Tarte LipSurgence™ Matte Lip Tint

What it is:A follow up to the bestselling LipSurgence(TM) Lip Tint, this matte formula delivers the same clinically proven moisturizing results. What it does:Just like the original and bestselling Natural Lip Stains, LipSurgence(TM) Natural Matte Lip Stains are peppermint-infused and glide on smooth for a rich matte finish that will stay all day. Earth engineered from a proprietary blend of plant bio-nutrients, the LipSurgence(TM) technology quickly absorbs into the skin to deliver a surge of moisture on a cellular level, while boosting peptides to stimulate skin's own regenerative system and assist in the formation of collagen. This proprietary blend effectively increases skin's water content for a plumped up appearance. The result is naturally fuller, healthier lips without any irritation or stinging. What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens- Sulfates- Synthetic Fragrance- Synthetic Dyes- Petrochemicals- PhthalatesWhat else you need to know:LipSurgence(TM) Natural Matte Lip Stain contains Skinvigorating(TM) ingredients like LipSurgence(TM) technology, which is clinically proven to increase moisture content by an astonishing 6000% after 28 days, vitamins A & E, which are anti-inflammatory emollients that protect against free radical damage, carnauba wax to ensure a smooth application, coconut extract that has known microbial and moisturizing properties, and peppermint oil to cool and soothe inflamed or irritated skin while freshening breath.Research Results:LipSurgence(TM) Clinical Results: 6000% increase in lips' moisture content after 28 days

Question
fiery red-cool or warm?
Is the fiery red shade a cool or warm tone? It is difficult to tell by the swatch.

It's a natural red lip tint. Not firery. If you want a deeper red apply more. If you want a more natural look, apply sparingly and then blot off excess. The stain will remain on your lips

Cool. I can't wear orange-y reds and this definitely is a cooler shade that looks very flattering on folks who need the blue undertones in their red makeup.

Definitely not fire red. Much warmer, more berry-toned.

It is a cool red, w/blue base. Not orange red. Very good if your teeth are not the whitest. I would say, it is a true red with raspberry undertones.

I'd describe it as cool. I generally need cool reds, as my skin has blue / pink undertone. The Fiery is the best matte red I've found. There's nothing orangey about the color.

On me it's a very true red, more like a pin-up red. Not much on the orangey side. It has a beautiful matte finish, and lasts a long time.

I have Fair/Light skin (and often end up with redness on my face) and I LOVE the HOPE color. It gives a nice natural color to my lips that brightens my face (and doesn't make accentuate redness on my cheeks if it is happening that day)

I would also suggest the tarte "24.7 Natural Lip Sheer SPF 15 ". They are $16, have great color payoff, work well for every day, and would probably work nicely with fair skin tones (since they are not particularly overpowering).

answer 5
It depends on your skin tone. I know you are fair. Are you a cool fair? Or a warm fair? Neutral? If you have a neutral tone, you can use any of them. If you are warm, you can do hope. Hope is described as being a warm shade. I am very fair with pink or cool undertones and hope looked terrible on me. If you are a cool fair, try the bright pink option. I know it looks scary, but it works on cool fair skin. If you have yellow undertones and are fair, go with hope. If nudes do not wash you out, exposed is nice. If you cannot do a nude (I get washed out), then avoid exposed too. Envy is a color I would normally gravitate to, as it has mauve in the name but it also has berry and it is a bit bold. If you like a bold lip, envy is good. It was hard for me to imagine a mauve berry. I think it is more of a rose mixed with berry and a tiny hint of coral. I do not think it is mauve at all.

I have hazel eyes and fairly pale skin, and I use Hope. It is natural looking, yet totally brightens the lips up. Yes, it looks like you added color, but it's not too much, in my opinion.

Tarte has a lip product called 24/7, which is long lasting and moist-feeling. Link is here: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P38469&categoryId=B70 .

Champagne Brunch is very natural looking, but there may be others shown on the above link that you may like as well.

Question
Did this dry anyone's lips out?
I fot the Fiery shade, and it's the first time I've ever actually found a red shade that looks red on my skintone. I loved it. I noticed a bit of a tingle when I put it on, but I figured it was just a plumping ingredient or something. By the end of the day, my lips were chapped and flaky. Am I the only one this happened to?

I have been wearing Firey everyday now and i haven't experienced any drying. I think your problem might lie in the lack of moisture in your lips before you apply the LipSurgence. Make sure your lips are properly moisturized before you apply. I suggest Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment every morning before application and night before bed. If you apply a balm and allow it to be absorbed before you apply your LipSurgence you will lock in your moisture with the color. Be very careful applying gloss or balm over the top of your LipSurgence, blot well if you do. If you do not blot it will end up all over your teeth.

This did not happen to me. I had worried that the product would be drying, given how matte the texture is. It does not look moist on! But I've worn two different shades of the tint -- often for 10 hour days and with only two applications per day --and not had any chopping.

I can't say for sure, but it really sounds like you had an allergic reaction to the product :( This product is supposed to be moisturizing and for me it was wonderful; it lasted all day and felt like there was nothing on my lips (but they stayed soft and moisturized all day).
Sorry hun, but better luck finding the right red for you!!

These are a little drying without a little balm underneath. I usually put some one, then wait a few minutes before color application. For some reason, the other LipSurgence colors (the sheer, shiny ones) over my matte lip stains don't affect the length that this stuff stays, so I really love that. I have Exposed(nude) and Glisten(sheer/shimmer).

Charmed is from the natural lip tint line which has a semi-matte, satin finish it is also semi-sheer. Lucky is from the matte lip tint line which is a totally matte finish. Matte lip tints are opaque

answer 2
Lucky is a matte color with little or no shimmer while Charmed has a glossier finish with shimmer. It just depends on your preference, some people don't like matte- I love it, but in a lighter color like this it may have a tendency to look dry if your lips aren't exfoliated.

Question
Is there supposed to be a white film?
I recently bought Lucky, and I love it. However, there's a whitish film or coating on it. It doesn't affect the color output, but I notice it's a little drying compared to my other Tarte matte lip tints...it's kind of similar to when old chocolate blooms. Is this normal?

yes, it does stain fairly well, but perhaps not quite as much as a liquid stain. The color will last all day for me if I drink out of a straw, but I notice it usually needs re-applied after eating.

I hate lipsticks, they get everywhere and don't look natural. This is an actual stain. Apply a small amount, wait a little then blot off. Your lips will be stained without the excess on them.

I'm not 100% sure if it is in fact gluten-free, however, none of the promotion for it says it is. tarte will usually add "gluten-free" on their descriptions, so for this to not specify may indicate that the product is not gluten-free.
