Yes there is a large mirror that almost covers the entire part of the palette that flips open on the inside. A very nice generous mirror. It is a mirror you could actually use to put on your makeup if you were in a room with no mirror, ans had to get ready.

YES! It has a fabulous mirror in the lid of the wallet. It's protected with wrap you can leave sitting there so the shadows don't fall onto the mirror or not. My mirror has zero distortions and has far more clarity to it than most pallets, compact type mirrors have.

It says that the palette is refillable...does tarte sell single eyeshadows? If not, what are you to refill it with?

There are single shadows available on Tarte's website, but there are only 6 of them and they are weird colors. Seems like an afterthought, and hopefully they will start making some nice usable colors so that the word "refillable" doesn't seem like deceptive advertising. More practically, you could mix and match from different palettes, but with Tarte's limited refill selection, they are not really refillable.

Yes...the palette is refillable. The shadows are attached magnetically so you just buy the shadow you need to replace. It's easy to do.

Sephora does not carry the refills yet, as far as I know. You can find them on tarte.com

One, the refills are not the colors from this palette. They are the colors from the femme naturale palette and I believe the eye couture day to night. I am not sure if they will have the exact colors from this palette since it is limited edition.
Two, they are prohibitively expensive. If you only need one it is worth it. If you need two or more, you are in the same cost range as a whole new palette. I guess it is how they try to sell the palettes, saying it is worth 200+. When I noticed this, it bothered me a bit. I always thought their motto was reduce reuse recycle. It is not cost effective to do so, just does not make sense to me. Maybe that is why I keep hearing a new slogan in their videos.
Oh yeah and the current refills on tarte.com are not the amazzonian clay shadows, which makes a difference in the mattes mostly, I have found they apply smoother.

Tarte does sell single eyeshadows, but I've never seen them at Sephora, only on the Tarte website. But be warned: they can be a bit pricey. That ($212 Value) is what you'd be paying if you bought the case and each eyeshadow separately. Each little eyeshadow square is about $17. So while you can refill if there's a color you really love, it's more expensive.

similar to femme natural palette?
How does this compare to the femme natural palette and the jewelry box (that came out last christmas)? I really like this, but feel like a lot of the shadows are similar and there aren't really any new shades. I have the femme natural palette and the jewelry box and don't really need dupes of either.

I also have the jewelry box from last year and this palette has more natural colors for people with light skin tones. I love the jewelry box but I really don't use the brighter eye colors.
Also, this palette is magnetic so you can swap colors between it and the jewelry box to take your favorite colors on the go.

I have the Vol 1 palette and this one. This has softer shades vs. Vol 1 - it truly is more neutrals but not being anything like UD's Nakeds. I find with my coloring I am using Vol II Natural Palette more esp now than Vol 1. I am thinking but not positive, need to look it up, but Vol 1 is the older formula of shadows prior to the line incorporation of Amazonian clay in a whole line end of the Tarte products. These have longer wear time, application is smoother, blending is amazing with this group There is one shade that is similar to Vol 1 but not idential. Vol 1 has way more shades that are very light. Vol II moves right into more deeply pigmented shades - yet by the time you reach the right side of the palette, (darker end) the shades are much easier to blend in (play with) every other color in this palette. Also, both are magnetized (reusable), thus if you have some favs out of Vol 1, you can totally customize one palette between the 2 for traveling. Other smaller palettes from Tarte (sold elsewhere) are all magnetized with the same size squares. You also can purchase individual refill shades at Tarte (hopefully soon at Sephora) and further customize. I like this case better than the case for Vol I personally.

Hi missladygirl! The palettes are definitely different. While the majority of the shades in the Femme Naturale Palette contain pearl or shimmer, the shades in the NeutralEYES Palette are half matte/ half shimmer so you get 5 of each! We’ve hand-selected each better-than-your-average-bare shadow to go inside this palette. Some shades are soft and muted, others are dark and smoky. All shades would look amazing with a healthy summer tan (courtesy of Tarte’s smooth operator micronized clay finishing powder in bronze), as well as for all year round for a more neutral eye look. These shadows also have Amazonian clay so they will help to keep your eyelids’ moisture in balance, soothe dry or irritated lids with aloe leaf and cucumber extracts as well as protect from free radical damage with Vitamin E. Don’t forget about the fabulous purple faux snakeskin, gold zipper, and teal outer case that will grab attention, whether you pull it out of your bag to do a touch-up or place it on your vanity (right next to your Femme Naturale Palette!)

the top row is matte, the bottom row is kinda glitzy/catchy when you look at the palette, BUT when I apply these, they appear matte IMO. I wear them to work and i don't want to look like i'm goin to a club, so i like the toned down matte appearance. (it's not as crazy glittery/sparkles like some of urban decay's shades)

If you're looking for matte shades, I'd try Lorac's pro palette - you get 8 matte shades and 8 shimmery (though nothing too outrageous)

Half the shades in this palette are really matte (the top row). The other half are shimmer, and range in their shimmery-ness. The plum and pink, for example, have a very subtle shimmer, the pink-gold and copper colors are pretty shimmery. None of them have glitter.

If you are looking for matte light/natural shades, this would probably be a good buy for you. The darker shades are sort of shimmery, but they really are not intense. I didn't really like this pallette because I DID want shimmer, but this sounds like what you are looking for.

Why was this product "Unavailable" when the VIB sale was in progress but magically reappeared in stock the moment the sale ended?
This product was out of stock throughout the VIB sale, but as soon as the sale ended, it was immediately back in stock. This has happened with other items on Sephora during sales, so this is not an isolated incident on Sephora.com. There is no way this can be coincidental. What is Sephora's policy about artificially making some products "out of stock" during sale events? And what is Sephora's policy about applying the discount code to items that come back in stock within 24 hours or less of the sale's end? Or even 12 hours or less? Or less than that? It is unfair for products to be out of stock only to magically appear in stock within minutes of a sale's ending.

I hear you. Sephora is not the only sight that is sold out when there is a good sale. I think they have the sales to get rid of overstock items. As far the companies policies about redeeming after the coupon code is over, you would have to contact the company. Email sephora customer service when they are not having a sale.

I notice that off and on myself too. I have thought it has something to do with what they want to get moving out of stock so it's included in the sales. Also, it could have something to do with profit margin what they can put on sale. Another issue is some contracts stores like Sephora have with individual lines that are sold elsewhere have to comply with terms in the contracts. It's VERY common for example if Macy's is got an GWP event ongoing with Lancome, they cannot run the same kind of 'event' with say Clinique or Clarins. There's a lot going on behind the scenes, far more than the consumer would ever be thinking about.

I have a tarte eyeshadow set very similar to this one, the day to night one, which is basically the same as this one except with different colors. I would not recommend using the shadows wet, because the brush becomes difficult to maneuver, the shadow becomes cakey, and it leaves a big mess in the case. If you want higher pigmentation, just apply more shadow.
