Questions & Answers for Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

Question
I'm find that this flakes and peels, am I applying it wrong?
I'm thinking it's me since this has such great reviews, but this product tends to flake and sometimes peel fairly soon after I apply it. Has anyone else come across this and found a solution? Or any suggestions as to what i might be doing wrong?

Shake it up, the new waterproof component makes it separate faster. Also, the primer is a must in all eye applications! This little investment will ensure you get the most out of your purchases.

I use perversion with the primer potion. Make sure you do your outline of the line you want that day and let it dry before applying anymore to darker. It must set. Sometimes when I am impatient I shoot the blow dryer for 10 seconds to let it set quicker.

Hope my tips help! I have used Perversion for over 6 years. It's fabulous!

I've tried this liner with both a primer and without. I can honestly tell a major difference when I apply the liner and when I do not. With a primer, the color (perversion) is rich and deep all day and doesn't move. It looks like I just applied it. When I say all day, I mean 11+ hours. On the other hand I have also tried it without a primer and saw a difference. It did fade a bit and was a tad flaky. Not super flaky like many customers are describing, but still a bit flaky. Also, in the evening when I remove it, it does tend to "roll up" in tiny balls and flake.

Yeah, I think it is flaky! Either that or I'm defective too. I thought it was because I was putting it on my bottom lash line, and that it must work as well there because of the moisture. But maybe it's just a little bit of a flaky product...

Make sure that you are shaking it before application, and also wipe off excess liquid on the inner rim of the bottle. If you do that, it will apply thinner and will be less likely to flake.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, I have the same problem with this liner and if you'll read more reviews, you'll see other customer do as well. I put my UD 24/7 pencil liner over it to fill in the flakes, but this kind of defeats the purpose. Wish I had a better answer for you. Good luck!

I too have had issues with the flaking but no peeling (yet! ahh!) I suggest that you apply a thicker line and let it completely dry before you touch it. When I take the brush out of the bottle I wipe the sides to take off excess product. I hope this really helped you and I am happy I only picked one of these up!

No you are not the only one. I am a bit confused regarding this as it seems as though half the reviews state the liner is great and long-lasting while the other half claims it is flaky and does not last (including myself).

I wear this liner over the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer and it stays perfect all day. It does flake/rub off easily when I take my makeup off at night, so I think I might encounter some flaking/peeling if I rubbed my eyes too much during the day (allergies/contacts/etc.). Hope this helps.

I had the same problem, but my sister made me realize that I had to shake it VERY well. That may help. Also, I know its an extra step, but primer can help prolong the wear and prevent peeling/flaking.

NO! Save yourself from some serious burning. I use Smashbox Jet Set with a angled liner brush. It dries in 60 seconds and stays put all day. Completely waterproof. I even use it in the inside rim of my upper eyelid to add definition and avoid the gap of skin showing when wearing liquid liner.

I wouldn't use this for the inner rim. Sometimes if i put too much liquid on the brush it falls into the lower inner rims and burns. I would suggest a pencil for the inner rims and use the liquid for the lash line.

I would not use them on the inner rim. Since they dry to a water resistant finish, they will peel if and when they are too wet for too long. This will cause them to flake off into your eye after a couple of hours, rather than fade off like a kohl liner. I use the 24/7 pencils on my waterline with excellent results. They last a good 4-6 hours and don't make my eyes water.

answer 10
Since it is a liquid liner and the applicator is a long, flexible brush, it is kinda hard to do the inner rim/ waterline because the product wont dry properly for it to last long. Try the khol pencil liners which UD also offers as a part of their 24/7 liner products. Those would probably work better as a waterline liner than the liquid product.

I prefer the Urban Decay 24/7 - it stays on throughout the day with or without eye primer without smugging. The colors go on great - the brush is fine so it is easy to make a thin line or go as thick as you want.

