Size of wells

How deep are the wells? Do you have to melt the lipstick to get it in or is it deep enough to just scoop from the tube into the well?

It's better to melt the product first - as it forms to the well and stays in place. If you scoop and smash it may make a big mess.

You can scoop it in, but you won't get that clean of a surface to work from like you would have if you purchased a palette of lipsticks.

the wells are about 4 mm deep, 2 cm wide, and 1.3 cm long (which sounds tiny, but it worked completely perfectly for me). you don't have to melt the lipstick, but the mirror's pretty close to the pans so if you don't smooth them enough it would get all over the top. i'd recommend just melting the lipstick. it takes next to no time to melt and looks so much cleaner.

Can an entire tube of lipstick fit in the wells?

A lot of reviewers talk about melting the remnants of a tube of lipstick into the palette. I want to use the palette to melt down 8 full standard size tubes of lipstick. Can this be done or are the wells too small?? Thanks!

I cut off half of a standard tube of lipstick and it filled the well. This is actually perfect because when the well is empty, I can refill with the remainder of the lipstick. Have fun with it!

You are not able to use an entire tube. It takes about an inch per well.
