If you use heavy eye makeup such as primer, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara, like I do, you will have to use a gentle eye cleanser before using Josie Maran's oil to remove all your makeup. When I only use this oil to cleanse my face, all my makeup except my eye makeup will be completely washed off.

I use both everyday, and the cleansing oil most definitely removes the SPF. You want to massage the oil onto DRY skin for a few seconds, then rinse.
If you put it onto wet skin, it won't work.

First, I think that this cleanser cleans thoroughly. It absolutely removes all of my makeup very easily (including my waterproof mascara). Could be that the user who wrote that review isn't used to using non-foaming, non-drying cleansers (I've been using them for years, but this specific cleanser for 2-3 weeks). I use the cleansing oil and the JM 40+ moisturizer and I feel like it comes off completely. I only apply the moisturizer once in the AM under my makeup and wash my face in the PM, but it comes off easily.

I disagree with whomever says this desn't effectively cleanse. If used properly this is one of the best cleansers on the market. You need to apply it on dry skin and massage for a minute to break up all of the makeup and sunscreens. Then add a small amount of warm water and massage again. Rinse off and yout face will feel clean and nourished.

Does the Argan cleasing oil have a plastic cap?
Most cleansing oils have a clear plastic cap, but I didn't see it on the Argan cleansing oil. I am not sure if I just received one w/o the cap or it just doesn't have a cap.

I used to keep cleansing oil on the top of bathtub, so I'd like to keep the protective plastic cap to avoid water leaking into the bottle.

I don't know about the wipes since I haven't used them, but the bottle of cleanser is pretty large. I've been using it twice a day for 2-3 weeks and have used about 1/8 of the bottle. The instructions say to use 3-4 pumps, but you really don't need that much. I use 2 pumps. At this rate it will probably last me 4 months or longer.

I don't think the optimal use of this product is for removing makeup. It is a terrific skin cleanser, but the consistency and recommended method of use make it less than ideal for eye makeup removal--too thick and sticky and would perhaps pull on delicate skin in the eye area. Use something else for that purpose and follow up with this as a cleanser for MATURE skin.

I was really surprised at how well it does clear acne. It is able to get down deep and clean out any sebum left in your pores. I am beyond pleased with how well it has been working for my skin although I was hesitant to use this at first. I have tried everything from Rx lotions to drug store products and this has eliminated my need for those things all together. Every day my skin is a little better because of this stuff. It is strange how the skin care industry puts such emphasis on oil-free when products like this work so well.

When I saw this one, I decided to try it. I've only been using it for about 4 days and my acne has cleared up. My skin feels so soft and I wake up every morning amazed at how my skin looks....and no new breakouts, which is not normal for me. I have dry, sensitive skin and I definitely need to apply a moisturizer after using this product though I can wait a few minutes. With most cleansers I feel the need to slather on moisturizer the minute I'm done rinsing off my face, so this is still an improvement. The only moisturizer I haven't felt that way about is Ren's hydra-calm cleansing milk which I also use but isn't as good at getting makeup off.
The pure argan oil I have used on my hands and body for extra softening punch, but I'm prone to break-outs too and I'm afraid of putting it on my face so I can't comment on that.

I use this cleanser in the evening with my clarisonic. It removes all my makeup without stripping or inflaming my extremely sensitve acne-prone skin. I then mist with 100% Pure brand rose hydrasol and use about 5-6 drops of pure Argan oil on top. It's so luxurious! This combination has healed several patches of troubled skin on my face, and has improved the tone of my complexion considerably. I use a little night creme on my face afterward just because I have extremely dry patches of skin. However, I don't think everyone would need to. Just depends on how your skin feels after you put the Argan oil on. In the mornings I use Bare Minerals exfoliating cleanser, and then repeat the rose hydrasol and Argan oil process. I put just a bit of 100% Pure brand moisturizer on top of that to "seal the deal", but again I don't think it's a requirement for everyone. Josie Maran's line has made a difference in my skin that nothing else ever has--and even my husband has noticed an improvement!

I still use the pure argan oil as a moisturizer. I must add though that I do use Lancome's Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate to boost my skins clarity and just make it look younger prior to moisturizing. I use 3 drops of the pure argan oil after the serum as a moisturizer all over the face. I also use the pure argan oil for my cuticles, my lips as a moisturizer, I use a few drops after I flat iron my hair to add a bit of shine. It is great for scabs.

Just make sure you use it sparingly on the face otherwise it does get heavy.

You will need a good moisturizer after using this as it's quite drying (and I have combo/oily skin). Argan oil is just the newest "super oil" that everyone is using to try to sell us new skin care products. It's really no better than olive, sweet almond, or grapeseed oil, which you can buy inexpensively (along with pure argan oil) at your local health food store.

I'm a huge fan of Boscia and I think the Boscia Make-Up Break Up does a better job of removing makeup. However, I found it necessary to apply lots of mosturizer after using Boscia at night and that's not the case with the Argan Cleansing Oil. The Argan Oil gently cleanses your skin and leaves it feeling soft and mosturized....I prefer using it at night and then using a deeper cleanser or exfoliant in the morning.

