Yes! This product is fantastic! I have very thick and curly hair as well. I bought this product about a month ago and I have only used maybe 1/4 of the bottle (thats how little you have to use). It has honestly been the only product that has made my curls bouncy and soft ( a combination I didn't think was possible). I 100% recommend this product!

answer 2
If by taming you mean defined soft curls than yes these products are GREAT for that!! You would need to apply in sections if you have longer or thicker hair and not use too much of the gel as to much causes some hardness - I use a dime size on my shoulder length hair and it is effective for curl definition all day! The conditioner I use a bit more as my hair loves and soaks up conditioner... The botanical boot is used as a refresher for curls...

a\I recommend a combo of moisture lock leave in condiioner and using the botanical boost spray several times a day -- it really calms curls, banishes frizzies, and looks super natural! I'd recommend the curl kit as a 1st purchase to try out all three, Good luck!

The leave in conditioner as long as you use as suggested should help tame your curls. The gel does help with the frizzies. I also suggest finding a good mousse for more control.

It is worth a shot. If it doesn't work, then return it right away. Sephora will refund your investment. Check out the videos at Ouidad for the Rake & Shake method to be used with the Expert Curl Kit product. There is also a twisting method that they demonstrated on someone with kinky curls to tame them, and a pin curl method. But I believe you will need the Curl Quencher Moisturizing Shampoo and the 12 Minute Deep Treatment in addition to the Expert Curl Kit for real results and less frustration with your hair. It worked for me. But frizz and less bounce to my curl and tangles were my frustration before I tried this. My hair is long medium to thick and curly and frizzy as I am half Puerto Rican. And my hair got frizzier when I started coloring. These 5 products worked for me when nothing else did. Now my hair is healthier and softer with prettier curls thanks to Ouidad. I haven't tried this with straightening my hair but the products say they are compatible with encouraging curl or styling it straight with heat. I let my curls air-dry. Good Luck!

I, too, have very thick curly hair, and it is the best product I have found so far. I know, it is hard to find a decent product. I would go for this kit (it is rather reasonable), and try it out for yourself.

Give it a try! The kit is definitely the way to go. I have thick hair as well, so I'm going to try using more of the gel to see if that eliminates that last bit of frizz I still have underneath. It doesn't leave my hair hard, that's why I like it.

Question
Am I using it wrong?
My hair is naturally wavy and frizzy. I was hoping this product would fix the problem and I could actually enjoy my hair, instead of having to straighten it everyday. I can't figure out how to properly use the clips, and the top layer of hair keeps ending up with a crunchy texture. I am following the (limited) directions that came with the product. What could I be doing wrong? Please and thanks.

The climate control gel might be to heavy for your hair. I use the conditioner in the shower, rinse, and then apply it again after I get out, but before I wrap it in a towel. After that I use a very small amount of the gel in the areas that look a little flat. Hope this helps.

My stylist recommended smaller clips for wavy hair (I am a 2b) and they've been working great. She puts them in from the top, going against how the hair falls and pulls up a bit. This way, it's easier to remove them when your hair is dry. Try using the botanical boost to de-crunch your hair after it's dry.

Try the Ouidad website. I think there was a Q&A about the gel that addressed the crunchy feeling. There are videos and lots of info about curly hair.

If your hair is extremely dry I would recomend also using the 12 minute deep treatment conditioner. The clips you should turn on their side and run them straight back along your scalp line, if you have a hard crunch top layer you are using too much product, less is more with the gel, the conditioning is what keeps the frizz down. The quidad website also has tips and VIDEOS! good luck!

I was in your same situation. I have wavy hair that never looks good enough on its own, so I either have to straighten it or to curl it. When I first tried these products, I absolutely hated them. Now, I can't imagine using any other brand of curl enhancers. First, I gave up on the idea of following the rake and shake instructions completely. I just couldn't ever do it. I just clip my hair into min-buns, and I have lovely waves. Also, I was using way too much product originally, so my hair looked crunchy. I only use about a quarter-size drop of Heat and Humidity gel through my medium-length hair, and that's enough for me. You shouldn't use very much of the Moisture Lock after washing your hair either, or it will look greasy. Last, try going directly to the Ouidad website for styling tips. They have a section where you can identify your type of curly hair to pinpoint exactly what products you should use. They also have great instructional videos and other tips to make your curls stand out.

I would guess and say no. It actually seems to calm my curls so I very seriously doubt it would add curls to straight hair. There are some other products out there for that. I think you could use this to tame your flyaways. Just add a pump or two of climate control in your palm, rub hands together, and work through your hair. Start at the ends first and then move to the crown, working through. Climate Control will help your hair stay in place. Hope that works for you.

Ouidad's moisture lock, climate control, and botanical boost are awesome. Their shampoos and conditioners are ok, but I like DevaCurl's better. The best advice I can give is to go order "Curly Girl: The Handbook" by Lorraine Massey. Read it cover to cover. It will change your life! Sadly the book is not available through Sephora.
