Questions & Answers for Stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Brow Color

Question
Light hair?
I have naturally platinum blonde hair and porcelain fair skin. Most of the lightest eyebrow pencils, markers, and powders are too dark to look natural. How dark does the lightest shad go on?

It comes in 2 colors Light & Medium, but light should be great for you.

This color is great on light hair. I have found that most "blonde" colors are too dark, but this is more of a lighter brown which looks so natural.

I have brown hair and I use the light. It goes on literally light at first but after a few applications, it looks great.

The light is pretty light for a marker- I think it's the lightest you will find. They say super blonde people's brows should be a shade darker, so this should work.

I haven't used the lightest color. I have dark brown brows (but fair skin), so I tried the darker one. I can tell you this though, even the darker one goes on *very* light. I have to use multiple strokes to get the color dark enough to look natural on me. I can barely even see the first application, so I'd think you'd be fine with the lighter color. If it's like the darker one, the first stroke will be so light you might not even see it.

I bought the light color, since that's what I'd bought from other brands of brow color, and this one is too light for my brows. I have light brown hair. After you apply it you can comb out your brows and kind of disperse the color, which will make it look even lighter.

i would recommend trying it on in store if you can. it is possible to make very light strokes, as well as layering the colour for a heavier look. so i think it would be ok if you used a very light hand. i'm also very very pale and a natural blonde, and i've also been platinum, so i know how hard it is to find a product that isn't too dark!

I originally bought the light version and it turned out to be too light for me. I have fair skin and white hair but dark lashes and brows. The medium color turned out to be perfect. I would think that the light color would work for you.

It is REALLY light, even the darkest shade is really light. You should swatch it at the store. The lightest one is def. a ashy light blond.

I have the same concern, I want natural looking brows. I have blonde eyebrows and this product is very light. After looking high and wide, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a lighter shade.

Stila vs. UD Urbanbrow

Urbanbrow is a setting gel (to tame brow hairs) - Stila stay all day is actually like a brow marker so you can create brows or fill in spots.

I bought both to test that very question! Both apply the same but Stila's lasted though soap and water - like a stain, where UrbanD just came right off when wet.

i like this one better because of the pigment. i have dark brown hair, and it looks natural on me w/o looking too gray, too war, or too red. it will depend on your skin tone and hair color though. you may need to try them both and send one back.

I tried the UD brand and had to return it. It was sticky and impossible to remove. This is a better formula with about the same type brush, which is a little too soft for brows.

STILA! i have tried both and the urban decay pen looks fake, also it cakes on and looks terrible. You would have to reapply, and it does not last at all. once you scratch or rub your brow, its gone. the color is also marker looking, meaning it does not match any natural brow color. I have dark brown brows and the UBD pen looks like a marker when i put it on. Stila will give you a much more natural effect and long lasting.

stila beats urban on this brow wand. urban had too much flow and the color doesn't stay true. i tried Urban's at the store, bought the same color i tried on, went home and put it on, it failed, and i returned it immediately.

I believe stila is better. I love urban decay and all too but i gotta give this one to stila. Stila's brow pen is highly pigmented so few strokes are enough. And definitely water-resisting. i haven't tested it with water so i am not sure it is really waterproof or not like it says it is yet.

I have just about the same hair color as you do. I use the light although you may need to do multiple applications. I am fine with it because you won't have to worry about messing up or having to erase it.

I think light would go better for blonde or brown hair. The color will darken if its applied over itself. They say with lighter brows it makes you look younger. But if you like darker brows then go for the medium color and apply a light shade cause if you apply too much it will be dark.

Well, depending on how light your hair is from the highlights. If the highlights made your hair pretty light than I would probably go with light but if it is not really light than I would go with a combination of light and medium. It also depends on your complection.

Use medium. it is not dark at all. Initially like the FIRST time you use it, it will seem like its dark, but just wipe the brush once, and you will be happy. I promise :) That's the beauty of this pen, you can build the color by applying more than one coat too or leave it light

Go for the lighter shade. You can layer it up to get the shade you want. I think I have a similar complexion to you and the thing about the dark shade is it's almost more of a "light black" meant for darker hair. It does work for me but I have to adjust the brightness with some powder that has more pigment.

Question
is this comprable to the Sephora version (that i guess they no longer make :(
I have been in love with the Sephora Brow tint pen for years but can't seem to find it now?? i guess it's been discontinued? I've tried the Anastasia pen and don't care for it. it's leaves a reddish hue and also is very susceptable to any amount of moisture or sweat on your face and will start to bead up or bleed. Has anyone used the Sephora version and is this closer to the same thing??

This product is Fantastic. Stays on ALL Day and my skin is super oily. You can actually make hairs if you are good at that. You wont regret it.

This is SO much better than the Anastasia pen. I also had a bad experience with that one disintegrating with sweat or oil. This one lasts a long time and is sweat/oil resistant. I have never used the Sephora one, but I think this is a great product.

This is comparable to the sephora brand(so mad I can't find that anymore!) but not quite as much product and softer tip. Good color though and pretty long wearing. Good substitute!

yes- the hue is more similar to the one sephora used to carry. i have the medium color and dark brown brows. i use this to fill in my brows and then line/define the edges a bit more with the anastasia powder. you could totally use it alone, though.

Question
Does the light color work with red hair?
I'm naturally blonde, and I have blonde eyebrows but I recently dyed my hair a really bright copper red and I was wondering how the light color would work on me? I have fair skin with a sort of pink undertone. I figured that the light would be the best option rather than the dark color, but I just wanted to get some advice!

I would say yes, use it to fill in your entire brow then if you'd like you can go back through and add a reddish brown powder in small strokes to give them a more multi dimensional look

I think depending on the shade of red your hair was colored than it would depend on how dark or light you would want to go, but it could also effect your complection.

Hi! It sounds like we have very similar coloring... I use this on my brows, and it defines them without looking heavy. It is a very light shade, the lightest I've tried, and I love the super thin lines it allows me to draw. That said, the color has almost no red in it. So it really depends on what you want it to do. If you have very fine brows and have areas that need a lot of color, this may not be enough. I also have the Anastasia brow pen in light universal, and it has more red but is quite a bit darker, and looks too heavy over my entire brow. I use the Anastasia pen in the places where I have almost no brow hairs and the Stila everywhere else. It looks very natural. HTH

Get it! get the medium color (they only have light or medium, no dark). i think the reason for this is that you can build the color without it looking bulgy or cakey like the pencils. Give it a try - i am obsessed with eyebrows (especially natural and not painted on) and i love this product.

I'd suggest getting the darker of the two (which is called Medium, I think). I have very dark brown hair and the Medium is perfect.
