I suggest going to a department store such as Nordstrom of Macy's because they usually have shiseido stands inside where a shiseido expert can help you out. Thats what i did and i got the perfect match

If you know what color you use in MAC foundations, you can use the Foundation Matrix on Temptalia's website to see what color you'd most likely use in Shiseido. It's pretty accurate since she let her readers comprise the matrix essentially based on what they use.

You could also try getting matched at a Shiseido counter if you have a Macy's or other department stores if you don't have a Sephora nearby. You don't have to purchase anything to just get matched, and then you can order off Sephora later if you like the match/formulation.

This foundation runs darker than than other foundations in the line. If you wear the lightest shade in other Shisheido foundations, this will be too dark.

Unfortunately, the color range is different because the formulation in Shiseido foundations have changed. Since this is the newest foundation released, I recommend you get re-matched. I was a I20 in the other foundations, but with "Perfect Refining," I am a I00. Double check to be on the safe side!

It depends on your skin undertones. I'm very fair with neutral/beige undertones so the B00 was a good match for me. And the I00 was way too yellow.

As a former Shiseido employee, I can tell you that you have to get stripe tested for the Shiseido foundation. Don't just buy the B20. Even within the Shiseido line exclusively, all foundations are not the same even if it's the same color.

I've never had a problem with having a white cast on pictures. Make sure you are color match is exact. I know this has SPF, but for me, I really only need a tiny amount. Maybe that makes a difference. Just make sure you blend it down towards your neck as well. That should help. =)

How to choose a shade of foundation with undertone options?

I didn't see a description of their undertone selection for shiseido refining foundation. From experience ivory would typically have a pink undertone and beige of course yellow. After reading the reviews some have said the beige has the pink undertones....can someone explain what shiseido says the undertones should be? I need the lightest shade possible.

If you have yellow undertones like I do, I would go for any shade with "Ochre" in it. O20 Natural Light Ochre is a really good match for me but I would like to try it the lighter shade, O00 to see if it's a better match after it oxidizes
