Its an exfoliant. For normal to dry or oily to combo skin I would recommend using this no more than twice a week because its pretty intensive. Would never recommend to people with acne or sensitive skin.

I can only compare the Laura Mercier Flawless with Clarins Gentle Exfoliant. Clarins is definitely more gentle than Laura Mercier, but I prefer the Laura Mercier because I see better results after using it. I wouldn't recommend it for everyday if you have very sensitive skin, so maybe once or twice a week, depending on how your skin is. It smells nice and I do find my face feels softer after using it.

I use it as an exfoliant. I always use a gentle cleanser first, and I have textbook combination skin. I probably use it between 2 and 4 times a week to keep my skin soft and smooth.

It works great for mine! An exfoliator should typically be used 2-3 times per week, best after showers and before face wash, for acne prone skin. I feel this is a gentle but effective exfoliator, and it has shortened the duration of pimples that could've been monstrous.

If you have acne or sensitive skin I would recommend that you DONT use this. Its very intensive, its like washing your face with beach sand. If you have raised acne bumps, pimples or whiteheads, do NOT use this product because it will open up the pimples and spread the bacteria around your face, leading to more breakouts.

I have acne-prone skin and it has not had a negative effect on my skin. I use it 1-2 times a week added to whatever cleanser I'm using (I alternate between gentle and acne-clearing cleansers).

I don't wash my face prior to using the scrub, I get my face wet with warm water, gently massage in the scrub and rinse off, then use whatever cleanser I have (for me, Christian Dior), that way im not drying out my skin, but I am getting it nice and clean!

I typically take off my make up with an oil based cleanser, and then use this with a bit of a milk cleanser as I have dry and sensitive skin. This is not a make up remover so I would first remove your make up with a good makeup remover and then use a pea size or two to gently exfoliate, then moisturize. You don't need much at all.

I use this product with a Clairsonic and have had mixed results. I am prone to dry skin, so using this with the normal brush on the Clairsonic is sometimes drying for me. However, with the sensitive brush, I have much better results.
That said, using this product alone (without the Clairsonic) gives awesome results.

I have the cheaper Olay version and I use it but I add a small amount of creamy facial cleanser (Revaleskin). I have extremely sensitive and delicate porcelain Irish skin and I get along fine. My skin has an awesome smooth texture now and it glows, even my dermatologist has commented that I look much younger than I am and my skin is beautiful. Exfoliation!

I don't use it with the Clarisonic but I do use it, faithfully, with the DDF skin cleanser system...I have used it with the brush attachment and the pad attachment and have had no problems what so ever! I love this stuff!! It has not damaged the brush at all and I am still using the very first brush that I got with it originally and that has been well over a year. It washes out completely. It also has not damaged the sponge pads either and washes out of them completely as well!

OMH I would not. It will rip up your skin. I found this too harsh for my face and use on my body. For face, I use baking soda with a creamy face cleanser, that is enough "scrub". Use this with even a harsher clarsonic you are asking for issues, your face skin will be worse than if you sat in ice cold wind for a hour (red, sore, burned) Way way too harsh

I have used both and I must say that I find this product to be just as high quality. It is a lot less expensive, but just as great! It leaves my skin just as deep down clean, soft, bright and more even toned. It is a must have!

the laura mercier product is more dense - meaning it has more exfoliating particles in it. The creamy scrub is just more effective overall - really feels like it's taking the dead skin away. The exfolikate is good but it doesn't really take the dry skin away as well as the laura face polish

Love Exfolikate but this does not even compare. I would never use this on my face again. Large particles that scratch delicate facial skin...this product is a huge disappointment and I expected more from LM :(

I have used both Laura Mercier's Face Polish and Kate Sommerville's ExfoliKate. I would consider them in different skincare categories. Face Polish is a cleanser that has smooth beads, and it's gentle enough to use daily. ExfoliKate has smaller crystals that feel rougher on the skin, and the formula tends to make my skin tingle. It is more like a microdermabrasion treatment that could be used weekly.

I have the LM. It is too harsh for my sensative face skin so I use it on my body

FOR FACE: Get this I use baking soda and my favorite face cleanser (I have dry skin and use Gergans the pink goopy thick cheap stuff but any cleanser will do)

I would not recommend anything stronger than baking soda for your face as it is too harsh

KS has great products that I love, but again anything that even feels harsher than a tiny bit of baking soda in a cream (barely notable) may be way too rough for your face.

I've got huge pores myself, to the point that I've NEVER found a pore reducing product that works. I haven't had any problems with the grit getting stuck in them so far, and I've been using the product for about 2 months now. I can't say that it has reduced the size of my pores, but the skin on my face overall looks less dull and I have found that I don't need as much foundation to cover things up now. Hope this helps!

I have large pores in my t-zone (blackheads galore) I use this product and rinse throughly and have no issues...I had the same problem with the exfoliating seeds or shells clogging my pores, but not with this.
