Questions & Answers for Ojon Color Sustain™ Color Revealing Shampoo

Question
Does this shampoo contain sulfates?
Sulfates strip the surface of the hair and therefore cause color to FADE over time. If this shampoo has sulfates in it, then it will not live up to its claim to protect hair color over the long term.

YEP! And I didn't read the ingredients before using. Color faded after a week of use. I'm irritated because I find the "formulated without" listing to be rather misleading... I should have caught the absence of "ammonium laurel sulfate" from that list

This product has only very few sulfates. Also, it's really sodium chloride that does a number on your color.

Although it does have sulfates, it seals the cuticle with all the oils in it.

It sure does ahve sulfates. Shampoos without sulfates are better for color treated hair. It's a shame Ojon doesn't list all of their ingredients. It would have saved me from having to return the product.

answer 7
Yes, this shampoo contains sulfates but SO WHAT?! Everyone is jumping on the sulfate bandwagon and it is totally unnecessary. Sulfates have been in shampoo forever. Their job is to clean the hair. This shampoo has ingredients that help to seal in color up to 40 washes. Estee Lauder owns Ojon and they wouldn't make these claims if they weren't true!

Question
What are the active ingredients?
The description of what is in the product is silly. I want to know everything that was put in the product and the order of those ingredients.......
Also, I do keratin treatments so I have to make sure that any shampoo I use is sulfate and paraben free.

It has sulfates, ammonium lauryl sulfate to be precise (the color stripping sulfate, also found in Prell). The claim that the oils prevent the sulfates from stripping color is BS too, because the sulfates strip the oils as well. Skip this, I speak from experience.

It states it has ammonium laurel sulfate, but it has Tahitian Monoi that seals the hair cuticle to prevent fading. Then also lists several flower oils, sunflower seed oil, rosemary leaf extract and Ojon oil. I was using L'oreal's sulfate free shampoo and all I know is this product performs much better. It does live up to the claim. I am very picky about my hair too.

I'd recommend the version of this product that is not for color treated hair for you to get the best results. If you search by brand on Sephora you can see all of the Ojon shampoos - I believe there is a version for fine/limp hair and a moisturizing/restoring version.

Yes, because even natural hair gets damaged by the sun, water, etc.

Skip out on this one! You will have much better results going with a natural shampoo/conditioner brand such as Avalon Organics, Giovanni, Aubrey Organics, etc! If your into big salon name brands and willing to spend more money on it, you could even try Aveda. I did not have good results with this color sustain line, and expected more. Its NOT worth the money!

You could use this even if you don't have color treated hair. Any of the Ojon shampoos can be used for color treated hair or virgin hair.
