely no skincare benefits) but they have not caused any reaction for me.

I have oily lids too, I use eyeshadow primer first then apply eyeshadow. It lasts for an entire 12 hour shift at work as long as I use the primer. The eyeliner stays even without primer, so that's a plus.

I can't speak to the ingredient question... But as far as the staying power... with ANY shadow you should be using a primer... Like urban decay primer for the eye, or too faced shadow insurance, or nars eye primer. And I have oily lids too! I would go to your closest sephora and have them make a sample of one of these or two... and you can see the difference between the wear of any of your shadows compared to before. I place the primer, and my favorite is nars, from the lash line all the way up under the brow bone and I blend it in till it feels "dry" and then I place the shadows on and blend them out. Don't use your fingers with these shadows, or any shadow for that matter, use brushes. And clean those brushes frequently.

Primer! Eyeshadow primer (I HIGHLY recommend Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer. I've been using it for years and haven't found anything to replace it) helps keep shadow and eyeliner in place. Because of the way my eye lids fold, I have to use primer either it's smudge city. You can't even tell i'm wearing eyeshadow half of the time because of the fold (I'm Chinese with a double lid that slides inwards more so than it should). Primer saved my make up and keeps it in place, and it definitely works for people with oily lids. I use her Metal Orchestra palette almost exclusively for my smokey eye looks and it stays on all night with minimal creasing.

I have oily lids as well and I purchased her primer in stellar and smoky. You get a ton of product for the price. They help your eye shadows stay all day. I tested them by putting my makeup on at about 7:30 am and did not take it off until around 10 that night and the shadows looked as good as when I put them on that morning. I am completely sold. I still continue to use my favorit TF eye shadow insurance but these are comparable to this product as well. Good Luck in your search.

Question
Is this a revamp of her True Love palette?
This palette seems very similar to her True Love palette, which is currently on sale. The colors seem very similar. I prefer the packaging of this palette better than True Love, and I'd much rather have the mini eyeliner this comes with than the mini brushes from True Love. Although I don't own True Love, I've used it before and LOVE the colors. Are the shadows in Poetica renamed versions of True Love, for the most part? I'm not sure which to get!

Hi!
I've looked at both the Poetica and the True Love palette, and I've thought that samething!
As far as I can tell, these are similar but different colours, and they have different names...
As far as which one to get...if you want a palette that comes with brushes, and you already have a good eyeliner, True Love might be the one for you (I think you can try the same looks with True Love as you can with Poetica), but if you want to try out her eyeliner, and you already have brushes, Poetica might be the best option...
Hope that helps!

Yes this poetica palette is the same as true love. I received it in my Kat Von D Spellbinding look kit. That is an amazing deal and worth buying if you do not have this palette yet. The eyeliner is creamy and the mascara works amazingly well on my stubby lashes! Lipstick is very dry and pigmented so I had to add a gloss over it to soften up look and lips.
