Question
How is it on oily skin????
I have extremely oily skin and large pores. Does this control oil and shine and hide pores? It say it is a matte primer, just wondering if it holds up under humidity, sweat and oil.

I went into Sephora specifically to get a good primer, my skin's oily and prone to occasional breakouts, plus it's super humid where I live. The artist chose this one because it keeps the make up from getting into pores to prevent break out. It really feels like I'm just putting water on my face it's so smooth.

I think it's great for oily skin because I just started using it and I am battling with oily skin, too and it keeps my face shine-free all day so far. Better than my usual primer, I used Smashbox before which wasn't bad at all but this one is a tad better I think. I also think it's formulated oil-free anyways, so your skin won't react to it.

I have an oily t-zone and found this primer neither helped nor hurt as far as mid-day shine (in other words, it doesn't make me more oily, but I end up needing to blot and powder around lunch time just like I normally would). I think if you are looking for a primer to help control oil, you probably want to look elsewhere.

Sorry to tell ya beauty sister but I have the same problem and it didnt do the job on my oily skin. Try M.A.C. prep+prime face protect spf 50, it's about the same price as the Rehab Priming Elixer (maybe a few dollars more). It last all day and minimized the appearance of large pores. Someone once thought I had foundation on (all I had on was this primer).

I noticed it helped a bit with oily skin, but half way through the day I needed to touch up or use oil blotting papers. Nothing special about this product.

This primer has given my complexion a matte finish underneath my foundation. I have had no problems with it in humidity. I am slightly oily in areas on my face (forehead, sides of nose, chin) and this has kept my foundation true and lasting all day without any shine breakthrough. I love this product--it is the best primer I have tried, and I've tried everything, including Hourglass, Smashbox, Bare Minerals, Makeup Forever, etc.

I have oily skin too, it definitely does work to keep shine at bay and keep my makeup from migrating into oily pools on my face. It's pretty lightweight, and absorbs REALLY fast so it's not sitting on top of your sin, making it look more oily than what it already is.

If this is "mattifying" how does it leave a "glow"
Some description describe this products as leaving complexion with a dewy glow and yet the product description says "mattifying". Is it dull and flat or dewy?????

I wouldn't describe it as dewy at all. It is sticky and makes my face look way too shiny, almost greasy. The foundation for me, is better without the primer.

it's more matte. I don't notice anything dewy. If you want a "dewy" finish, I like Laura Mercier primers.

I think the mattifying vs. dewey glow depends on your skin. Its definitely not dull and flat, but it does seem to make your skin look healthier without being shiney, if that makes sense. I have oily skin, and it definitely keeps my makeup on my face, but leaves an overall brighter look to my skin when i'm not wearing my foundation.

It's best to apply after your skin care regime from cleanse, tone or soften, moisterize, sunscreen then primer :)

Use this after your moisturizer. You want your moisturizer to have first access to your skin. Also, this product is intended to work with your makeup, so you want this to be the step you apply just before your foundation.

The applicator is more of a wand that you can dab against your skin. It's consistency is very light but a little goes a long way.

The dispenser is supposed to work like an eye dropper. You press the button at the top to suck product into the tube and then you press the button again to dispense the product into your hands. Personally, this method never worked very well for me. Enough of the product sticks to the outside of the dropper tube that when I pull it out of the bottle I just use what I wipe off of that. A little goes a long way and I think the product works very well. It is a thinner, more lotiony consistency. Not like a cream or a silicone. It is water-based and oil free. I recommend the product but I sort of hope they redesign the function of the dispenser.

I had to give this primer a second chance, and I'm glad that I did. Like other reviewers I did experience the "sticky" and "gooey" feeling the first time. I then returned it because of that reason, and it was supposed to be a primer and make my make up last. BTW, I am very super oily. I kept thinking about what I could've done to make it not so sticky. I realized every time I went to use it I would empty the whole dropper, instead of starting off with a bit of it. Then I could've rubbed it into my skin like I do my moisturizer and let it dry before applying foundation. I gave it a second chance and whoa! What a difference. It sucks that it takes some figuring out to make this and her foundation work, but it is what it is.

Takes about 15 min to dry. But I apply my foundation while it is sticky because it helps you use LESS foundation.

Unfortunately, for me it's sticky even at the end of the day when I try to take it off (leaves my face really sqeaky but not squeaky clean). I usually let it dry at least 5 minutes before putting on foundation, otherwise it gets a bit clumpy, but you really only need a tiny amount. It's sticky for me when I put a bit too much on.

one full ounce, and it has a glass dropper, perfect for controlling how much you apply. You only need a small amount a lot goes a long way!! Also it is oil free and makes your skin feel great!!! If you have oily skin wet your face and rub baking soda all over it takes care of the oily problem and clears your face up try it and let me know!! Hope this helped!!

Its a 1oz bottle, its not the best product to help with oily skin. Bare Escentuals has a really nice primer for oil control.

It is in fact "fragrance free" but because there is rose extract added it gives it a light rose scent.

The pleasant scent is the natural odor of the primer. It includes beneficial extracts (such as rose) that serve to nourish the skin and these extracts happen to smell good. "Fragrance-free" means no artificial perfumes have been added to the formula.

Does this primer ok for people with acne prone skin?
I have very sensitive, acne prone skin with some acne scaring. It's been hard for me to find a primer that doesn't break me out. I was using smashbox light primer, but that eventually broke me out too. It looks like this primer has gotten some good reviews but no one has really emphasized on whether if this primer is ok for people with acne prone skin.

it has no pore clogging ingredients in it, the ingredients are actually good for your skin, it's oil-free and water-based. I have acne-prone skin and it's great, it has never broken me out!

I gotta say, I have oily, acne prone skin and this worked great for me. I saw that after just a few uses, my skin was softer and it actually cleared up a bit (I tend to break out mostly around the side of my jawline/cheeks). It is on the expensive side, but I personally would recommend it. I used to use UD face primer and CoverFX primer, but I found that this is the best one that I have tried.

If you have dry skin this might not be the product for you. I have dry skin as well, and this will definitely not help. You might want to try Skinprep FX - Nourishing Foundation Primer from cover fx which is gluten free, their brite prep is also a good option. hourglass is also a good choice for gluten free products as well! :)
