Silk'n SensEpil™ + Bonus Cartridge

What it is:An at-home device that offers the results of in-office laser hair removal. What it does:This over-the-counter hair removal system delivers the clinically proven effectiveness of the well-established, market-leading Silk'n(TM) device sold by physicians. A breakthrough product, it harnesses the power of proprietary Home Pulsed Light(TM) technology to create a cutting-edge, safe, and user-friendly hair-eliminating solution. This set contains: - Silk'n SensEpil device- Instructional DVD- Quick start guide and user's manual- 2 x Lamp Cartridges - Power cord What else you need to know:The Silk'n SensEpil device features state-of-the-art, skin-sensing technology that dramatically increases the safety of the already safe and reliable Silk'n brand. SensEpil's built-in skin sensor will only activate a pulse of light energy onto appropriate skin types, ensuring maximal safety. Each lamp cartridge can deliver 750 light pulses that typically cover a single complete treatment, including two legs, arms, under arms, and bikini line. A bargain compared to in-office hair removal, there is no decrease of energy during the usable lifetime of the cartridge. When a disposable lamp cartridge has reached 90 percent of its possible lifetime, the replace cartridge indicator light on the control panel will start blinking, indicating that it should soon be replaced. This cartridge-based system provides a lifetime of personal treatments at a fraction of the cost of physician office visits.Research results:With just two to four self-treatment sessions, most users experience visually diminished hair that is comparable to results produced by professionally administered laser procedures. User satisfaction and clinical results speak for themselves:- 80% of users experienced a noticeable reduction in hair after 3 months.- 90% preferred using Silk'n to visiting a spa or salon.- 90% said they would recommend Silk'n to a friend.- 90% described Silk'n as convenient, easy, useful, and innovative. Safety Information: It is designed for use on legs, arms, underarms, bikini lines, and other areas of the body where hair removal is desired; it is not recommended for use on the face. This tool is ideal for use with lighter skin tones (I - IV on the Fitzpatrick Skin Tone Classification Scale) and brown-to-black hair. See the chart

It might be that you just went tanning and the machine senses the melanoma in your skin or your skin is too dark, in which case the light next to the little skin symbol will flash orange when you try to use it (it's a safety feature), or it could be that the light burnt out.

I have been using it, sporadically, for about 9 months and have experienced a mixed bag of results. Full removal in some areas and the hair growing in lighter, finer and sparser in some areas. I would say that I have seen the least result in my underarms but, the hair is still much lighter and finer. There are no areas that have not benefitted from the treatments to some degree.

It depends how often you use it. If you use it when you are going through a new hair growth cycle or about every two weeks, it will reduce the hair greatly and slow the growth. I believe it will eventually make the hair disappear completely. It just seems to be going in the direction for me. I have only been using mine since Dec/10, or Jan/11

I do believe that over time, the hair is removed for good as such an in-office laser treatment, but the growth of each hair varies, so if one hair is permanently removed, a few months later, you may see a hair elsewhere b/c that one was growing at a slower rate. (which is why the 2wk staggering between uses)

Yes. I have used it successfully on both areas.

I seem to remember a 60 day return policy but it is worthless b/c it takes many months to see significant results (and the company knows this.) I think you have to go into it hoping for the best but realizing that it may be a total waste.

Both IPL and Laser target dark pigment in the hair. But IPL only works well on pale skin and dark hair, working best where hair is darker then skin. It cannot be used on pale, silver, grey, blond or red hair, or tanned or darker skin. Lasers can be used on a larger variety or hair and skin types.

The Silk N Device is IPL flash, which is considered a bit older technology, and a bit less "precise" or "effective" compared to the more modernized Pro Lasers in most offices. Burns can occur more easily as well, so starting at the lower treatment levels is recommended. It works by using a pulsed light to disrupt the hair follicle. Results from Laser and IPD seem to be very comparable for most. Pro level treatments are typically more powerful, and better targeted, so you may need less treatment sessions for same results.

Laser light uses a laser to target melen in hair, IPL uses

Question
What does use of product FEEL like?
What would you compare the feeling of the use of the product to? I have seen some other reviews on different websites that say it's like a rubber-band snapping on your skin. Does it really hurt that bad and how long does it take for the burns to go away?

It hurts like a rubber band at level five and even then it's more like someone is taking a hairtie and snapping it only halfway. The burns, depending on your skin sensitivity dissappear within a few minutes to a whole day. For example when I use the sensepil on my calves the burns dissappear in two to three minutes but take a good eight to ten hours to fade on my thighs.

Question
Where can I download the FDA approval for SensEpil?
Hi,

I visited the FDA website and couldn't find the information about the product. It's probably because their website is extremely confusing. So I would appreciate it if you can provide the link to SensEpil product information on the FDA website.

Thanks!

Question
I just purchased this system. On Friday I used it on my face and underarms. Has anyone experienced the following side effects?
This morning, where I used the laser on my face, was spotted with crusted over areas that had in grown like hairs. Some were quite painful and I had to remove the hair. My underarms have pimple like spots with a mix of red spots. I'm pretty hairy, and I will definitely continue using the system to eliminate the hairs - I'm just wonder if anyone else has experienced this? And if so, does it eventual stop?