I have both. The JM is thicker than the Boscia. I'd get the JM first. However both are wonderful products. The B make up break up does exactly as advertised. If you can get both do so. I'd be lost without them.

I like the argan cleansing oil over boscia because with Josie Maran, I feel my face is not as tight when I rinse, and I believe this product cleans better than the boscia oil; less makeup/residue on my towel when I dry my face.

I love the Boscia cleansing oil so much better! It is has a softer feel, does not tug at your skin when your using it and it actually takes all your makeup off unlike the JM cleansing oil. I have used both and would choose Boscia!!

I have used both products and think that both are very good, it just depends on what you are looking for. The Boscia Makeup Break-Up is definitely a lighter formula than the Argan Oil Cleanser, it also has a distinct cooling sensation on the skin when you use it, and it has a more natural, subtle and medicinal smell than the tropical scented Argan Oil Cleanser. Both products rinse off very well leaving your face soft and moisturized. I would say that the JM Cleanser is a bit better at melting off heavy eye makeup. Hope this helps!

I guess if you're removing the equivalent of stage makeup, this could be a prescleanse, but with normal makeup and sunscreen, I get a thorough cleanse.
You have to massage it into a dry face, (let it sit for a minute IMO) and then rinse and massage a little with warm water.

You could use it to take off makeup, but I use it as a cleanser with the Mia. I mix it with a little water and rub it on then go over everything with the brush. My skin is not oily after at all.

This is a Facial Cleanser. You do not need another cleanser to use along with this. It starts out as an oil and as you add water to it, it turns milky/foamy and deeply cleanses along with keeping your skin nourished and hydrated. I use this along with my Clarisonic and my skin feels completely clean and like silk with this cleanser.

I use the Cleansing oil on dry skin and hands and wet my Clairsonic both morning and evening cleansing. At night I use a Retinal pad all over my face and neck, then put on the Argan Oil both day and evening. This also takes off eye makeup very well.

Question
How to use with the clarisonic
I've read a lot of reviews stating that people love using this cleanser with their clarisonic, however, when I tried using it with my clarisonic it seemed as though the brush bristles absorbed the cleansing oil and nothing was getting into my pores--does anyone have good tips as to how to use this cleanser with their clarisonic? I know the directions say to apply the cleanser to dry skin then add water...

I tried using this oil with my Clarisonic and it gunked up the brush head and the brush head chamber on the Clarisonic :(
I love using both products, so now I wet my face in the shower (gently massaging my face to get rid of some makeup), then wet the Clarisonic and go over my face a few times. Once that's done, I use the cleansing oil to clean my face, then rinse off under the water. So far I haven't encountered any skin irritation issues with this method.

**Don't forget to clean your brush head every week! I use gentle hand soap, and also disinfect it with rubbing alcohol**

I haven't tried it with my clairsonic yet but I'd apply it with my hands on your dry face first. Massage for a minute then use the damp clairsonic on top. Add water as needed to get the milky consistancy and rinse off.

I don't think this product will work with a cleansing brush. It's not designed for that. I also use a cleansing brush and have started to rotate - brush one night and oil cleanser the next. I am very prone to breakouts and this routine is working beautifully for me. The JM oil cleanser is the best I've ever used.

This took me some trial and error to figure out. I squirt 2.5-3 pumps into my hands, rub my fingers together and apply to my dry face. Then I moisten my hands (which still have some of the cleanser on them) with warm water and massage the oil into my skin briefly on my forehead, nose, chin and cheeks. The water added to the oil somehow makes the oil feel warm and makes the oil turn milky (a little white). I wet the clarisonic brush head and use the clarisonic for 1 minute. I wash the cleanser off my face with warm water, pat dry and apply moisturizer.

I would massage the cleanser into dry face, and after a minute, apply the wet Clarisonic to the face. Keep wetting the Clarisonic if necessary.
All is needed with oil cleansing though, is to massage the oil into your skin, let it soak for a few minute (I do this as I do a scrub before my shower), and then rinse thoroughly.
The Clarisonic is not really needed for this kind of cleansing.

Hi, I just submitted a review explaining the way I use it with my Clarisonic. I don't think the bristles would absorb any oil as long as you don't apply the cleanser directly onto the Clarisonic. It works just fine when you apply the oil onto your dry face, wet your Clarisonic and then wash your face with it. Hope this helps!

To use with my Clarisonic, I pump 4 squirts of the cleanser in the palm of my hand. I rub the JM Cleansing Oil between my hands and spread it throughout my face and neck on my dry skin. Once I have a good consistent layer and have rubbed it in a bit, I then wet my hands and add a little bit of water to my face and rub it in with the water...try not to use too much water, you want it to be kind of a watery-thick consistency. I wet my Clarisonic's brush a little bit and then use it to deep clean my skin. After my Clarisonic has finished, I take a wet wash cloth with nuke-warm water and wipe the cleanser off my face and neck. And as my final step, I then splash some cold water to help close up pores and feel refreshed. I hope this helps.
