You can use a primer with this shadow, it will also apply flawlessly by itself.

I've used it both with and without primer and it does noy seem to make a difference. There was no difference in colour payoff. The shadow also did not crease on my oilyskin without primer. I'd say save your primer for other shadows.

Wait a minutes for it to dry, then put a little bit of hairspray on your finder and dab it on (don't rub or it might mess up the eyeshadow) I have done this and it doesn't crease or come off until I take it off.

Question
Brush ...?
Just wondering which brush you'd all use with these eye shadows. I suppose one can use them as eyeliners, too? I have eyeliner brushes and a couple eye shadow brushes, but I don't know if I should buy a new shadow brush. Honestly, I am confused by all the various shadow brushes; I just need to spend some time reading about them. But for now, which brush is best for these?

I used my finger to apply to the eyelid just below the crease. I don't feel the need for a special brush just for this particular shadow. Use either a good-quality flat brush or, if your using it in the crease, a crease or shading brush. Wipe your brushes with brush cleaner. Both Sephora and BE have excellent ones.

I agree, the Bare Escentuals Buxom "Stay There" Eye Shadow brush is great for these shadows. All of these colors can definitely be used as eyeliners with your eyeliner brushes, as well. Generally, synthetic brushes are great for cream/liquid-textured products and natural-bristled brushes are perfect for press/loose powders. I hope this helps!

it's a cream, not unlike ysl waterproof eye color, or shiseido. i believe dior still makes a waterproof eye cream color, too. i hade a dior shade in white lights. to get the color to wear longer and cease from creasing, try b.e. lid primer, which is good. although, i have to say that urban decay's primer potion goes above and beyond making a color stay put. i hop that helps. :)

Most of the time, I use these as liner! I have found no need to even wet the applicator. I just use a small sponge-tip liner brush, "dip" it in and line away. I usually use 2 coats but it DOES NOT budge all day and is a great change from pencil. They glide on smoothly and don't "sprinkle" all over my face as long as I tap the brush a little first. Give them I try. I bet you'll love em!

Question
Is there anything special you do to help these last longer?
I've tried the Buxom ES in Mutt, but it creases on me within a few hours, doesn't last and is most definitely not waterproof. Since the reviews for this product have been so outstanding, I was curious as to whether or not anyone had any special advice on using them? So far I've only applied the product with my fingers, but I really love the look and texture. Thank you!

if you like the consistency, then a brush made for cream shadows should spread more color. Using your finger to spread the cream probably comes out more sheer. But I did find that I needed a lot to get coverage. It needed prime time eye primer under it.

If you are not already using an eye primer, I highly recommend Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I have tried many of them, and that works the best for me by far. When I got this in Mutt, I experimented. I have golden retriever. Looking for a nice sheer copper metalic color for the summer. Does not apply as glitter (twinkle toes) as it looks in the container. It has a very nice light subtle color with just the right intensity to be there, but not scream in your face, or be way over the top for us older gals (such as the UD colors and crayons). Doesn't have that super shine like the Benefit (I find some of the colors like RSVP to highlight every wrinkle in my lids). This has just enough color and sparkle. I like it so much I may buy another like the white which I wear just as a light swipe across the lids. The downside is they are expensive for what you get, and will dry out. Made in the USA is a top consideration - so keep that in mind when you look at price.

Not sure which colors to suggest for you.

But I can confirm these eyeshadows are very shimmery (especially the lighter colors) but not sparkly/glittery. And the colors go on very true-the color you see in the pot or on the website is the color they apply.

It depends on your habits, I think. Personally, I have a drawer FULL of shadows I have grown tired of and don't use up, so I welcome a smaller amount because I'll probably actually use the whole thing and feel like I got my money's worth! If you're the kind of person who will use the entire pan of eyeshadow, maybe this won't be as good a deal. Also - I bought the brighter colors (St. Bernard!) that I DEFINITELY will only be using this on rare occasions, so a smaller amount also makes sense. Bottom line - if you like it and you'll use it all up, it's a good value.

While small, they are so pigmented and I don't find myself using as much of the product as I initially thought I would. Realistically, they are the same size as BE shadows, and it took me close to 4 years to empty the jar of a shadow I use daily (Nude Beach). I don't think these will last nearly that long, but I'm hoping half the time :)

A little goes a long way with these, so the size of the product is not really an issue I don't think. Besides, you don't want the shadow to "go bad". Since it is a moist wet/dry kind of thing -- you wouldn't want to have it for years and years or anything. My only issue was that the opening is so small that it is difficult to get your finger in and I have found that the best way to apply this, as it doesn't adhere to my brushes that well.

A little bit goes a long way! Use a brush to layer on the color so none is wasted!

They are highly pigmented, so you'd only need a little per application. Using sparingly would probably be a good idea as well, because they can look cake-y if you put on too much. I would say they are definitely worth it.

yeah, the tub is pretty small, but you really don't need alot when you use it. a lil will go a long ways with this stuff, you may benefit from the brush, if you have longer nails it does kinda get crammed underneath them and that wastes some, but dont worry, it stretches pretty far :)

Question
Any problems with drying?
I'm curious if anyone has had problems with this product drying out in the pot. I purchased Buxom's cream lash liner and it dried out on me. I was wondering if the eyeshadows have the same problem, or if they keep their nice, mousse-like texture over time?

I have several of these-some I've had for quite some time-and I've not had a drying out issue with any. In my products, they've kept the original spongey texture

I have had mine for over a month and a half now and I don't seem to have any problems with the consistentcy. It seems to be in the same form that I bought it.

This product does not dry out as quickly as the Sephora creams do. Of course you have to be sure to close the lid tightly but if you do, the shadow lasts forever. I have mine for almost a year now and they are still the same quality as when I purchased them.

Mine haven't dried out, but I've only had them for a few weeks. One of them in the store was kind of crusted over, but I can imagine what it went through being a tester!

I says on the package to close it tight so I would assume it may dry out if you leave it open. So far mine is fine, I have had it for two months now...

I haven't had a problem with that. People complain that they're pulling away from the sides of the pot, but in my opinion, that's just a property of the formula. I think of it like cake in a pan...it will shrink up a bit after its filled. I keep the pots tightly closed and have never had a problem.

The Stay-There Eye Shadow that I purchased (Pug) was dried up in the jar when I first opened the packaging, so much so that the shadow had completely pulled away from the sides of the jar and was turned on its side. I ended up returning the shadow for this reason. However, while drying up had reduced the size of the shadow, the texture had actually not changed much. If it is only texture you are worried about I think this is still a good purchase.

Mine have lasted months and months without any problem. I keep them in a make-up case and not in the bathroom, so they are always in a cool and dark place.

the shadow doesn't smudge on lids or dry out. The container needs to be shut tightly but as it seems to have a gel base while having a mousse texture, it would only dry out over time if left unclosed.
