Questions & Answers for Peter Thomas Roth Age Defense Kit

Question
Age Defense or Acne Kit for me?
I'm 43 with combo skin, mild acne, and a few forehead wrinkles. I am interested in the PTR line and I'd like to try one of the kits, but I'm not sure whether to start with the Age Defense Kit or the Acne Kit? Thoughts?

I think you have to pick which is your greatest concern the mild acne or the fine lines...that being said i had just had a small break out and this totally helped and the little dark spots that are left behind the pesky blemishes flaked off after a few days. It's like it know what to slough off. It's a fantastic product. I understand for acne what one needs is a salicylic acid to break up the sebum (blemish kit) and the glycolic acids etc found in the age defying kit go deeper for cell turnover. :)

If you have an acne problem use the line for that problem but if your interested in keep face youthful then absolutely use the age one the product are completely balance and truly from the moment you use the wash you see the difference right away on night with the creams and you see a turn around we're face looks more healthy people tell me all the time that I look better ever time they see me

I have the same problem. At 47, I though acne was behind me! I found that the anti-aging kit worked for me because the gel and buffing beads are gentle enough not to irritate my skin but are strong enough to wash away all of my makeup - something that I need to avoid breakouts. I also have combination skin, so I have had issues with heavier creams associated with anti-aging products. With this kit, however, I haven't had any problems. I'm looking forward to trying other products in the line! Good luck!

In my experience you should first address the acne, the age defense kit made mine like 5 times worse than it was before.. it threw off my skin balance by overdrying it and my skin is stil recovering two weeks later.. probably wont look betteer for another two.

I recommend age defense - it definitely will clear your complexion without being too drying for mature skin. And the retinol fusion pm is by far the best PTR product , you will see results within days - can't complain about the sample size.

Think of which need is greater: your acne, or anti-aging. I have really oily skin due to hormonal changes, but stay on top of it (so no big acne problems yet, just a few tiny breakouts every blue moon). As for me, I get the age defense kit, because it takes care of both needs for me: keeps my skin fresh, and beats back the clock a little bit for preventative measures.

If you do get the anti-aging kit, though, use the serum sparingly! Put a couple of drops in your palm, rub them together, and massage into your face nightly.

Hope this helps!

I would recomend the age defense kit but with a kicker. I have been using PTR Acne Clearing Gel and I will never be without it. This stuff is magic. It keeps my skin clear and works wonderfully with the Age Defense products. The clearing gel also helps with fine lines so it is a win-win.

You can either mix the retinol serum with your cream or then apply retinol first followed by cream. Good way to remember is use the heaviest last. so cleanse, serum, cream. Ad don't forget your eye cream as your final step. Using our ring finger pat lightly around the eye socket bone. Never to soon to start caring for you eyes and the wrinkles we all get.

For me this set is lasting a long time. I don't use the product heavily - a little goes a long way. The face moisterizer will probably go first (1.5 months maybe) and then the serum (guessing 2 months) and the rest will last much longer as it's highly concentrated.

I just purchased this kit after all the great reviews. I'd love some tips on the best ways to use the products (i.e. evening, morning, 2x/day, etc.). I would especially like to know whether you should use the Mega Rich at night with the Retinol or whether the Retinol should be used alone.

I'm using the retinol and the mega rich together at night with great results. The instructions on each product don't really tell you what and when to use these combinations, it just made sense to me after using other products with similar ingredients in the past. If you have a question about the right way to get the most from these products, I would suggest going in to a store or calling customer service to get more information. I'll probably go to my nearby store when I'm ready to buy full size products in this line after using the kit.

Saying that, I have just bought the Age Defense Kit and I will use it as directed. It says at night use the Retinol Fusion PM and follow with the Mega Rich. In the daytime, use the Mega Rich without the Retinol, follow with the All Day Moisture Lotion for the sunscreen in it.

Hard to answer but will try. If ance is drying up does that mean it's getting better and you skin is red from being upset from pm retinol. Maybe try only using the pm retinol every couple of days and see if redness gets better. Sometimes you you to work your way up to every night. Also make sure you moisture even with ance prone skin. If skin does not get better after easing
up on pm retinol I would consider changing. Keep this in mind though this
product does a great job cleaning pores which if there is bacteria ialready in the pore you could in turn have a breakout until pores are cleared
out. I would give it some more time if this emakes sense, if this doesn't
like the issue maybe you should change. I use this with the unwrinkle kit also I love the unwrinkle pads! I am new user to ptr but I think his products are wonderful so far and will be a lifetime customer. I hpe this may help and things get better.

There are instructions on the packaging, but how I did it last night was: exfoliated with the buffing beads; cleansed with the cleansing gel; treated the skin with the Retinol Fusion serum; applied the Mega Rich Cellular Cream. This morning, I cleansed with the gel; applied a sparing amount of the Mega Rich Cellular Cream and used the moisturizer. *Note: directions on the Mega Rich Cellular Cream state to use morning and Night. But the website says moisturize at night with it. I agree with using it at night only, as it is too rich and made my face feel slimmy under my makeup (even though I used a sparing amount).

I have heard you could they say it's best to use in the AM (if you use this and are a first timer) then i have heard you may work up to twice a day. Personally, i think that may be too much. Optimally, i read it's best to use a few times a week to not thin out the skin. Also, i understand that the glycolic acid can hinder the effects of retinol, now i don't know how that would work as this is a rinse off after a few minutes the pads (and some leave it on i hear). I'm planning on getting them and just using in the AM, rinsing, moisturizing and carrying on with my day. :)

If you have really oily skin, just wash with the cleansers in the morning to wash off all oils and moisturizers and don't add any more creme. The glycolic acid in the washes help to really cleanse and tighten skin. I think once the skin goes thru this purge process (which i didn't experience) it helps to balance your skin. For instance my skin is a bit dry right now and this has helped add moisture. If i don't use for a few days it starts to get a little dry again. My point is whatever skin type you have you will have it, you can only keep it at bay by either adding more or deleting creams, using face washes with glycolic acid to help balance out your condition. I myself love oils and creams :) but to dry it rite up the wash cleanses out everything... i have to add a moisturizer right after :)

If you have oily or combination skin these products will definitely complement your skin. You'll love the face wash and scrub. The retinol serum has a pore-shrinking, immediate effect. The anti-aging cream and mosturizing sunblock are light. I know when one has oily or combination skin one is tempted to skip the sunblock, don't! Specially if you're using retinol treaments.
