Questions & Answers for Phyto Phytocyane Revitalizing Serum

Question
Do you use it everyday and does it make your hair greasy?

You aren't supposed to use this every day. As an intensive treatment use 2-3 times a week for 1 month, and once a week after that for up to 3 months or so. With that being said - I used my first treatment on Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning my hair was definitely not greasy, and far less frizzy than usual when waking up. Today (monday) still no greasies. I usually go 3-4 days without washing though anyway and it took a long time to work up to that to get my scalp to stop producing so much oil as I use to have oily hair. I also don't use a ton of hair product that may cause oiliness either, I don't use anything other than keratin oil from mid-length to the ends. I don't feel this product will cause you to produce more oil on your scalp, it's not an oily product.

Actually, it does make my hair greasy. I noticed some people mention this in the reviews.

The day of application it doesn't make my roots greasy, but it does the next day. I can normally go three days without shampooing, even with moroccan oil in my hair, so I'd definitely say this makes the hair greasy, if only the next day.

Just for a frame of reference, I don't have oily roots and normally have dry to delicate hair and scalp.

You can use it everyday, however it can make the hair dry, but definitely not greasy. It's not an oil, but a serum, so it's almost like an alcohol that evaporates quickly on the scalp, so be sure to use conditioner so that your hair doesn't get dried out.

Question
Is there alcohol in the ingredients?
I would like to know if there is alcohol in the ingredients and if so, how much? Alcohol tends to dry the hair. I am going through menopause and am experiencing thinning hair and would like to try this but am skeptical.

The very first ingredient on the box is "Alcohol Denat" which is "denatured alcohol". The definition: "denatured alcohol - ethanol rendered unfit for internal use by addition of methanol or acetone". As for the amount, it is not listed on the box or the bottle. I have not found it to be drying, but if you are concerned with that, I suppose this isn't the product for you. :) Good luck!

The ingredient listing on the box is in a mox of English and French. The first listed is "Alcohol Denat", followed by (Alcool de betterave)".
So I'd say the answer is yes. But I've had success with this (46 with thinning hair) and will continue to use it. I'd say, give it a try!

It's focused on women because women have a much higher incidence of "temporary" hair loss than men do. The product is meant to address and help temporary hair loss, which is due to things like stress, illness, poor diet or hormonal issues (menopause, thyroid issues, pregnancy.)

Mens' hair loss is generally much more likely to be caused by hereditary factors, which this product doesn't really support.

In other words, this is a treatment to help speed up the output of a healthy but dormant follicle, whereas most mens' hair loss is from a dead or damaged follicle. You could always try it, though!

If you Google Phyto products, or visit their site, there are some thinning-hair products for men such as "Phyto PhytoAxil Shampoo for Men 3.3oz". Perhaps this serum is formulated more for the chemistry of a woman, but someone with better knowledge of these ingredients and products would be better suited at giving you an answer. There are products for both men and women by Phyto. :)

I disregarded instructions and applied serum after I've blown-dried my hair. This way the serum won't get so drippy and sting my eyes.

The directions tell you to apply after washing and towel drying your hair. You leave it in without rinsing, & style your hair as normal. Surprisingly, I did not have any greasiness at all, just super soft hair, and a moisturized scalp. Feels great!

There is a white line near the top of the bottle where you break it. You do not break off the skinny tip......this white line is below that area. If you cover the top of the bottle with a washcloth and snap at the white line, the top will come off very easily and without shards or the need to use your tweezers. You can see this white line in the photo: From the top, there's the skinny tip, then there's a bulbish area, and then there's the white line. That's where you apply pressure and it will easily and cleanly break in two. Do not let this process stop you from buying this product! It's easy and 100% worth it!

I use the plastic applicator to help crack the tip off. I put the plastic loosely over the tip of the bottle and then crack it. I can then hold the plastic applicator over the garbage can and the glass tip falls right out. If a shard gets into the applicator tip, I rinse it before using. There have been a couple of occasions where the glass tip got stuck and I simply pulled it out with my tweezers.

I put the plastic dispenser cap over the tip of the glass vial & then snapped off the tip. That protects your fingers & hand from the sharp edges of the glass dispenser & tip. However, you will then need to snip around the ends of the plastic cap & grab the bottom end of the glass tip w/either the scissors or a surgical clamp (what used to be called a "roach clip") to pull it out of the cap. If you don't snip around the ends of the plastic cap, the glass tip stays wedged inside it. Worst packaging EVER.

You should stick to the instructions of using it 2/3 times a week. Instead, you should buy some voluminizing hair products if you like that extra lift. Bed Head products work great. Blowdrying your hair upside down helps give volume too!

We don't recommend using this treatment daily. For an intense treatment, apply three times per week for one month, then once a week for two-to-three months. For a maintenance treatment during seasonal changes, apply once a week for three months.
