My hair is color treated and it does fine. Says safe for color treated hair also.
If your hair is fine, I would recommend not using the conditioner AND the balm because it weighs it down. I use the Alterna shine shampoo and B&B balm and it works perfectly!

I have highlighted hair and this shampoo dried out my hair. I used a heavy conditioner to balance out the harsh shampoo, but the shampoo would leave my hair in tangles and I got tons of split ends when I tried to comb my hair.

The shampoo also smells like stinky, old men. I would recommend using something that smells better.

My hair stylist recommended I use this for my dry scalp after she bleached my hair blonde and told me to use it only once a week. I wouldn't recommend this as your daily shampoo, unless you have a scalp or hair issue. It won't help keep your hair color. I would recommend a color-safe shampoo or a shampoo formulated for color treated hair. Hope this helps!

Yes, I bought this product and the tonic spray and it has done wonders for my dry flaky scalp! My scalp is still a little itchy but there's no more flakes!!

I'd give it a try. My scalp is also oily, but hair fine and brittle from coloring. It works well for both issues.

I got it specifically for dry scalp. During the winter the indoor heat wreaks havoc on my scalp. This shampoo does soothe my scalp and leaves my hair soft and more manageble. I do rotate it with another Alterna shine shampoo.

Can this be used on oily color treated hair?

My hair has always been SO greasy even before I started coloring it. Even my hairdresser is surprised at how many different colors she can change my hair and yet it's still very healthy looking yet.... oily! Will it be safe to use this?

I wouldn't. Don't use their Sunday shampoo either. Try their new surf shampoo and conditioner... I called their NYC salon to make sure it's safe for daily use and for dry color treated hair... That surf shampoo/conditioner is such a great cleanser/conditioner

If you have oily hair these products used all together, ie shampoo, conditioner and balm may weigh it down and make more oily looking. I would use shampoo and just a bit of the balm and only use the conditioner occasionally.

Yes! Oily color treated hair is exactly what my hair type is. My hair color has not faded and my hair is not oily although I still have to wash it at least once a day. It is also not over drying.

I have oily hair as well (especially at my bangs) and so far, I haven't noticed this shampoo fading any color. I have dark hair and color it the same dark color. So I don't want to guarantee it won't fade your color, but so far, so good! :)

Good for someone who uses a lot of heat?

I am trying to find a good shampoo and cond. for my daughter and I. We both like to blow dry/straight. My daughter is 12 and has long hair and she likes it straight some days and curly others. (she is natural wavy). Also it seems her scalp is itchy and sometimes flaky after a wash. I want her hair to be nice and healthy looking even when we use the chi or blow dryer. Any suggestions would be great. To me it looks like its dry but feels oily if that makes sense.

My daughter uses the gentle shampoo and super rich conditioner. It's the first one I've used by them 13 years ago. Their straight line is great too. I had itchy scalp too from rinsing my hair with hot water. I now rinse shampoos and conditioners out of my hair with cool/cold water, all year.

This shampoo is the best ever for taming itching, irritated scalps whatever the cause. I recommend it after using to fight a scalp condition that used to require a script.

B & B makes a shampoo and conditioner strictly for blowing hair out straight. They do have samples of it and you may want to try first. I got the super sized samples in a bonus VIP reward and it works great. Only thing is I like my hair not quite so straight because it's fine. It's called B&B Straight Blow Dry.
They have shampoo, conditioner and heat activated styling balm.
On my hair just using their other shampoos and the balm is all I need. Hope this helps!

I have your daughter's hair. lol Overall, my hair's been softer whether I wear it curly or straight. It's nice and relaxed either way. I would just say that if she doesn't already, she may want to use some argon oil (lord knows, everyone's carrying it these days) to help with shine/texture when she straightens it. Just a few drops on your palm and rub your hands together, then comb them through the already straightened hair. Hope this helps!

I only used this product once, but it really stripped my hair and after one use it noticeably dulled my hair. I'm sure over time it would have dulled my natural color.

You should call their salon in NYC, I had a question about the new surf shampoo and conditioner. They're super nice and helpful. I color my hair and the two shampoos I NEVER use are this and Sunday shampoo. Love the tonic spray though, great detangler
