I DID THE OTHER NIGHT, AND IT'S EXTREMELY GLOSSY, I THOUGHT.
SO, IF YOU WANT REALLY NOTICABLE BARE NAILS, THEN YOU SHOULD.

YES, BUT, WHY WOULD YOU? THERE ARE SO MANY BEAUTIFUL NAILS INC. COLORS.....EVEN MATTE AND SHEERS.

Yes, you can use it without having any other polish on, though I would suggest using it in conjunction with the Kensington Caviar base coat for a longer wear, for sure. It gives a delightful pink, french-manicured look to your nails when used alone.

Question
Clear or Shaded?
Does this go on and dry with the pretty shade shown in the bottle? It looks as though it would be very nice on unpolished nails. Or does it go on and dry clear? Thanks very much!

It dries with a clear coat. I wouldn't recommend using it on bare nails, it doesn't adhere to the nail as well as it adheres to a coat of polish

Buy the Kensington Caviar base coat if you want to wear it alone. It has a slight pink tint and is a fantastic product. This top coat combines with your polish to harden and set, so I don't think it works as well alone as the base coat.

Depends on the shade of nail polish. I have noticed a slight pink hue when applied over light-colored polishes.

It doesn't alter the shades of nail polish that I have put it over, so it seems to dry pretty clear. I do know that the base code does have a sheer pink shade to it when I put it on bare nails, so that might work for you.

I never wore it by itself, but I'm pretty sure it dries clear. It doesn't change the polish color when used as a top coat.

Question
Is there shrinkage?
So far the best top coat I've tried for fast dry, super glossy finish is Seche Vite but it causes major nail polish shrinkage! (Which means the nail polish pulls away from cuticle and tip) Does the Kensington Caviar Top Coat cause this shrinkage?

I've only noticed the smallest bit of shrinkage - as in, I probably wouldn't notice it if I wasn't looking for it. That said, I make sure to wrap the polish on my nails so that it extends over the edge, and that helps keep shrinkage away.

It does not shrink my nail polish. It also doesn't drop a thick glass layer on top of your nail polish like the Seche Vite does. I love this compared to Seche Vite!

That has not been my experience. I have natural nails and it really prolongs the life of my polish. Not to mention, it dries wicked fast!

This top coat is perfection in a bottle. wear it with or without polish, directly over a base coat or treatment; and it's worry free as it won't "shrink" as it dries.

There's very, very minor nail shrinkage that you can get around by applying the top coat carefully.

I havent noticed shrinkage...just a super glossy finish and dries fairly fast. I prefer it to Seche Vite (which always starts out nice and then instantly goes downhill each time I use it and gets stickier every time :( boo).

I have not noticed any shrinkage with the use of this top coat (other than the shrinking use of times I have to paint my nails because they hold up so well with it :0)

Question

It seems that you are getting answers from those of us that have used only Kensington Caviar! That would tell me that it is an incredible product for sure and that we LOVE the Caviar Topcoat and will not switch to the other. I too, have only used the Kensington Caviar Top Coat and it is my all time favorite top coat. I found it for the first time in June, 2013 at the Sephora Store on Hollywood Blvd and am just now running out. I have to order from Sephora as it is not sold in any store, even in the surrounding areas where I live. This will be my second bottle and I cannot wait to get it in!!
What scares me about the gel top coat is that I am afraid it may look or even be too thick on my nails and that is something I do not want.
Hope we have helped!

I haven't personally used the plumping version, but I have read quite a few reviews about it, and most agree that the original version is better. I have used the original Top Coat and it is my personal favorite. Hope that helps!

You cannot go wrong with the kensington caviar top coat. Great shine and dries fast. If you have natural nails and wear them a little longer, try layering this top coat over another thicker top coat (like OPI) for longer lasting chip resistance! I have found when my nails grow out a smidge, this will chip if used alone over regualr polish.

Question
Has the Caviar Top Coat been reformulated???
Just wondering if this is a reformulated version? The color looks odd- the original was a clear peachy color. If so, does this last longer than the old version? I loved the old version- it dried my nails super quick and left a great shine!