I do love Makeup Forever, however, the Aqua liner didn't stay. I used a few different eye primers to see if it would make a difference, but it still ended up smugging : (. It isn't as easy to apply when comparing it to Urban Decays 24/7 liner.

The formulas are incredibly similar. The only real difference is the applicator. MUFE's liners have a sponge tip, while UD's have a brush. So it just comes down to personal preference, in which applicator you prefer. I prefer a brush, but a lot of people like the sponge-tip. Whatever is easier for you.

I've used the Makeup Forever's liner and this one, and I definitely like 24/7 more. The Makeup Forever's Aqua liner had a weird sponge thing that kept falling off, and the liner would dry up on the tube making it nearly impossible to open. I also feel that 24/7 gives you a much more precise line because of the small brush. As far as wearability--24/7 lasted longer for me without rubbing off or smudging onto my upper lid.

I've used both, and there's very little difference in the product, but significant difference in the applicator. The MUFE applicator is an extremely fine-tipped sponge, while the UD applicator is a tiny, tiny brush. I find the UD applicator to be more precise when I'm drawing a very fine line; otherwise, they're essentially VERY similar products.

I bought both Make Up Forever eyeliner and Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner. I loved both colors, both are very vibrant and the formula for both eyeliners was smooth. I prefer the brush on Urban Decay's eyeliner because it is a brush so it was easier for me to apply. However, MUFF eyeliner lasted a long time and again, the color...both are beautiful!

I have quire a collection of the other liners as well, and have so far added two of the liquid liners to my collection. Yes, would absolutely recommend them, at the very least the color perversion (black). The great thing about the liquid liners is that you can build up even more color and make pigment more noticeable than you can even do with the pencils alone. Also, they create much sharper points than the pencils do, even when sharpened perfectly...so achieving the perfect cat eye look becomes simpler using the liquid over the pencil.

some of the pencils i find to be too smudgeable, which works for people that like the smudged look but it can tend to look sloppy when the product wears off. that being said, this product is not exactly better. it flakes off pretty quickly and you are much better off with the kat von d eyeliner pens instead of this one. it makes just as exact of a line (if not better) and is extremely long wearing (i had to work to get it off with eye makeup remover. that right there is quality)

It's a different product in my opinion. You can get a much more precise line with the liquid and the color is more "strong" since it sits slightly above the skin. The edges are just more precise with liquid than with pencil. I would say pencils give you a softer look since the edges aren't as precise while the liner will give you a more precise edgy look.

answer 10
I have both. This creates a more defined line, and you can get it very close to the lashes, so if you use it in the color close to your lash color, it can make your own lashes look more lush, even without mascara. It has more precise control, too. If you press harder, you get a thicker line, or you can simply draw more than one line on the lid.

This would be a better choice, too, to make false lashes blend in, as it is very dark compared to even the dark brown pencil.

If you've never used this eyeliner before, I'd say that perhaps the black one would be the easiest one to start with. Trying out other colors take time and you want to be sure you like the product before you go buying all these radical colors you might not ever use. Might I suggest searching each color at the Sephora store on the back of your hand? What I did before I bought Perversion (the black one) and Demolition (the brown one) was that I took each eyeliner and drew a small wave line on the back of my left hand with each color. I saw how each color shined under the light, how it looked on my skin tone and whether I liked how shimmery or matte certain ones were. That might work for you too. Hope this helps!

Everything! Formula, applicator, and packaging. The formula is a lot thinner, which makes it easier to spread across the eye. The brush is thinner and shorter, so it's more precise. Also, the container itself seems more secure. I had one of the original liners, and the product dried and thickened because the opening was huge and let tons of air into the container. The new ones don't have that issue. Overall, a huge improvement (in my opinion)!

As someone who has had both, I would say the following: the brush size and the handling. I feel as though the brush on the 24/7 is smaller in terms of the number of fibers/circumference, not the length. It may also be made of a different material, although on that I am not positive. To me the brush of the original liquid liner seemed more flexible and watercolour-brush-like. Second: the "pen" of the 24/7 as opposed to the pot and contoured handle of the original. It really just depends which you like more. The original may have been easier to hold, but the pen allows more space (so you can see your eye while you're drawing on it...lol). That is just my personal opinion; I would prefer the original if I had the chance.

