Questions & Answers for Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer

Question
This or the argan brozer
What is better for giving your face a bit of a boost in the dry winter where we get pale and dull

This or the Argan Oil bronzer?

Is this going to make me look super illuminized if I use it all over my face or it more like a softer bronzer?

The oil is more of a body & hari oil, goopy and messy. You can feel the particles if you use it on your face (they flake off all day long). If you need a bronzer, look for another brand, maybe NARS as it has the liquid bronzer. I use this all of the time year round. It is more golden in color, and I use it on my cheek bones. My skin has alot of pink undertones, and can be too pinkish so I rarely use blush. This gives me a nice glow; not a bronze suntan look (and I am very fair)

This is definitely more of an illuminizer than a bronzer. If your looking for something more subtle, this is not it. This is illuminizing to it's fullest.

I wouldn't use it all over your face. I think that would be too much. It's really a highlighter. Not a bronzer because the color isn't dark enough.

This product is not a bronzer. It has loads of shimmer and shine. IMHO,
this is not for a daytime look product. I'd stick with the Argon bronzer to add a little color to your face in the dead of winter. Not this, you would look like a disco ball.

I have fair skin. I prefer the argan oil bronzer because it gives my skin a sheer natural bronze shimmery look. The Illuminizer is too heavy and gold and shiny on my skin, even if I diluted it with moisturizer.
PS You only need 2 drops and dont get it on your clothes

I think it depends on if you put anything over it; I use it under my foundation or with a powder. By itself - all over your face - you may find it a little much.

The Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer is more illuminating than bronzing. It does have a slight goldish glow to it, so it does give skin a bit of a sun-kissed look. I highly recommend this product. It evens out my complexion and makes my skin look dewy and fresh! LOVE IT!!

I would for sure pick the illuminizer to perk up winter skin. It gives you a really nice dewy glow. I am a fan and would use this product all year round. If you want to tone it down a bit put your foundation on afterwards. It makes a great primer too. Best wishes on finding what works for you.

This is great for winter. It doesn't really add pigment, but the shimmer does cover light discoloration. I have very light skin with olive undertones in the winter and the golden hue blends in seamlessly.

The Illuminizer is more of a soft "lit from within" bronze. It looks great when I mix it in with my Josie Maran Tinted Moisturizer. I have skin that tends to look very dull because I am very fair. You could mix this in with any tinted moisturizer or foundation and it will give you a beautiful glow. This item is more of a highlighter that also gives you a light bronze glow, the Bronzing Oil is more of a "bronzed" look. I prefer to have my skin look more glowing than bronzed. It's based on your preference and what look you are going for, both items are wonderful.

This product is super shimmery on its own, but with not much color. You can mix it in with foundation for a little boost (although it didn't seem to work for me.) I like to use it on the area under my eyes and on my cheekbones simply as a highlighter because it creates a sheen. It's not really meant as a primer or color booster.

If you're looking for color, definitely go with the bronzing oil.

it's really not that dark. i noticed that some reviewers said that it was more of a "bronze" finish, but i find it to be more of a champagne hue.... more on the soft yellow side. i have a light skin color with yellow undertones, so the product blends well, and doesn't go orange; which is one of my fears with face products like highlighters, concealers and foundations. if in doubt (and if you live near one) your best bet would be to swing by the store and have them provide you with a sample. if that's not a possibility, simply trust that it's lighter than it is darker, and as long as you use very little, and mix it with a bit of your foundation...i think you'll be pleased with the finish.

I use this product mixed with my tinted moisturizer for my face and neck and it looks great. I've not tried it on my body, and I don't think it will necessarily give you a tanner look...but I think that mixed with your normal body lotion it would give a nice slightly more bronzed shimmer. It would look especially good on legs.

If you have oily skin, you may have an issue with this product because it does contain argan oil. Products containing oil don't always cause an issue for an oily skin type, but it is a possibility. Benefit has a nice illuminizer called Watt's Up. It's pretty similar in illumination factor to this product but is slightly less golden and more taupe. The Benefit product is oil free.

Make sure to scrub before you apple any makeup.... at least once or twice a week. Moisturize as usual and prime if you have pores or texture on your skin. I use this as a primer so that may work for you. otherwise add after you prime and add your foundation and primer. Normally shine will make your skin look more oil but this products hides flaws and blemishes and gives the illusion of an over all even skin tone, adding powder lighting dusting over your face with a brush will take away that oily look. Let me know how it goes!

I believe this is a natural looking product. The glow it creates is that of moisturized skin when applied beneath foundation to the typical highlight areas. But this product is super concentrated, so if you over do it, you will end up looking other-worldly.

I think this has too much shine, and use it on my arms and legs only. For natural, look at the Becca Shimmering Skin items. I think they look the most natural. theBalm has a powder luminizer in gold, and that is gorgeous but a bit much for the day. I also like just a tad of eye shadow (white with opal), or use the BB or LM shimmer bricks for day luminizer.

Question
Can I get rid of the odor of this illuminizer? Has anyone else had this issue?
I received this product a month or more ago and just started to use it. I chose to use it alone at first and found myself a bit overwhelmed with the odor of the product. When I used a bit less and mixed with my foundation, the odor was lessened, but still very present. I like the look and feel of the product, but I do not like this odor...it even burns my eyes a little. This is one of only 2 (3?) items I own from this line and don't know if it's just old or what as the others do not have this odor. Do you think it is due to my product being out of date? I would like to keep using it but not if I cannot rid it of this odor.

Thanks in advance,
