NARS Body Glow

What it is: A beauty oil for an aromatic, sun-kissed sheen. What it does: Monoi de Tahiti oil conjures the luxury and tradition of French Polynesia in Nars Body Glow. The bud of the tiare flower is soaked in the finest coconut oil and then blended for a translucent chocolate shimmer. What else you need to know: It is natural for authentic Monoi de Tahiti oil to solidify when cool, which might appear as separation. Place in the sun or under warm water to liquefy, then shake gently to blend the ingredients.

I love this product but would not use it on my face. Light feeling on the body, but probably too greasy for the face. Use a bronzer!

It's hard to say if this would break out your facial skin, but I can tell you that's it's quite oily and though it does dry well, I really think it's a product made for body skin rather than the thinner skin on the face. If you're looking for added sheen, try the Nars illuminator mixed in with your foundation. It's not an oil based product and would likely impart a nice glow/sheen without the added grease or breakout risk.

This is probably too oily and scented for your face. You may want to try an illuminating/shimmer product designed for the face, such as NARS shimmer stick or Smashbox Artificial Light Flash.

I would use this SPARINGLY on the face ALONE. Though I used it on my face and it felt light, I would not recommend piling it on or mixing with something else, unless, you use a primer on the face THEN use this. That should be enough especially now with the summer heat approaching.

Question
How do I warm the oil if it is hardened?
I recieved the oil and it is in a hardened state. Do I just put the bottle in warm water? What is the best way to get it back to liquid form?

I love this product, but hate when it hardens! It's super easy to bring it back to a liquidly state though! I just pointed my blow dryer toward it and turned the blow dryer on the "warm" setting and pointing and directing the heat around the bottle. You'll watch the product un-solidify before your eyes. Be careful not to touch the bottle if it gets too hot (it shouldn't but I don't know how hot your blow-dryer is)

Run it under warm to hot water. Make sure the top is tightly closed. Or sit it in a warm bath for a few minutes.

I've warmed up a bowl of water in the microwave until it was really hot (steaming) then placed the glass bottle inside that bowl. It usually takes a few minutes for the product to liquify and it stays liquified for a while ( a day or two). I dont recommend microwaing the bottle directly as you end up overheating the product and cant tell how hot the serum is and you could potentially burn your skin badly.

Hi,

The directions state: "Please note: Due to its luxuriously unique properties, Monoi de Tahiti oil will solidify at 72 degrees fahrenheit, without altering its quality. Warm with hands or under warm water to quickly return the oil to a liquid state. "

Hope this helps.

Just let it sit in an area that is warmer than 68 degrees F (about 20 degrees C). Coconut oil solidifies in anything colder than 68 degrees.

Sitting it in warm water may help just long enough to get some out of the bottle.

Yes. It is an oil base with coloring added, so until the oil dries completely it will get on your clothes.

I love this product and give it an enthusiastic 5 stars. However, i have to admit, i can't use it when i wear white shorts or other light colors because it will rub onto them. Also, i would recommend washing the product off before you get in bed if you dont want to smudge up your sheets! Still, its worth every penny to me!

Unfortunately, it rubbed off onto my clothes. I used it on a night when I was going out and I wore a nice black dress. The fabric inside and the area's near my knees and the dresses armholes (anywhere where the fabric rested or rubbed against skin) was glittery. Now, since then, I've cleaned the dress and the glitter came out, but I didnt want everyone to know I was wearing bronzer on my skin because it showed. Good luck.

Oily? Transfer on clothes?
Does this product leave your skin feeling oily or clog the pores on your arms/chest? Also, does the color transfer or smear on your clothes/sheets? Does it look orange? Is the smell overpowering? thanks! Oh, and does it look too un natural?

Well first, in my experience with this product, there isn't actually a lot of color that gets imparted onto the skin. The bottle seems like there would be more opaque color, but it's because there's so much shimmer in the product, and once you have it on the body, it's very very sheer. So not much color. It DOES dry quickly and I have never had a real issue with the shimmer or sheer color coming off on light clothing, so I think it's fairly safe to wear with light clothing.

I apply this the night before usually but if you give it a good hour or two, it's completely absorbed and dry. I've never had any color transfer.
It doesn't clog pores on my body, but I do not use it on my face for that reason.
It doesn't look orange. I am super fair and I get just the lovliest glow - like the beginnings of a good tan.
You probably would have to use a complementary perfume, but no, the fragrance is not overpowering. This is made the same way as real Monoi from Tahiti and smells exactly the same.

I put this on after the shower. Its like a very light oil but I think it would be best to wait a few minutes before putting anything on. I haven't noticed any stains on my clothes. This is not a sunless tanner. It smells great but not overpowering. I can only describe it as a suttle tropical scent and it does not leave my skin "sticky" or "stinky" like a sunless tanner would.

Hi,

The consultant told me to apply in the shower and then rub with a fluffy towel which dries me off from teh shower and also removes any excess product. I have no issues with any excess product left to cause staining.

Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem, half of my bottle solidified, and the other half separated. Try sitting the bottle in the sun for a couple of hours and then shaking it very well, or letting it sit in a bowl of hot water.

The product will seperate and appear to solidify if you have kept it in a cool place. Try running the glass container under really hot water and then shake it really well. If it is still solid after you try the hot water on the outside of the bottle than you may have dried it out (is it closed properly) and it may not be any good. But I don't imagine that is the case considering it is made from oil.

The same thing happened to me too after I had it for two years. I can not tell you why exactly it happened but I am afraid that it is because of the glitter particles and the oil in the bottle. When mine solidified it also smelled very odd so I decided to throw it out. I am sorry about yours!

Yes, because coconut oil (which is in the NARS) gets solid at certain temperatures, and melts at certain temperatures
Nothing to worry about!

Question
Is this a self tanner?
I am allergic to all sef tanners. I have found over the years that it is the ingredient in them that makes you tan that I can not use. I am looking for an all over bronzer that will stay put not rub off but just give my skin a nice sheen not a tan. What product would you reccomend?

No this is not a self tanner. It is just an oil with an added hint of chocolate shimmer. Its very subtle and will give you a sun kissed shimmer if you are fair skinned. If you are African American, it will provide a nice glow and shimmer to your skin

I think you will be pleasently surprised with the pretty sheen of this body oil. It is NOT A SELF TANNER. So it does take a while to dry because its an oil. I would go to Sephora and try it because some people don't like the smell.

No, this product is not a self-tanner it is suppose to 'enhance' your already sun-kissed skin.
But maybe try a waterproof make up bronzer, for your face (I think Tarte has one.)
If not, try St. Tropez (I've heard it is great)
Good luck beautiful! <3

This is NOT a bronzer, this is a body oil. You will be sorely disappointed if you buy this expecting a bronzer. It vaguely accentuates a tan that you already have, but will provide you with no real color. Skip it and go for St. Tropez - which is an amazing bronzer.
