I have the original Lipsurgence lipstick and it stays on me longer than the new luster one...but I like the new Luster colors better!

I wouldn't get it. love the others but this one has grainy bits of glitter/shimmer in it. You can feel it and once the gloss wears off, you're left with sparkles. Not cool.

The darker colors in the lip surgences are the most likely to stain. The lighter colors do not stain my lips at all. I like to put these on after I brush my teeth right before I go to sleep. They really sink in over night. When I wake up, I have a nice stain to my lips. The berrys and reds stain better in the original and luster formulas. During the day, the matte lasts longer through talking, drinking, eating.
The finishes are all different. The matte has an almost powder over lipstick effect. It is the creamiest and lasts the longest. The original has a nice slip to it. It has a balmy texture. I have heard others describe it as the look of a gloss. I think it looks like you just licked your lips, not quite what I would describe as glossy. This one stains nicely over night. The lusters are the ones that remind me more of a gloss. They have the same balmy feel as the original. They have shimmer and the same licked lip effect. The darker colors in the lusters stain the lips nicely over night as well. I find the lusters the most moisturizing. Just be sure not to apply any other balm if you are going to use it over night to stain. Just use this. Also, reapply a few times throughout the day. I personally love them. My favorite 'mix' is moody with exposed. Moody at night. Exposed during the work day with just a touch of moody so it doesn't wash me out.

answer 4
definately not the staying power of a stain, but it also doesn't have any of the down sides of a stain, weird color, drying, stinging etc............... the luster has a little shimmer to it not to much just right.

It doesn't have much staying power. It wears off pretty fast. Bummer.

i wouldn't say it was like a lipstain, more like a lipstick/gloss hybrid product. very glittery
answer 7
The "luster" variety has a tiny bit of glitter for sparkle - but in a shimmery sort of way.

I don't find this to have any more staying power than a normal lipstick! I was quite disappointed in that. I have also tried Tarte's Natual Lip Stain (the original one), and it is exactly the same, but without the added sparkle, shimmer, and glitter.
Hope this helps!

Mattes are dry. didn't like them. These are just like the originals with glitter, but I don't think they stay as long. None of them are really staining but I didn't think these left as much color as the originals.

This is not a lipstain. It's kinda like a combination of lipstick and lip balm.

None of these products are lip stains in the traditional sense. They stay much longer than regular glosses or lipsticks, but they are not going to wear for 6+ hours like a true stain would. However, these are incredibly moisturizing and actually improve your lips over time. Plus, they are really easy to carry in your purse and apply without a mirror so don't be deterred by the fact that you have to reapply. I put mine on at 8am and it lasts until lunch, so you get 4+ hours out of them, which is still really good and your lips won't ever feel dried or cracked.
The new lip lusters have noticeable shimmer or sparkle to them (but not glitter pieces). The original LipSurgence™ Natural Lip Luster has a subtle sheen, but is more like a lipstick in its finish and definitely does not have shimmer. And the mattes are true matte with no sheen at all.
These new lip lusters are definitely the most sheer out of all 3 types, but I do love the LipSurgence™ Natural Lip Luster in Adored, which is a true medium pink and wakes my whole look up without seeming overdone for day or night. All of these products are really worth the money and since the product is solid and not a liquid in a tube, it lasts a long time.
