The instructions say (and I follow them) to apply before all of your makeup (aka on a bare face) and then after you foundation. I put on the second coat (the one that the product instructs you to apply after foundation) after all of my makeup is done. Hope I helped. (:

I would just try it sometime when you're sitting around the house. I think its possible that it could alter the textures, but its so light it probably won't.

Yes, the instructions recommend it. I would definitely put on my eye make-up first. Once you are done with eyes, then I apply moisturizer and primer, then spray 3 times (side, front, side). I let it dry (1 minute or so) and then apply my make-up as usual. After I apply foundation, powder, and blush, I spray 3 times again (side, front, side). It is a miracle worker!

I lay my foundation primer down first and then give a spritz. Then I put on the rest of my makeup and spritz again. Always shake well before use. I make sure to spritz my eyes also and it helps to give that extra staying power to my shadow. I'm addicted to this product!

I have tried using this product without makeup and for some reason it really doesn't seem to have the same effect. I would suggest using a good primer as something to use when you aren't planning on wearing makeup that day. That seems to work the best for me for evening out my skin tone and leaving your face looking matte.

It is meant to work with makeup I think. I have worn without and it does absorb some oil..your are supposed to spray a couple times over and under makeup.

I don't know if this would help if you didn't have make-up on; I would say you need to wear a primer at the minimum. If you sprayed it, then applied a tinted moisturizer or a littler bronzer/blush, you may be okay.

I usually use it under my foundation and on top of it, but it works almost as well if you just use it under your foundation. Make sure to shake it well before you use it. Using it on top of your foundation seals it a little better, but it works pretty well either way. It does not take a lot of this product to see results.

Trust me, you'll only need to apply it as it says (before and after foundation). If you REALLY do need touch ups (which I'm pretty sure you won't), then I think you might need to take off your foundation...? I don't know. You might want to test that out and see. (:

I would use this only when you apply you make-up initially. This is not a touch-up formula. When you spray, it is like misting water on your face. It will set what is there, not add anything else. My make-up holds really well; I would just blot as needed towards the end of the day.

I didn't use a primer with this because it's kind of considered a primer BUT if I did use a primer I would go: moisturizer, de-slick, primer, makeup, de-slick again. The instructions tell you to use it before and after applying makeup. I would do it before primer since the primer is going to act as a barrier between your skin and whatever you put over it and the de-slick wouldn't really get contact with your skin if it was used over a primer. This will absolutely help you. I wear creamy eyeshadows that I usually have to fix all day, but with this spray I really don't have to think about it. I don't even carry powder in my purse anymore, just lipstick and gloss.

I am not an expert but the Sephora advisor suggested additional uses of the product which really work for me. If you spray your brush or dip "a bit" your sponge application of eye shadows in the De-Slick,an then apply, the make-up will stay in place "forever" and you will need some make-up remover to get it out...I personnaly dip a little brush to cover my eyeliner with a matching powder and it could stay for days if I allowed it...it really works

I have oily skin myself and used to have that same problem. While the issue does have to do what oily skin, this product wont necessarily be your solution. What you need is an eyelid primer such as Urban Decays Primer Potion; just put some on and underneath your eye before eyeshawdow, liner, etc, and the raccoon eye problem should be taken care of.

I'm super oily as well and living in a super humid city - it can be torture. Using the De-Slick before and after applying my foundation did not make a big difference vs. just using the All-Nighter spray only at the end of the full-face makeup application.

Since I purchased this product I have never once had an issue with raccoon eyes. I work in an extremely warm and greasy pizza place and my makeup looks like I just applied it at the end of the night ! Hope that helps :)

YES! This product wil definitely help with this. I had the same issues. I am a part-time server, and after 2 hours my make-up would melt away from the sweat and oil on my face. Spray this product on your face before and after you apply your make-up, and your face will stay perfect and fresh all day! I have oily skin too. I'm an registered nurse and was struggling to keep my makeup on for my shift. I use this with bare minerals and it is fabulous and is now keeping my makeup on for my whole shift and I think it really does help keep me looking matte. I'd also recommend trying bare escentuals prime time primer as I find this is the best primer I've ever tried and helps keeps my makeup from settling into my pores. There is an oil control one too. This is the best combination I've found. And as a side benefit my skin has improved and I'm getting way less breakouts! Good luck!

