Question
Do you use it everyday and does it make your hair greasy?

You aren't supposed to use this every day. As an intensive treatment use 2-3 times a week for 1 month, and once a week after that for up to 3 months or so. With that being said - I used my first treatment on Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning my hair was definitely not greasy, and far less frizzy than usual when waking up. Today (monday) still no greasies. I usually go 3-4 days without washing though anyway and it took a long time to work up to that to get my scalp to stop producing so much oil as I use to have oily hair. I also don't use a ton of hair product that may cause oiliness either, I don't use anything other than keratin oil from mid-length to the ends. I don't feel this product will cause you to produce more oil on your scalp, it's not an oily product.

Actually, it does make my hair greasy. I noticed some people mention this in the reviews.

The day of application it doesn't make my roots greasy, but it does the next day. I can normally go three days without shampooing, even with moroccan oil in my hair, so I'd definitely say this makes the hair greasy, if only the next day.

Just for a frame of reference, I don't have oily roots and normally have dry to delicate hair and scalp.

You can use it everyday, however it can make the hair dry, but definitely not greasy. It's not an oil, but a serum, so it's almost like an alcohol that evaporates quickly on the scalp, so be sure to use conditioner so that your hair doesn't get dried out.

Dear Phyto Fan,

The easiest way to open the PHYTOCYANE REVITALIZING SERUM ampoule is to use a tissue or cotton round and hold firmly just above the white seam and snap off then discard the top. Be cautious because it is made of glass. Each ampoule is good for one application. Use the entire vial on the scalp and throughout the lengths and ends to revitalize the scalp and to strengthen the hair strands.

Hope this helps!

There is a white line near the top of the bottle where you break it. You do not break off the skinny tip......this white line is below that area. If you cover the top of the bottle with a washcloth and snap at the white line, the top will come off very easily and without shards or the need to use your tweezers. You can see this white line in the photo: From the top, there's the skinny tip, then there's a bulbish area, and then there's the white line. That's where you apply pressure and it will easily and cleanly break in two. Do not let this process stop you from buying this product! It's easy and 100% worth it!

I use the plastic applicator to help crack the tip off. I put the plastic loosely over the tip of the bottle and then crack it. I can then hold the plastic applicator over the garbage can and the glass tip falls right out. If a shard gets into the applicator tip, I rinse it before using. There have been a couple of occasions where the glass tip got stuck and I simply pulled it out with my tweezers.

I put the plastic dispenser cap over the tip of the glass vial & then snapped off the tip. That protects your fingers & hand from the sharp edges of the glass dispenser & tip. However, you will then need to snip around the ends of the plastic cap & grab the bottom end of the glass tip w/either the scissors or a surgical clamp (what used to be called a "roach clip") to pull it out of the cap. If you don't snip around the ends of the plastic cap, the glass tip stays wedged inside it. Worst packaging EVER.

Is there alcohol in the ingredients?
I would like to know if there is alcohol in the ingredients and if so, how much? Alcohol tends to dry the hair. I am going through menopause and am experiencing thinning hair and would like to try this but am skeptical.

The very first ingredient on the box is "Alcohol Denat" which is "denatured alcohol". The definition: "denatured alcohol - ethanol rendered unfit for internal use by addition of methanol or acetone". As for the amount, it is not listed on the box or the bottle. I have not found it to be drying, but if you are concerned with that, I suppose this isn't the product for you. :) Good luck!

The ingredient listing on the box is in a mox of English and French. The first listed is "Alcohol Denat", followed by (Alcool de betterave)".
So I'd say the answer is yes. But I've had success with this (46 with thinning hair) and will continue to use it. I'd say, give it a try!

It's focused on women because women have a much higher incidence of "temporary" hair loss than men do. The product is meant to address and help temporary hair loss, which is due to things like stress, illness, poor diet or hormonal issues (menopause, thyroid issues, pregnancy.)

Mens' hair loss is generally much more likely to be caused by hereditary factors, which this product doesn't really support.

In other words, this is a treatment to help speed up the output of a healthy but dormant follicle, whereas most mens' hair loss is from a dead or damaged follicle. You could always try it, though!

If you Google Phyto products, or visit their site, there are some thinning-hair products for men such as "Phyto PhytoAxil Shampoo for Men 3.3oz". Perhaps this serum is formulated more for the chemistry of a woman, but someone with better knowledge of these ingredients and products would be better suited at giving you an answer. There are products for both men and women by Phyto. :)

Yes it can be used on all hair types, just make sure you still use conditioner. When the directions say aplly after shampooing, that's a general term for "after you shower you wash and towel dry your hair".

I agree could be easier, what I have found works best is to cover the tip of the vial with a wash cloth, holding the middle of the vial in one hand. Use your thumb and index finger of the other hand together with the wash cloth to break the tip off. The wash cloth protects your fingers from being cut, and gives you the ability to push it harder.

Could I use an ampule daily?
I know it says to use an ampule 2 to 3 times a week. Could it be used on a daily basis or maybe like 5 times a week? I am not worried about the cost. I just wonder if it would be more effective using it more often.

Dear Phyto Fan,

We recommend that the PHYTOCYANE REVITALIZING SERUM be used as directed. Using it more often is just wasteful. This product addresses those suffering from temporary hair thinning concerns; it is very important to use it as directed. PHYTO makes some of the most effective topical treatments for hair thinning that are drug and hormone-free. For best results: Use for a 3 month period: MONTH 1- 3X a week then for MONTH 2- 1X a week then for MONTH 3- 1X a week…then stop for 1 month and then to maintain- apply 1X a week.

Hope this helps!

I wouldn't use it more than directed as they made these for a reason. Again, after my experience it made my head a bit itchy and I was following directions. It's about a months supply and if you don't see a difference then don't buy it again, but try it out and use it the right way to get the best results.

I'm sure you could use it 5x/week instead of 2-3x/week, but I'm not sure if it would be more effective. Since it doesn't make your hair grow *faster*, it probably doesn't make sense to use it more than the recommended 2-3x/week...

If you're worried about getting results--trust me, using it 3x/week is enough. After using it myself 3x/week for 2.5 months, I can tell you it works. I plan to finish this 3rd box and using a 4th box before I go to the maintenance treatment.

Growing hair is a slow business, so just be patient :)

Question
Can I use this product during pregnancy?
My hair is very delicate and over processed. I put extensions in (beads) and they did more damage to my hair. I want to grow my hair but also get it to be thicker. However, I do not want a product that is dangerous to use while pregnant.
