Should I moisturize before applying this product?
I'm fair skinned and the first time I applied this product it was terrible streaky. Does moisturizer improve the ease of application?

Hello,
I would suggest not to moisturize right before using this product because, it may act as a barrier and the color will not develop correctly or evenly. You will be able to apply moisturizer after the self tanner has dried completely.

I apply this a few minutes after I've gotten out of the shower at night, while my skin is dry but still able to absorb the most product, and it goes on wonderfully.

The best way to ensure an even application is to expholiate well and shave in the morning, after your shower use a light moisturizer and that evening apply your self tanner, let dry well before going to bed. In the morning shower to wash off the color guide and Voila! a perfect self tan :o)

I wouldn't moisturize because it may block the tanner from soaking in. Try holding the bottle farther away and use less, but do a couple of coats. A lot of product comes out pretty fast so you have to be quick with it.

I slather on lotion on my feet, knees, elbows, and wrists without rubbing it in, then spray away. I've always had a problem with my feet lookiing horrible, but this does the trick...after I spray then I rub the lotion in(make sure you wear gloves, or you can use a foundation brush too) This makes my whole body so perfectly even. And with this spray, its best to start with two light coats the first night, then continue to build the days after.

i am also very fair skinned and i haven't had any trouble with streaking. in my opinion you should always moisturize before self tanner. i always do and i've had great results with this product.

I am light skinned too. I always exfoliate well before applying. I also apply baby oil to my wet skin and then dry off well. This gives a little moisture to my skin first. I also rub it in til it feels dry...Hope some of this helps!

It's too subtle for my taste, considering you really only get 2-3 applications out of one can and that cost you $15. The tan will last about 3 days. If you're constantly in a hurry, then the spray might be worth it to you because it does dry fast. I still don't let anything I wear touch it (unless I wear black near it), because it will rub off on fabrics even 3 hours after application.

Definitely build-able like a daily tanning lotion but the first applications will be darker since it is more concentrated. My husband is really light and he used it before the beach without looking like a Simpsons character.

You will definitely notice that you look tan after one application. Then if you keep applying it every couple days you will see that it turns to a deeper shade. I'm very fair too, and I looked tan after the 1st application. It also probably depends on how much of the product you use. More will give a deeper tone.

I have medium skin tones, frosted hair, brown eyes. One app on my legs was good, but I wanted something a bit deeper. I've sprayed my legs for 3 evenings...it's pretty good! And the smell is wonderful! I doubt if I will go much deeper. Want to see how it does in the water, if and when the weather warms up here!

It is very subtle if you only use one application, don't spray on several layers. It has a bronze tint to it immediately so you can see where you are apply it,. My skin is fair -medium and it looks VERY natural

It's a complete rip-off for the quality. It used to be a lot better in terms of darker (but not at all TOO dark) color and the spray used to come out more evenly. I think $15 is way too much for 2-3 applications. It is faster than gels or lotions as far as "seeing" you've put some stuff on your arms and legs, but you will get so many more applications out of those types of formulas.

It has a lot actually, I was able to do my husband and myself, just one coat each, before we went to the beach. The darker you want the more coats so keep that in mind.

You can probably get 2 full body applications from 1 bottle, or more if you only use it on upper or lower body. I get 3 applications per bottle only using on my legs.

A little bit goes a very long way. It sprays out a dark bronze. You will need to rub it in to get the desired color, then be sure to wash your hands.

Yes I use it on my face after I let my moisturizer set in... and then if I am going out I apply my make up after... and sometimes I even do another quick spray over my face after that. I'm obsessed.

Hold your breath and spray each cheek liberally. Then, rub it all over the areas of your face you want to tan. Wash hands. I have sensitive skin and it doesn't bother me one bit.

Yes, I do. After I apply my daily moisturizer (and makeup if I am wearing any that day) I apply some mist on my face for a little added color. I don't use much, but just a quick spray around my face for the bronzed look.

If I spray my entire body and then shower the next morning. Will the tan last, or will I need to reapply each day.

It doesn't need applying everyday. You could easily go 3 days without reapplying, but I would suggest exfoliating after that, because it will start to kind of flake off, but a light exfoliant will take it all off and you can reapply it.

I found myself reapplying every other day. I usually put it on after I showered. I didn't notice that it was fading quickly but I didn't stop using it to see how long it would last.

Can you apply it on the top of your hands?
I hate it when the self tanner stops at the wrist because you have to wash your hands after rubbing it in. Does it go on top of your hands without it looking obvious that it's a self-tanner? Or can you see the lines in between your fingers?

Yes, you can spray this on top of your hands. Make sure that you rub the product in to prevent streaking.

It does not leave streaks on your hands, but this product does not also give you a really dark orange tan. It leaves more of a glow and a natural looking tan. Very easy to apply due to the application being in a can that sprays and not a lotion you rub in.

best thing about a spray mist..... after I apply it to the rest of me, I wash my hands then mist the top of the hand and rub the tops of my hands together, making sure to rub the fingers together well too (tops and sides only). I did not notice any visible tan lines with this product.

It takes a little practice. When I applied the self tanner to the rest of my body, I used my hands to blend it in (on my legs, arms, etc). I washed my hands after as instructed. THEN I lightly misted the self tanner on the tops of my hands and let it dry. It worked well for me, although I didn't use a lot because you don't want your hands to get too dark or blotchy in between your fingers.

I usually just lightly spray over the backs of my hands after I have applied to rest of body. Hold the spray several inches away and just lightly apply. This product does not need to be rubbed in so you don't really need to scrub hands after application.

After applying to your hands you should take a wet towel and gently rub in between your fingers because that is where the self tanner usual gets stuck making it look orange and after applying the self tanner to your hands give in 15 minutes before washing you hands so it can soak in. Then your hands will have a nice glow!

Once it dries it sets. Gradually tanner will fade after a few days and you will need to reapply it.

Not really waterproof like your favorite mascara or sunscreen, but I sprayed it on and the next day after a shower went to the beach and played in the water without streaking.

It typically lasts a few days. The amount of time it will last depends on how much you exfoliate, bathe or are in the pool. All these things will make the 'tan' fade faster.

Once it dries, yes. Its similar to getting a spray tan at the salon. Once applied, you have to let it dry. The color will develop over several hours and then starts to fade away after about a week or so.

Not if you sprayed it evenly. To prevent streaks in large areas (arms, legs) I would rub it in just to ensure you get an even color.

YES- first spray on lower legs and upper thighs. Rub that in. Then spray lightly over the same areas plus feet. Rub all over legs(make sure you cover back of legs and knees) rub it in really well on feet. Last do knees. Just rub mitt over knees with what's on the mitt. don't spray them.

It's not shimmery. It's sheer color...with a bit of shine! It's perfect. It hides flaws but doesn't cover like a thick opaque cream. The color is very brown. Not orange at all.

I have very sensitive skin.it burns from some creams it's so sensitive I only use argan oil,but I do use this self tanner on my face and it doesn't damage my skin.hope this helps

I asked a Sephora employee the same question and she said that probably not...as far as pores go, it's not listed as non-comedogenic or anything like that. She suggested not using on face and I have been taking her suggestion. There are lots of other self-tanners made specifically for face which are probably much better.
