I would deffinatley go for the Original. As you age, you want your skin to continue to have a youthful glow. If you have oilier skin, put a nice setting powder on top of it, but I would say deffinitley get the original.

I would take into consideration your pore size and level of oil you have on your skin. If you have large pores and are oily than I'd say use the matte if your pores are smaller and you have combo skin or dry skin I'd use original.

I would go for the original which has a soft glow to it. I think you would find the extra softness shimmer would accent your skin nicely. I might try the matte in cheek color and eye shadows and then at the brow, just below your eye brow, brush a think line of the shimmering highlighter shades to brighten and open up the eye.

That depends on how oily your skin is! If you have dry or dull skin then go for original, but if you have oily skin then go for matte - Wash your face, and then wait an hour without putting anything on it and the look at your t-zone for shine! If it's really shiny or oily then fo for matte :)

Then you get warmth all over face color. That's for accenting. You can watch the DVD to learn how to use that product. To finish off the look, Mineral Veil adds a very light sheen to you look. I think it softens the overall appearance of your makeup.

Yup! It's "customizable" because you get 1 full size foundation in the color that matches your skin, along with the brushes, dvd, primer sample, jar of Warmth and the mineral veil. The box has an empty space open for the foundation to go in, and the rest of the goodies are enclosed within the box itself. For the foundation, you pick out the color you need out from the display, and then pop it into the empty slot in the box if you are in store. Hope that helps!

The "mineral veil" and "warmth/all over face color" are NOT the foundation. They are additional mineral-based power make up that you apply as finishing powder and as bronzer. I think every store is different. I went to the Tampa sephora and didn't see this kit, and didn't see it in Denver, CO. I DID see it in Augusta, GA last weekend. I think it's better to just order it online and keep your receipt. You can always return it to the store and work with a makeup artist there to find something closer if it comes to that.

Yup it applies in stores as well! The cashier will put in the discount. They ring up your kit, and the foundation separately, and then take off the $14. So it looks a bit confusing on the receipt, but it will come out to $60 just like it does on the website. Both my grandma and I got this kit in stores yesterday and that's what they did for us. I think that this product is great for people with larger pores since it won't clog them like most makeups will. I find that most powders don't become cakey unless you layer on too much. A little goes a long way with this product and you don't really want to be able to tell that you're wearing it. It will adjust the imperfections but it isn't going to give the "I'm perfectly airbrushed with no pores" look. It won't look cakey.

My skin gets oily in random spots, and my skin tone is sort of patchy-red in other random spots. Plus, I have big pores around my nose and my forehead, but not anywhere else. What a pain!

I've found that bareMinerals works perfect for me. It makes everything look even and smooth. The best part is that I can layer it on for more coverage when I want to look extra-nice. When I'm going to work, I'll do a pretty quick application that still makes my skin look even. If I'm going out, I go over my face a few times until I look flawless. It's super easy and looks awesome!

Even with several layers, it never looks (or feels!) cakey. Make sure you exfoliate your face and use moisturizer, because it will make little peeling pieces of dry skin more noticeable. I usually use tweezers to pull off those flakes of skin.

I have oily skin with large pores also...especially on my nose! I will be honest. I love the Bare Escentuals line, but I can still see my pores some on my nose. I rarely use the primer though, and that's probably why. Worse case scenario, if you don't like it, they will take returns...no questions asked.

If you happen to be near a Sephora store you can walk in and they will help you pick it. They'll even apply it for you so you can learn the procedure! I suggest getting the starter kit, it also has a DVD so you can see the best selling product line and how to apply. If you're not near a Sephora store, you could try your nearest beauty store and ask them your skin tone. Don't forget to keep in mind your skin type when picking your foundation!

The best thing I did was walked into a Sephora location. I had a beauty rep assist me on finding my perfect shade. In terms of skin color I fall in the Tan catagory. She picked some tones to test on my face. She was very helpful and patient. Bare Escentuals has 5 specified shades to choose from, Light, Medium,Tan, Dark and Deep. Within those shades each has a brake down of 4 tones. A total of 20 tones to choose from. My Beauty advice, determine your shade, (Light, Medium,Tan, Dark and Deep) , then test which tone falls within your shade. I'm sure you will find your ideal shade!
