It is supposed to be cruelty free and has been listed as a favorite product by a couple of sites that make it their business to list beauty products they approve of because they have determined they are just that. On the other hand, one line of their shampoo uses actual caviar in it apparently and killing fish is considered by some a cruel practice.

No, Alterna does not test on animals. I emailed them directly from their website, and they responded right away that they do not.

from what I've been able to gather online, they do not--but you might want to shoot the company an email just to be certain.
