The package insert says:

"PHYTHEOL INTENSE is to be used 2 to 3 times a week as an initial 1 month intensive treatment."

I plan on following the above instructions then move on to once a week after that first month to see what results I get. The insert also states that it helps prevent reoccurring dandruff for up to 2 months after discontinuing product use. I should think that once a week would maintain the results fairly well. Time will tell however.

Just went to a Phyto salon, technician said to use this 2x a week. Not everyday because of the salicyic acid.

I've used this product for about 2 years and I ONLY use it on my scalp. I follow it up by shampooing the rest of the hair (scalp not included) with a different shampoo. It is rather thin and a pricey bottle, but worth every penny for the results.

I think that because this shampoo is an intense consistency, you would not need much product to really clean your scalp to begin with. Mixing with other products that you have had success with in the past is a great idea as well and has worked for me too. I always go with what I feel best in my hair :)

Question
Will the dandruff come back if you stop using the product?
I checked reviews from a few different websites, and most of reviews mention how they've been using this shampoo for years. They say it in a positive way, like the product is so good and they're loyal to it, or like this isn't like some products that lost its efficiency after a while.

However, I want to know if it's okay to use it for one month or so to get rid of your dandruff, then switch to other 'normal' shampoos? Or will the dandruff come back when you stop using the product?

My dandruff did in fact come back. I shampoo every other day (dry shampoo on off days)...and if I don't use this on my scalp and use a normal shampoo instead my dandruff is already back within a day. It's bad. Maybe your situation isn't as bad. But I will be purchasing this every time I run out. Its costly, but with the every other day us, I stretch it out. And it's worth every penny in my opinion.

I've been using this product off and on for about two years. A bottle lasts me about a month, and I probably buy 3 a year. For me (and everyones dry scalp is different) I only need to use this product 2x a week for a few months a year.

you only need a small amount mostly for your scalp .. you can even mix it with another shampoo for the ends so seems like it would last for the same amount of time as a regular shampoo

The ingredients listed include:

Sodium laureth sulfate, sodium shale oil sulfonate, and sodium lauroyl sarcosinate.

I'm fairly certain these are sulfates. Also, the active ingredient is salicylic acid 2%.
