I have a CHI ceramic, too. If yours gets up to the right temp, it should be fine, mine didn't. The sales associate at the Sephora I went to suggested a titanium iron to retain heat better. It was only a suggestion she wasn't forcing me to do it but she did emphasize the temperature was very important.
If you look at the KeratinPerfect instructions insert it doesn't specify the type of flat-iron, only that it MUST be at a certain temperature to bond i.e. 380 to 410 degrees for damaged hair, 410-430 for processed hair, 430 to 450 for coarse or "virgin" hair. I had to look up my model number on the internet, but found out my CHI did not get up to the temp it needed to be for my hair, so I bought a cheap-o ceramic one that did. Worked out fine! I think a lot of bad reviews out there is that people are not getting the right temp (too cool won't bond and you'll waste your time and money, too hot and it will damage your hair) Follow the directions, you'll be fine.

Yes - you can use your own flat iron as long as it reaches the correct temperature for your hair type. My Chi goes to 410 degrees and worked fine.

answer 5
I used my own iron, you just have to make sure it heats up to the necessary temperature for your hair type. I needed it to be at 380 F and mine did.
