I would use it only as a styling product - not to be used before blow drying...

Its a clear gel, lightweight. I usually apply this after blowdry my hair and before ironing. It just makes my hair straight and really control the frizz.

They are COMPLETELY different. Brilliantine is sort of greasy, a little goes a long way and just ads that "slept in" look. This gel has a MUCH stronger hold. Hope that helps!
