Questions & Answers for Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm

Question
Comparison with Fresh Sugar
I've been using Fresh Sugar's Rose for a couple of years, but it is pretty pricey (about CDN $30 with tax) and I tend to go through a tube pretty quickly. This is a lot cheaper, and I'm wondering if anybody's compared the two products in terms of hydration and moisture?

I have and the Sugar Product is much more moisturizing (Probably why it's so much more expensive). Chubby sticks are good for a pop of color but they don't offer the same level of moisturizing as Sugar Treatment.

I use Fresh Sugar's lip treatment at night and the Chubby by day--in combination it works very well. The lip treatment does not come off during the night and my lips feels great in the morning.

I too have a couple of tubes of Fresh lips - Fresh has a great lemony smell but this Clinique in the Melon color is a great color! So easy to apply even without a mirror too.

I have also tried Fresh's Rose lip balm and I really enjoy the chubby sticks more bc you can get light to dark colors to choose from and these are much lighter feeling on your mouth. They do moisturize as well

No comparison. Clinique really knows what they're doing with lip products. I've tried Fresh's Sugar products and it is definitely a short-term relief from dryness. Not at all as long-lasting as this one!

Sugar has more silky texture than this one...
Sugar smells better and tastes better too....
But sugar likes to melt and goes super soft big time in 80 degree weather... :S

I like the sugar rose color more than chubby stick's pink tones

I have both products and would say that the Fresh Rose has definitely more of a slick texture and just adds a light hint of color that blends well with the lips. The chubby sticks are a little closer to a lipstick. They have the texture of a more waxy chapstick but are still quite hydrating and with a hint of shine (a good compromise between lipgloss and lipstick. I usually like a little more structure to the formula than the tinted chapsticks. After the product has rubbed off you will be left with a bit of a stain -whereas with Fresh you would have to reapply. You can build up the color a bit with these and i feel like they are less likely to melt in your purse during the summer months.

Does this Chubby Stick come with a sharpener for it ? Otherwise, does it fit into regular large size sharpeners for pencils?

You twist up from the silver cap at the other end of the chubby stick. So easy. All in one. No extras necessary.

No sharpener required as far as I can tell. I've only had mine for a week but it is adjustable with a softer "point" that seems to be self-adjusting. It's more moisturizing than a lip pencil so you don't need to sharpen or worry about precision/dulling.

Nope it is supposed to just sharpen as you move the stick up the tube. However I don't think it works. Once the tip is gone after a few uses it just flattens out.

You don't need to sharpen this; it's like chapstick. You twist the silver base when it runs low, and that will give you more.

I would say this product is creamy rather than moist. It doesn't feel like you're just putting water on your lips, it stays on and the cream continues to hydrate even after the product has worn off.

Question
What color would suit my complexion the best? I have fair skin with pink undertones. I also have natural auburn red hair.
The closest thing that I own similar to this is the Fresh sugar lip treatment in Rosé. The color is great on me, but I want a product that will last longer. The Sugar treatment always breaks off, so I can't justify buying again at the current price. I thought this might be a good option. Any suggestions? I'd also like to be able to wear it daily.

Hi, we have similar coloring (fair skin/pink undertones, auburn hair). My eyes are green, but I don't think it matters what color your eyes are for this suggestion. I got the Super Strawberry shade and think it looks terrific with my coloring, so I'd recommend it to you.

Not at all. It's not pigmented enough, and the consistensy is more balmy so it would move and blend with your lipstick color.

It may be too soft to be an effective lipliner. It isn't firm, more like chapstick.

The chubby stick is obviously thick so first of all, if you try to use this as a lipliner you might have a problem. Second of all, Most of the colors are very natural so if you do use this as a lip liner, you might not have the hottest effect. So in my opinion I would just use this for my whole lips.

good for the winter? what color?
i am looking for a good color to wear in the winter. Will these be moisturizing enough? I never have dry lips except in the winter, but then they can be quite cracked. Are these good and what color would you recommend for the winter? I have light-medium skin with yellow/olive undertones; dark brown hair and eyes.

I think this would be a great product for winter. It's quite moisturizing, of course this really depends on your 'winter' weather and how you treat your lips otherwise (licking, etc...) not sure on color for your tone (sorry) though.

I own two chubby sticks and love them! I'm like you, whereas my lips get super chapped during the winter. What I do is exfoliate my lips with some sugar or scrubs, and then put this on. It is super moisturizing after your first time using it. If your looking to get a more darker color for the winter, I wouldn't shy away from doing so. These sticks are SUPER sheer, but VERY buildable! Hope this helps :)

I have really dry lips and have 3 of these. They are great but they really aren't as moisturizing as Sugar Lip Treatment balms. However they do have a better pop of color. I have the same skin tone as you and I really like the colors graped-up and super strawberry. The violet color is also really fun, but a little too wild for everyday, at least for me lol. :-)