I have combination dry-oily skin, but this seems to work fine for me. I'm not sure if it'll be very effective on super oily skin since I only have moderately oily skin (only on my nose and under my eyes), but I noticed that my eyeliner and mascara don't transfer and give me dark panda eyes as quickly. I only have slight shadows which are easily blended out with a finger or brush. For super oily skin it may only slightly work. You may just want to buy it and try it for a day or two just to test it out. Sephora's great return policy allows you to do this so take advantage of it! I hope this helps!

You probably need to use an eye primer for your makeup. You can use urban decay primer potion or two-faced primer. Both work equally well. If you are doing a smokey look and have eyeshadow under your lower eyelashes, apply the primer there too! Also use gel/waterproof liners. If you like to liner your waterline, use a waterproof liner in a pot, dip a pencil in it, and use the pencil as a tool. I do that all the time. I dip my UD pencils into my smashbox waterproof gel liner pot and it stays on forever and doesn't run all under my eyes!

I've found that the product can keep your face matte for 8-10 hours. I occasionally like to spray a little extra throughout the day to be sure my skin will stay nice and matte.

This stuff will help all day long. I have worked 10-hour plus shifts as a waitress and my make-up tsay perfect throughout the whole day. It is amazing. Follow the directions by applying it before AND after you apply your make-up. Trust me, I was constantly applying make-up several times a day because the oil on my skin would break down the make-up. Now that I use this product, I only apply my make-up once a day.

For sure! Use the spray right after applying your makeup. Take oil absorbing sheets or a compact for any necessary touch ups and you'll look great the entire night and beyond

I have a very oily t-zone area that looks greasy after only a few hours after applying makeup. This has kept my face looking matte way past the 8 hour mark. I apply a few squirts before I put on my primer and foundation, and then another few after my entire face is finished. Make sure you spray far enough away so it applies evenly. Good luck!

It does for me. I live in a very humid climate and work in a restaurant where I'm constantly running and it can get really hot. I put this product on with my foundation at around 4:30, went to work, and then went out after work. When I got home at 2am my face was still matte and my makeup was still on.

i have shiny skin too! i like my face to look 100% matte and it definitely doesn't make that happen. maybe i expected too much. it helped decrease the amount of shine but didn't eliminate it. it seems to last about 5-8 hours for me. again, the amount of shine is less, but it's not matte. i hope this helps!

Definitely! I spray it on my face; giveit a few seconds to dry; put on primer, foundation, blush, powder; and spray my face again with the setting spray. I know this sounds like a lot, but it gives me a very even and finished look. I have very sensitive skin that is breakout prone and this hasn't bothered it at all.

stick with the all nighter..the de slick is EXTREMELY drying..i think its made for people with very very very oily skin...the all nighter (which is the original setting spray) is also oil free, very light, doesn't irritate the skin, and holds your make up on all day!! I love it. if you're oily..it will help control the oil somewhat..but in general you'll be less oily than normal..i was.

I think both products work about the same. I have used both and I get the same results. De-Slick may control a little of the oil, but not that much. They both make your makeup look beautiful all day. It gives you a glow.

They are two very different products :). As you can tell by the comments, a lot of people had luck with one and not the other. For example, I had absolutely no results with the all nighter, but fabulous ones with the de slick.

while the ingredients ARE similar, they do differ if you compare them word for word. i'm not a chemical engineer, but i will say if it's worth spending your money on, it should be exactly what you want :) i'm a big fan of the de-slick, and personally wouldn't settle for something else... even if it was pretty similar :)

I PERSONALLY DO NOT THINK THAT UD ALL NIGHTER AND DE SLICK ARE THE SAME. I TRIED THE ALL NIGHTER A FEW TIMES WHEN I WENT OUT CLUBBING AND IT DID NOTHING FOR ME. I PURCHASED THE DE SLICK AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. IT CONTROLS MY OIL ALL NIGHT. I HAVE OILY SKIN . HOPE THAT HELPS!

