You only need to use a tiny bit, so once a week, should last for ages. Thing is though it is pretty pricey and there are other lip polishes/exfoliators out there that will do the same thing. Guess it all depends on how much you like the scent of brown sugar :)

You apply it, buff it with your fingertip, and then rinse off with warm water. It comes off easily, and your lips stay smooth, without the grainy residue other products leave. I suggest following with a lip moisturizer to protect and "lock" in the results.

YES! Excellent idea. This little pot is a big disappointment and any other scrub you own would work just as well, especially the Fresh Brown Sugar Body Scrub. It's basically the same thing, except the body scrub has a bit of an oilier consistency.

I was wondering the same thing, since this product is pricey. But, I sprung for the lip scrub, and found that it is MUCH more moisturizing than the body scrub. So, though the body scrub might work (and I would give it a try if I had any left) I don't think it would leave your lips as hydrated as the lip-specific scrub does.

The scrub is much coarser then the lip polish. I have both and after trying the lip polish, I couldn't imagine using the scrub on my lips. The polish has very fine granules of exfoliants (so a little does go a long way) and it doesn't have the oily finish that the polish does. That being said, a lip balm is a must after using the lip polish.

Question
Not "scrubby" enough?
I got this as part of a gift set and at first I wasn't thrilled with the Sugar Lip Scrub. Maybe I got a bum piece of product or maybe it's the overall consistency of the forumla. When I used it, it felt too greasy and not much scrubbing power.... infact, no scrub at all. The product is a sugar based scrub with the idea being that the brown sugar is worked into the formula and provides the scrub this product is supposed to have. I've played around with it and found a solution that works for me: First, I moisten my lips, swipe a very small amount of the product on my finger, dip the finger in white sugar and then scrub my lips. If regular white sugar is too rough then you can use Berry Sugar which has much finer granuals; a light dab of the Berry Sugar is what works best for me and I couldn't be happier with the slightly modified, stellar, awesome product. I use it once a week and then apply either the Advanced Lip Formula or else any of the other great Sugar Lip products. Beuatiful, pillowy soft, kissable lips!!!

For a more concentrated exfoliation I use the Fresh Lip Polish on dry lips. For some reason it seems to exfoliate better that way. You need such a minute amount that the tub will last ages. I follow up with my Hourglass Lip Oil first then add my Fresh Sugar Advanced Lip Balm in the white tube.

I thought there were not as much exfoliation as I figured there would be, but I personally thought that was a good thing because if you're using this product, your lips are probably pretty dry and chapped, too much exfoliation is just going to tear them apart. In my opinion, I thought it was the perfect amount of exfoliation-hydration ratio.

Chemical ingredients
I was under the impression things like Tocopheryl Acetate, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Limonene*, Benzyl Alcohol*, Linalool*, Citral* were not very "Fresh" ingredients at all, but rather harmful chemicals. Curious to hear what others have to say, because I think it would just be better to make my own. (Sugar+honey+jobobba oil is one recipe I've heard)

I used about half of my Smashbox Lip Exfoliant until I realized it wasn't really doing much for me. The different sized particles weren't very effective and I found that after a while, it would become oily and not much of the actual exfoliant came out of the tube. I recently bought this lip polish and it is so much better. It is more abrasive, but that contributes to its being more effective at buffing away the dead skin off my lips. The taste is not as great, but I would choose this over the Smashbox any day now.

The Tocopheryl acetate is derived from Vitamin E. It's what's found in "Vitamin E" creams, lotions, lip balms, etc. It has nothing to do with wheat, so you should be fine there. It shouldn't bother you unless you have allergies to Vitamin E.
