answer 1
I keep the cap on the brush all the time and it does enable you to put it in your purse or cosmetic bag without getting the brush dirty.

The cap would be perfect for traveling! I clean this brush the same way that I clean all of my brushes; I dip them in alcohol and then wash with brush cleaner or a mild soap. I wipe the cap out with alcohol on a cotton pad.

No idea what the cap is for; if I traveled, I'd take shorter handled brushes! However cleaning is simple: room temperature water and baby shampoo.
Run the bristles under a faucet, being careful not to get water into the ferrule (keep the head of the brush pointing generally downwards). Put a tiny splotch of baby shampoo into your palm and swirl the brush in the shampoo gently. Rinse it clean under the faucet; gently squeeze the excess water out of the bristles; hang it head down in a brush holder / secured to a clothespin / whatever you use to dry brushes. Since it's small, synthetic and not too dense, it should dry completely in 12 to 24 hours.
