Questions & Answers for Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder

Question
How have these changed?
What has changed with this new version as opposed to the previous Terracotta? I used the No. 1, and I am very fair - is the 00 lighter, darker or the same? Is the base formulation changed at all? Thanks. :)

Yes. The shaded are ever so slightly deeper than previously. Not only has the shade changed slightly, but the number of shades and apportionment amongst blonde , brunette and ethnic has changed as well.

According to Guerlain only the compact packaging has changed; Terracotta scrolled across top and Guerlain at bottom.

Thank you!! Well, I guess I will see when I get my order...I ordered the #3 yesterday! Lol! And what's funny is I went into Sephora today to try it on, and I did think the 3 was a bit dark. I did like the 01 a lot, but stayed away from the 00 and the others that are supposedly meant for cooler tones. The girls there said I was definitely a 'medium' skin-tone, so I guess my fair/medium description was a little off. :p Also, when I asked the sales girl what she thought for me between the 01 or the 3, she said 01 would definitely be to light! Lol! She said she would automatically go to 3 for me. Hmmm. So I figure I'll play with the 3 when I get it and see what the outcome is with my own brushes and such...but I do think I'll be getting the 01. Thank you again for your help! :D

I have the same complexion/hair. I would go with either 00 or 01. You can always add if you need it to look darker. These are highly pigmented and what a 03 would look like on your face vs your hair line and your neck, I think you'd be mortified. Just like natural artist's say, you can always add, you can't take away. maybe go to the store to get a cheap one for areas where you want it to look a bit shady or darker? There are some excellent ones out there that I can't name on here, but you could find them, and layer them on top while still getting all the benefits of Guerlain against your skin, you could still get the look you want without having to go to so much trouble. Warm, fair/medium, definitely 00 or 01 at the darkest. Keep in mind your hair color changes the way your makeup looks, so anything that is light is going to be a bit more contrasting with your dark hair. If you go darker on the bronzer, you're just playing with changing ethnicities then. :) Hope that helps!

Nylon 12, the second ingredient listed actually absorbs excess oils with out over drying. So, yes this is good for oily skin types.

I use this over my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer -- and it acts as a bronzer and powder. But the wonderful thing is it doesn't demarcate like a powder.

I'm Italian with the same skin tone, I used bronzing powder 5. It's VERY natural. Use a light hand in the winter, in the sumer you can probably get away with a little more, but either way this shade will probably work out great for you too!

I was also sold number 3 by a guerlain representative. Though it was a pretty color you're definitely right. It looked more like a peach blush on me than a bronzer. I went back and exchanged it for number 5 and it is wayyyyyy better. It does look a lot darker and more intimidating in the packaging, but when you put it on your face you should notice that it blends more easily into your skin. also, the lighter the hand you use, the less product and more natural the finish. for reference, i wear 4.5 bobbi brown (warm natural), and number 7 in ysl foundation (warm beige). I have yellow undertones and tan easily.

I would have to say natural redheads have the coolest of undertones and I'd advise you to check out "00" or maybe "01". You want a "natural" glow so anything darker than that would be unnatural. Slowly build color with a fluffy face/bronzer/blending brush and your good to go! Hope that helps...

You'll probably want to go with shade 01. I am asian with medium toned skin and I have shade 03. Each shade is specifically designed in mind for either brunettes or blondes.

Depends on your hair color. They go by bond & brunette for the shade categories. I have medium skin tone and blond hair and bought the 00 shade. It's replacing my Stila Sun 01 if that helps.