The original 24/7 eyeliners are creamier pencil applicator eyeliners, no liquid involved. Their pigments are also great, and they are fantastic in their own right. As much as I love these new liquid liners, I still wouldn't give up my favorite pencil liners.

As far as color goes I can only speak for smog, this liner has more hints of gold in it. Other than that the old formula was better, this one chips off in big chunks on your eyes if you touch them at all.

I have used both and this is definitely better than the Stila. The felt tip on the Stila can bend or get wispy after use, and if you don't remember to shake it first, you can run out mid-sweep. The stila isn't as dark a black or as definite a line and I found it almost watery.

Not to give you a cop-out answer, but it does depend on what you like. Both of these eyeliners stay where you put them after they dry. The Urban Decay one is definitely more pigmented and goes on in a finer line, but Stila can be easier to use. Hope this helps

I do not like the UD formula. It flakes off after hours of wear. And I too lost eyelashes on my cotton pads like another reviewer. I am returning this one, and will be trying another brand. Stila or Makeup Forever. I haven't tried Stila liquid, but I like their other pencil liners.

I've never used the stila product you are referring to but have used their products in the past. I would go with Urban Decay- the pigment quality alone is MUCH more intense then stila and the applicator is flawless. I also feel like stila products "smudge" easily and you dont want that when going for a precise look.

Although I have never tried the Stila liner, I know for a fact that this liner is 100% waterproof. I tested it on my hand in stores, walked around in the pouring rain all day with 90% humidity, washed my hands countless times, and it was still on. After a shower it finally wore off. It is AMAZING, and comes in an array of absolutely gorgeous colors. El Dorado is my personal favorite. It's like liquid gold, it's so beautiful. I highly recommend this product!

I really prefer the UD one better. This has definitely been a step up from their older , ink and quill styled liquid eyeliner bottle of the past.

u can put on UD eyeliner in the morning and it will last all day, all nite and still look like u just applied it. i like stila's felt tip applicator better though, i find it easier to apply. stila is long lasting (even after my gym-run at the end of the day) but maybe not as much as UD. UD also has a plasticky consistency to it after it dries which is kinda weird. they're both great and long lasting, i have a slight preference for stila.

Question
Is the applicator easy to use?
I'm not that good with liquid eyeliners so it worries me a little the kind of applicator it has, is it hard to use or something?

It's really easy to use, you can always build up the thickness of it later. Just keep a makeup wipe/ baby wipe handy for mistakes.

Using these brushes is a learned skill. The easiest way to learn is to sit at a table, hold a mirror in your left hand, rest your right elbow on the table, and do the right eye. Switch and repeat for the left eye. Do this a few times and you'll be a pro - then you just stand and your hand will know where to put the line.

The eyeliner is the easiest to apply that I've found. It's all because the brush is so fine it allows you to have more control. Some of the other eyeliners I used in the past had brushes that were too full so that they would splay when I'd apply the liner then I'd have to clean the line with a Q-Tip. That does not happen with this liner.

It's a superfine tiny little brush. I'm not that great with liquid liner and found it to be very precise and easy to control

If you don't have a lot of practice with putting eyeliner on, this is a good way to start. The applicator is smooth and it flows really nicely across the lid, so the line is pretty even. Because it's liquid, it can get a bit drippy, but if you wipe the excess off on the edge of the bottle, you should be fine.

It might take a couple practice runs but overall its not that difficult... The only problem I have is it sometimes goes on more translucent and you have to wait for it to dry and do another coat.

I'm not super coordinated either, and I have no problem applying this product. The barrel is a good size to get a grip on, and the formula isn't runny or anything, so you shouldn't have an issue. Good luck!
