Questions & Answers for Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Saint

Question
This vs. Urban Decay Naked?
Has anyone used both palettes? How do they compare in terms of quality, etc? Obviously this one is less- but I'm wondering more about quality of product. Thanks!

I have basically tried almost every eye shadow out there and was a complete Urban Decay queen. I am stunned that I actually love this palette and think it is right up there with Urban. It blends well, doesn't crease and is just as pigmented. And I loved the price!

I have both the UD Naked Pallet and the KVD Saint pallet as well as several other neutral pallets sold at Sephora and for me the KVD Saint pallet is my favorite. I find all the colors are wearable for everyday, where as in the Naked pallet I rarely ever use the 4 colors over to the right. In terms of pigmentation and blendability they are both excellent. The KVD Saint pallet also comes with a fantastic eyeliner where as the UD Naked pallet comes with a great brush. Of course it all comes down to personal preference but in my opinion the KVD Saint pallet is best.

Compared to the Naked palette, I would prefer the Saint one just because it has all the basic colors you would need for any look and its at a decent price. Yes, the Naked palette is $50 and comes with more colors but let's be real, how many shades of brown do you honestly need? The Saint palette has basic light and dark brown plus wonderful highlight colors. I've used both and as nice as the Naked palette is, I just cant seem to perfer it over the Saint palette

Urban Decay's Naked has more of a variety, but the colors are very similar. I have both palettes, and if your looking for one with more darker browns/tans and all shimmery I would say get this product. Although if you're looking for lighter hues and matte and shimmery then choose Urban Decay's Naked.

I actually have both of the palettes and I love them both. If you are looking for less sparkle and glitter you should go with Kat Von D. They really are very similar to each other. The Kat Von D palette is also less expensive. Both look best when using a primer on your eyes and look great. If it were me and I was undecided I would try Kat's first. I hope I have helped you!!

i personally own the both of them and in my opinion their both great palettes and i like them both but there is differences in price the kat von d is much cheaper and i comes with one of the best eyeliners ever and the naked is more expensive and comes with a brush and eye primer instead their also both really pigmented so my advice to you is if you want something not as expensive get the kat von d

i have both the naked and this palette. quality of shadows on boy products is awesome. both are highly pigmented, both have long staying power. this palette is in a much sturdier case. the naked case doesn't lock shut. this one snaps shut and is super durable. i throw this one around like crazy in my purse/bag/when i travel and don't haven't had an issue with breaking..whereas my naked never leave my makeup counter. also this one comes with a great mirror inside, so its great for re-applying or touching up on the go....even though you probably won't need to ever re-apply..these shadows last!!

I compared the two and while this has less colors (obviously) for the price I felt this was a really great buy. Of course it is new, but I think I will use this more than the Naked palette. Also, the liner is excellent. The shimmery colors in Kat Von D aren't too sparkly. I love UD but this has converted me to Kat von D products.

I'm a huge Kat Von D fan. However, I do like the naked palette better. It has more shades and definitely has more versatility. However, Kat Von D's are better without primer. I always use primer and would always recommend using one, but if you don't own one and are saving up for a palette alone, go with the Kat Von D one. Her shadows last without primer and are also vibrant. The two lightest shades here are absolutely phenomenal and are better than the highlight colors in the naked palette. I also like that the kat von d one has nice browns whereas the naked palette only has one dark brown. These certainly are darker. If you like your makeup more metallic and darker with seriously gorgeous highlights, buy the kat von d palette. If you want amazing versatility and completely wearable colors, buy the naked palette. The point is, you won't be disappointed by either product, but one might be better for you personally.

This does not come with an applicator. I actualy like it when palettes do not come with applicatiors because I am used to the brushes that I have and tend to do makeup better when I use the ones that I have used before. You can also purchase eyeshadow applicatiors from Sepora and they work great and are not expensive at all.

How much loss is there with this eyeshadow?
I bought some KvD duos about a year ago and there was so much fallout (esp w/ the darker colors) under my eyes and all over the packaging throughout the day that I stopped using them. Has the formula changed and/or has this improved?

It stays on really well, the only thing I can say is that the light pink has a bit of fallout in the case when I use it. But that's the only color. I don't know why. It seems to be pretty creamy other than that.

Slightly. I'm fair skinned and had issues with other brands doing this, and I always try to tap the brush before I take it to my lid. This prevents excess from sitting on the lid. Try using a primer if you don't already, as well.

i don't have that problem with this palette. however the fallout under my eyes pretty much happens with every shadow i use (any brand) when i use them dry. best advice is to just swipe some extra powder under your eyes when your finished...thats what i do and it really does the trick.

answer 5
I am a professional film and television makeup artist, and I own a majority of Kat's palettes. While quality of the product does somewhat contribute to 'fallout,' it is my opinion that fallout issues are usually due to application technique. The quality and consistency of Kat's palettes are in my opinion, superb. If you are experiencing fallout from the shadows, try this:

You must, must use an eyeshadow primer. Kat's High Voltage primers are in my opinion, the best on the market. They go on smoothly and they really provide a superb canvas.

Secondly, when applying, take your brush and dip in in a bit of loose face powder and flick off the excess. Then take your brush and lightly dab it in whatever color you choose and again flick the excess shadow off. This should help with fallout issues.

Kat's colors are great for layering as they are for the most part, fairly complimentary. As with any eye makeup, sometimes, depending on the desired effect, you may have to use more of a particular color to build it up. In my opinion, Kat's palettes are the BEST on the market. I've used practically everything out on the market, and Kat's makeup is unbeatable for the price and the quality. I would highly recommend purchasing her palettes.

is downtown in this palette the same as downtown in ludwig?
they have the same name yet are described differently and sort of look the same.. if they have the same name and come from the same series it might mean they are? yet lucifer and leather, which have occurred in several palettes, are always described the same way. downtown is one of my favorite shades so i really want to know.

Hello!

You will definitely have that shimmery, pearl-like result from the colors in this pallete. I think that it also could depend on your skin tone, and how much product you are using. Because I do find the colors build-able and easy to blend, I think it is possible to get away with a light, pearl-like finish. But, if you want more of a matte finish, I wouldn't say this is for you.

Hope this was helpful!

Looking at the back of the package, there definitely aren't any parabens. The main ingredient for most of them is Mica, zinc strearate, dimethicone, and lauroyl lysine.
I bought this palette instead of Urban Decay's "Naked" because it does not contain talc (which is rather dangerous to be putting in your eyes).
I recommend looking at the package @ Sephora to double check.

When I do a smoky eye with this palette I love using the white on the far left under my brow and in the inner corner of my eye. Then I dust the pink <3 color over my whole lid. After that, I blend the brown chocolatey color on the far right into my crease and outer corner of my eye. I've gotten several compliments when I do my eyeshadow this way. Best of luck! :)

apply 'enjoy the silence' as the base then use 'heavens' on the middle of your lids to brighten your eyes. After that I use 'pray for me' on my upper lid.The next step use 'bookworm' to outline your crease and use 'caravaggio' on the outer crease. [i posted an example]

The other smokey eye is simple; apply pray for me as the base then blend bookworm or caravaggio (depending on how dark you want your eyes to be) from the middle lid to your outer lid.

I usually do dark eyeliner on my lids and waterline.

Blend!! :)

i found something to make the instructions easier:
