My favorite "red" lipstick from Nars is Flair. It gives the pop and wow factor of red lips without being too harsh or garish. Flair is definitely a 'cool' red, with the tiniest bit of berry, and a little bit of shimmer, but it is still rich and deep. I think it would be lovely with your coloring.

Try Gypsy and Vera Cruz first, Flamenco or Manhunt are a bit more classic reds, but sheer and lovely!

since you are a bit older, you don't want to have a red that is too dark or pigmented. Try something a bit more sheer like Nars' "Flamenco" or if you don't want something sheer, try "Trans Siberian." Always wear a lip liner before and after your lipstick application so the lipstick doesn't bleed into the wrinkles around your lips.
I suggest using Nars' Velvet Matt Lip Pencil instead of a Nars' lipstick because you get a more precise lip application with it.

I have blonde hair, hazel eyes and a light to medium complexion (and am 42) -- I like the Flaming Dust on me and wear it a lot. It is a little sheer and very pretty not overpowering.

Go with one of the more coral reds. Those look better with your type of coloring than a blue red or deep red. Nars has good descriptions of the colors to help you stay away from the undertones (like blue) that you don't want.

A good red lipstick from Nars (for those with fair skin / light eyes) would be either Viridiana (rich burgundy), Gipsy (sheer warm berry) or Fire Down Below (semi matte pure blood red). Those colors are deep enough to contrast really well with fair skin, yet add a hint of warmth to the face as well. Avoid orange reds and choose reds with either a bluish undertone or a warm golden undertone.

Try the Fire Down Below. it's a bold red, but not loud.

Try Afghan Red. Wear it darker for a dramatic evening, or blot it for a berry-red stained pout during the day.

"Manhunter"

Because of your hair color and your eyes, you might want to try more of a sheer berry. This will give you the pop of a reddish color, but not the harshness of an actual red lipstick. Dior and MAC make some really good sheer reds that are not too overpowering. Also being blonde you should look for colors that have a bluer undertone and are a cooler hue.

RED LIZARD - it's a great red for fair skin - not too orange, not too blue. It is very intense, but for a softer look you can just pat the color into lips with your finger and then apply a gloss on top.

Nars Gipsy is a great red for all skintones. It's not light but it's not too dark. It's a neutral red with a hint of brown and berry tones.

I really think it depends on what kind of statement you're trying to make with your lips. If you just want the lipstick to accent the rest of you I would recommend a light peachy shade such as the Barbarella, if you're going for a little bolder look you should try the Catfight.

Roman Holiday! I don't know why no one ever suggests this color, probably not that many people have tried it, but I LOVE Roman Holiday! It is a great pink--adorable but also kinda edgy. I have light skin (tan with freckles in the summer but very pale in the winter), gray eyes, and highlighted blond hair (naturally I am a dirty blond). Try it!

There are so many shades of Nars lipstick that would work for you! If you have a cool undertone to your skin, which is probable if you have dirty blond hair (not golden). Here are a few suggestions: Catfight, Dolce Vita, Klute, and Mitzi. I was "color draped" in the 8th grade, and I absolutely love picking out colors that compliment people based on skin undertone, hair color (golden, reddish, or ashy), and eye color.

Sounds exactly like my colorings. Some that have worked for me are: Tobago, Sxual healing, Viva Las Vegas, Senorita and Dolce Vita. All of these except Dolce Vita are sheer and shimmery. The dolce vita is a stretch- I only wear it when I dress up or at night.

depends on the shade- galaxy girl- sheer. catfight-matte and full coverage. Each formula contains a frost that covers differently.

They are more of a Satin. Unless the shade says sheer, NARS lipsticks are really color saturated.

I think that they are mostly sheer, with varying types of shimmer, from frost to a kind of bronzey shimmer. Most of the NARS frosts are not your typical frosted textures, they have to be tried to really understand.

from what I have noticed there are some shimmers and some creamy semi-matte, all are pretty moisturizing, natural looking and contain good color. I wouldn't say any are especially sheer but all create a nice classic satin look

The frosted lipsticks are satiny bordering on matte. Not at all sheer or glossy.

I rarely wear frosted, but do own Mitzi that seems to be a frost. It is sheer and I think most of the Nars products are sheer. Even the Shciap that is shocking pink with shimmer (like tiny glitter) is fairly see through. It looks intimidating in the tube but great on.

With dark brown eyes and very fair skin, you have to be one of two seasons: Autumn or Winter. If you look better in browns and earth toned clothing, you would be an "Autumn", and should look for "warm" lipstick shades such as terra cotta, tomato and brick red (warm), peach, and browns. If you look best in clothing such as hot pink, blue red, navy, and purple, you would be a "Winter". Lipstick shades that would be complimentary will have a "cool" undertone: pinks, fuchsia, berry, raspberry, true and blue red, and mauve. A particular shade of lipstick cannot be recommended until your skin undertone is determined.

scarlet empress is gorgeous! but it definitely screams "i'm wearing lipstick" its not a muted or neutral shade

during the day you should go with a pink nude and for the night time go with a pinkish red with a bit of brown in it.
Try Nars' "Catfight" or "Pigalle" for day and try "Afghan Red" or "Transeurope Express" for night.

i have the exact same complexion, and luckily, us fair skinned brunettes can wear anything! i recommend Schiap, it is a bright pink that stands out against your very light and very dark features.

If you like dark colors, then Scarlett Empress (trendy for fall) would look great with your coloring. It is a deep berry color! If you don't like deep colors, stick with a lighter shade of the same berry, violet shades but lighter. They look great with your coloring and are very "in" right now.

I have Damage-and Love it! I have brown hair (although I'm not sure it's real color anymore! and hazel eyes with color naturally in my lips and I love the look Damage has, natural but with color. I also use Afghan Red for evenings, very dramatic. The popular lip gloss (system won't let me say the name but you can guess it!) is also a must, great for anytime even over the lipsticks

What color is your hair? I have fair skin and hazel eyes, and recently I have been experimenting with different colors that I see in magazines. Luckily, fair is the new tan, so there are so many more colors that complement fair skin tones. I would try something that is a sheer mauve...nothing that is too bright pink or too red. I use Dolce Vita, and I love it, as it gives some color but is not overpowering for fair skin.

I would definitely recommend Little Darling. I had been searching for the perfect nude colour to go with a dramatic smokey eye as well, and I was so excited when I found this! I have blue eyes and fair skin, and it's just the perfect shade for me. I would also recommend NARS lip lacquer in Chelsea Girls, which is a beautiful nude with more shine than the lipstick, and no stickiness like some lip glosses.

I would suggest Belle de Jour, or if you don't mind a peach tint, Barbarella is gorgeous with a smokey eye :)

You might consider Dolce Vita in Nars lipgloss. Great all year color for daytime. It has a little more pigment for daytime and great staying power. I kissed my husband hours after I had put it on and laughed because I forgot I still had it on without reapplication even after eating. I forget that when I buy quality (Nars) lipgloss/lipsticks apply it and forget about it! Great product.

I haven't tried Dolce Vita yet. I went to check out the new Sephora one day and I tried on Bella De Jour and fell in love with it! It is a great nude to wear alone or under a nude lipgloss (like striptease). At first I thought it was too good of a nude effect but with dark smokey eyes this lip color would pop.

I had to sign up for notification of when sephora.com would get it in stock but I received an email within about 4 days.

I agree with the first person who answered that Dolce Vita is a nice nude. If you want something more on the peachy nude side, I'd also recommend Napoli. I'm fair and it's one of the only peach nudes that doesn't make me look washed-out. Hope this helps...

Even more important than your hair/eye/skin color is whether you have warm or cool skin tone... if you have cool skin tone (the veins on the inside of your wrist are mostly blue-ish) and attempt a warm color, it is likely to go a little to brick-y or brown on you, and won't look right... if you have warm skin tone (veins appear more green), and try cool colors, it will probably turn blue or grey-ish, and won't be very flattering. Just remember to give it a little while (at least 15sec) to let it warm up to your lips first before you judge it.

The great thing about Sephora is that they have a fantastic return policy, so go ahead and try it, and if it isn't what you are looking for, return it.

Viridiana! Its a gorgeous deep red that will make the brown eyes pop.

It really depends on what type of effect you're going for.
If you want that deep and Classic effect, you would like Afghan Red.
If you want a deep but neutral look, go for Corinthe.
If you just want a sheer wash of color, try Napoli or Niagara.
But then again, its your choice.

Have you tried Nars matte pencils? There are a few different reds in these pencils and they stay on great, even after wearing awhile they leave a nice stain.
