You don't necessarily have to use a ton of product to get good coverage, if the color you're using is the right shade. My best guess for you is that the color maybe too light. I had the same problem when I first tried BE. I later went to the store and had the store associate help me choose my shade. She was very surprised that I had been using a shade that was about 2 or 3 shades lighter than she recommended. I am kind of light skinned so I assumed I would need the lightest shade. The store associate tried the medium beige on me and it was a world of difference. It actually covered my imperfections and still looked natural and has never looked orange-ish, it is perfect. Long story short, if you can get to a Sephora or even a BE store I highly recommend it. I would have never picked the shade for me that the associate did, and I wouldn't have discovered how awesome the foundation really is!

You have to get the right amount of shadow on the brush and then tap any excess off, then blend, blend, blend into your skin starting on the outer face and working your way in. I had that same issue when I got the kit, and returned it. My friend told me I was doing it wrong, so I went back and bought the kit and tried it again. I love it now! Coverage could be light to full, depending on how much coverage you want. :)
