Questions & Answers for Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder

Question
What about deep red hair and warm fair/medium skin tone??
idea of what color would be right for me, and by looking at it online, the #3 looks the closest. But then Spehora says that for dark skin! Help!

Update: I received the #3 and tried it, and so far I think it's perfect! This product takes just a light hand, so it will last a loooong time! LOVELY bronzer!!!

Thank you!! Well, I guess I will see when I get my order...I ordered the #3 yesterday! Lol! And what's funny is I went into Sephora today to try it on, and I did think the 3 was a bit dark. I did like the 01 a lot, but stayed away from the 00 and the others that are supposedly meant for cooler tones. The girls there said I was definitely a 'medium' skin-tone, so I guess my fair/medium description was a little off. :p Also, when I asked the sales girl what she thought for me between the 01 or the 3, she said 01 would definitely be to light! Lol! She said she would automatically go to 3 for me. Hmmm. So I figure I'll play with the 3 when I get it and see what the outcome is with my own brushes and such...but I do think I'll be getting the 01. Thank you again for your help! :D

I have the same complexion/hair. I would go with either 00 or 01. You can always add if you need it to look darker. These are highly pigmented and what a 03 would look like on your face vs your hair line and your neck, I think you'd be mortified. Just like natural artist's say, you can always add, you can't take away. maybe go to the store to get a cheap one for areas where you want it to look a bit shady or darker? There are some excellent ones out there that I can't name on here, but you could find them, and layer them on top while still getting all the benefits of Guerlain against your skin, you could still get the look you want without having to go to so much trouble. Warm, fair/medium, definitely 00 or 01 at the darkest. Keep in mind your hair color changes the way your makeup looks, so anything that is light is going to be a bit more contrasting with your dark hair. If you go darker on the bronzer, you're just playing with changing ethnicities then. :) Hope that helps!

Nylon 12, the second ingredient listed actually absorbs excess oils with out over drying. So, yes this is good for oily skin types.

I use this over my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer -- and it acts as a bronzer and powder. But the wonderful thing is it doesn't demarcate like a powder.

Question
Breakouts?
I noticed that dimethicone is one of the ingredients so I was wondering if it could possibly break people out? I have combo-oily skin and some primers tend to be a miss with me if they contain things like silicone, so I was wondering if this bronzer (that I'm practically pining for) broke anyone out :O

Question
How have these changed?
What has changed with this new version as opposed to the previous Terracotta? I used the No. 1, and I am very fair - is the 00 lighter, darker or the same? Is the base formulation changed at all? Thanks. :)

Yes. The shaded are ever so slightly deeper than previously. Not only has the shade changed slightly, but the number of shades and apportionment amongst blonde , brunette and ethnic has changed as well.

Color for NC 25
I just recently bought the shade number 03 and it's a little orange on me. Reading the reviews I'm debating which shade is better and more natural looking..01 or 05? For a reference I am NC 25 with yellow/neutral undertone and currently wears the Givenchy Photo'Perfexion Foundation in Perfect Praline.

I was also sold number 3 by a guerlain representative. Though it was a pretty color you're definitely right. It looked more like a peach blush on me than a bronzer. I went back and exchanged it for number 5 and it is wayyyyyy better. It does look a lot darker and more intimidating in the packaging, but when you put it on your face you should notice that it blends more easily into your skin. also, the lighter the hand you use, the less product and more natural the finish. for reference, i wear 4.5 bobbi brown (warm natural), and number 7 in ysl foundation (warm beige). I have yellow undertones and tan easily.

I'm Italian with the same skin tone, I used bronzing powder 5. It's VERY natural. Use a light hand in the winter, in the sumer you can probably get away with a little more, but either way this shade will probably work out great for you too!

I use a small kabuki brush to apply to my cheek bones, area just below my brow and on my temples. I just apply a small amount very lightly. The result is subtle and very pretty. Stays put all day long.

I would say try 05 if you're brunette. You do not need a lot of powder on your brush

I would go into a store if there is one nearby. Generally I would go 2-3 shades darker than my natural skin tone. This product is good because you can use a little or build it up to a deeper colour if that's what you want. I also tan easily so I usually have two sets of makeup (light makeup and dark makeup) so that as I get darker I just adjust the makeup I use accordingly.

No. Whatever the shade, Meteorites pearls and compacts are made up of several different shades that swirl together on the brush, and there's usually a little bit of shimmer in there to reflect light for a "blurring" effect. This is like the original TC, and has only 1 shade in the compact and isn't shimmery. There are other versions of TC that have a blend of colors and/or shimmer that are probably closer to the Dore (golden) Meteorites.
