Questions & Answers for Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve in a Tube

Question
SCENT
A friend recommended this product to me so, I put Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm in a tin to my shopping list. I love strawberries yet, I find that the tube would be more convenient. Can anyone describe the flavor / smell of the original?
&
How does this measure up to Carmex in the tube form? I'd like to add that when I bought Carmex (in the tin) at my local store ...(tmi= I had a cold sore...told carmex works for my issues. WRONG! NOT FOR ME) !
Tin *the balm) tasted horribly (and no, I'm not eating it lol) and smelt HORRID. Does this happen to everyone or could it just me? Oh and it wasn't expired! Bad luck, hence this question :) And now, I'm afraid of buying tim lip balms in a tin. lol

Thank you for your time :)

If you like regular Vaseline, you shouldn't have any issue with this product. It smells, tastes, and looks like Vaseline. The only difference is the color...and Rosebud Salve tends to have a slightly lighter feel (not as thick and greasy as Vaseline).

the original has a hint of roses. it smells great to me. i highly recommend this tube- its a miracle worker.
carmex on the other hand works well too. but when your not using it your lips tend to be drier than normal. i recommend using a petrolatum(petroleum) base product. like *rosebud salve in a tube*
also, personally i wouldnt get anything in a tin because sticking n your fingers can cause bacteria in it and then spread. application in a tube will do you better justice. Rosebud salve is a multitasker. must try it!

The taste is very light and although "rose" isn't something you'd normally think of as a flavor, it's very nice and refreshing. As to a comparison to Carmex--it doesn't have the same cooling sensation that Carmex has, but I'm not sure about Rosebud's healing properties.

It has a nice slightly rose like scent and it works great on my chapped lips. I have the tin and I have the tube. The tube is great for my purse. I also use a lip brush with the tin since sticking my fingers in the product doesn't appeal to my good hygiene side.

The regular rosebud doesn't taste like anything, but does miracles on my cuticles and lips- and where my cat scratches my hands and forearms- I don't have cold sores, so can't comment. I do not like Carmex-drying

The original Rosebud Salve in its pretty tin smells like delicate spring roses - and has practically no taste...maybe just a bit like roses. The berry formula does taste a bit like berrys - and I love that taste on my lips. The menthol or mint formulas might be better for cold sores. The new tube is the same formula as the original rose scent. I use it as a lip gloss - and for chapped lips.

To answer your question about the smell, you can smell the rose scent, but it's not very strong. I used to use something in a tin, and I think opening the tin, and exposing all of it really enveloped your whole space with the smell (my husband hated it when i would use the stuff around him). They make special products specifically for cold sores at most drugstores, so if that ever happens again, just go for the cold sore product.
I kind of feel that, in the tube, only a little comes out and you're not exposed to a lot of smelly product at once.
Compared to carmex... carmex has a sort of menthol feeling to it. I would compare this to vaseline, but a little thicker. It might sound nasty, but it really isn't. I think the consistency is even smoother than carmex.

YES on the petrolatum; it's listed as the last ingredient. While the item's page says 'no petrochemicals', anything that says 'petro-...' is just the same category; fossil-fuel derived.

The 'without" portion clearly states no petrochemicals, but this products primary ingredient is petroleum. I prefer to stay clear of this item, most mineral oil/petroleum based balms and such tend to have an aftersmell/taste that reminds me of vaseline because this product is really just that, vasoline, sorry. Try Weleda rose products for a real rose experience.

This tube (or tin if you prefer) is by far the BEST lip balm I have ever used. I have very dry lips and when I use it at night, by morning they are plump and healed. When I use it during the day, as I should, I NEVER have chapped or dry lips. I also use it on my cuticles and minor cuts and scapes. It is a miracle--oh, and the tube has an angled tip for easy lip application.

If there is color, it's VERY sheer/subtle. It probably depends on the natural color of your lips - mine are close to the color of the product.

The strawberry balm has more of a pink tone to it in my opinion, while the minted rose (my fave!) has a bit more of a red pop. All VERY subtle, though.

Hope that helps!