They are different de slick is specifically for oil control. Dew me is for people with dry skin who want some shine. All nighter is more of a general one with more staying power. I would exchange it depending on your skin type.

De-Slick helps more with controlling the oil where as all nighter is just a spray that increases the longevity of your makeup. all nighter is targeted for all skin types where as de-slick is meant for those with oily skin...like myself. I've tried both and with All Nighter i notice i am left with a satin finish to my foundation. however, with de slick i recieve a more mattified complexion! if you have issues with oily skin...stick with the de slick. oil still comes through the makeup while using all nighter. hope that helps some :)

its deffinately worth the price! this is a great long lasting product and does what its suppose to. i would invest in the full sice product since its only 10 bucks more and is like 10 times bigger! the trial size one will only last u a day or some and the large size should last u a month or maybe two if not used daily so its great :)

Worth the $ - it will lock in products all day. The shine may be there but you makeup will still look good. I would guess if you used it every day, you would use the bottle in a month or month and a half.

It should last you 3 to 4 months maybe even longer. Its a pretty big bottle and you just need a few mist for the effect. I notice using one too many spritz makes the whole process useless. I also only use it once unlike the directions. I still use a primer underneath my makeup and the spray for a finish.

I found that it was less effective over time. It worked pretty well for a few days, but beyond that it didn't do much. Actually, one day I forgot to use it...and my skin looked amazing!

I don't know how long it will last, since I just bought it, but it is soooo worth the price. I almost didn't buy it but my makeup stayed on for 20 hours in hundred plus days!! GO FOR IT!

If you use it frequently (1-2 times a day) and liberally (more sprays than directed on the bottle) it should last about 4 months. I hope that helps :)

How does this contrast with All Nighter?
I'm looking for a good setting spray for every day and special occasion use. I have combination/oily skin, with clogged and visible pores, T-zone shininess, but also dry patches. Which is better for me: this or All Nighter? Also, is this one vegan like All Nighter is?

Not sure if it's vegan, but this is better than the all Nightr bc it cuts down on oil, especially when it's hot. And u can always moisturizer the dry areas, but it's harder to de slick the oly areas.

I personally use De Slick a little more than I use All Nighter. De slick has both oil control which leaves a really nice matte finish without drying out the skin AND it's a setting spray, the setting spray aspect just isn't as long lasting or controlled as the All Nighter. All Nighter really keeps your make-up in place for a long time, and it doesn't make your face oily, but in my opinion it does feel a little heavier than De Slick. Also, yes, all three of the the sprays are vegan! So great, I love that!

Yes, its vegan. I'm pretty sure that all of the urban decay products are vegan.
I also have T-zone oiliness, and it definitely gets rid of that. Because of that, your visible pores, and your normal-to-oily skin, I would suggest this. (:

I didn't try All-Nighter, but your skin sounds like mine. I am super oily on my nose and chin, dry patches possible on cheeks and forehead. I was very pleased with DeSlick. I just make sure to apply moisturizer and primer to my face, spray and let dry, apply the rest of my make-up, spray and you are good to go. For me, oily skin messes the make-up more than a few dry patches. I used DeSlick at my friend's wedding and my make-up lasted from ceremony, reception, to after party. The 16 hour claims are a little lofty, but I definitely managed 11 hours.

I have All Nighter and I think that De-Slick works much better, however, I have VERY oily skin, especially in the t-zone, but it works like a charm to keep my face from becoming shiny.

This product is vegan. My skin is exactly like yours, and I unfortunately haven't tried the all nighter spray. However this spray for me, was about as effective as water. It didn't work for me at all! I'm really dissappointed by it but I'm returning it and purchasing the de slick mattifying gel.
