Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer

What it is: A professional balm that minimizes the appearance of pores. What it does: Quickly minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines and help makeup stay put with this priming phenomenon. The silky and lightweight formula can be worn under makeup to create a smoother-than-smooth canvas or used throughout the day to mattify shine and touch up problem areas. It’s so translucent, no one will know you’re wearing anything! What else you need to know: The oil-free formula contains vitamin E, which is known to protect skin from free radicals.

I recommend this. It is not as gooey, and it minimizes better. When I used smashbox, my makeup slid off, but POREfessional doesn't do that. It stays on all day.

I use both! :) I love Smashbox for an all over coverage, but in places where my pores seem more visible (my nose, in between my eye brows, and my chin) I use porefessional. Both products are great and are even better when used together.

I do not love primers but I definitely prefer this to Smashbox products. It is hard to describe but Smashbox primer sort of pills on my face. The primer plus my foundation roll off in little balls if I touch my face at all during the day.

The primer you need depends on the makeup you want to put over it. If you're using a sticky, fast-drying makeup like Smashbox Studio Skin, the slick Smashbox primer is best. The sticky makeup slides on nicely over the super-slick Smashbox primers. If, however, you're using a slick makeup like MUFE HD or Nars Sheer Glow, the Benefit Porefessional would be better. It helps the slick foundation adhere to the skin. It won't streak and leave thin spots with Porefessional primer. I find that I get better coverage with this primer.

Although both uses Dimethicone, the Pore-fessional does not feel like it's blocking my pores. The smashbox feels much thicker and my skin can not breathe. I have normal/combo skin and i do not have to reapply during the day.

There's no such thing as removing your pores. If you mean reduce pore size, then no it doesn't reduce the size of your pores. Instead it helps make them "appear" smaller in size which allows makeup to look more flawless and less cakey. If you need help with pore size, try using a serum in your skincare routine.

I have really bad acne scarred and prone skin. I break out easily and match it with my huge pores, oh vey. I have tried every single primer for my face and nothing compares to this. Love it Love it Love It. It fills in my pores nicely and feels light. I haven't had any breakout from this but remember, even the most sensitive makeup can cause you to break out if you leave it on or sleep with it (guilty). Us girls with bad skin really have to look into our cleansing routine.

Its best used after moisturizer and before foundation but throughout the day if you need a touch up, you can dab some on and more touch up foundation. Or you can just wear it by itself if the tint matches your skin tone. Hope this helps!

Believe everyone has answered your question. I love the product. Did see a difference in diffusing pores. I wore it one day and when I took my makeup off that same night I noticed a couple red bumps on the areas where I applied the product. I only applied it where my pores were most visible. So unfortunate. I have combination skin with oily T zone. I do have sensitive skin. This product did not agree with me.

It's VERY lightly tinted... not enough to even really call it "tinted". I use it like a primer, so I use it under foundation. However if you don't normally use a foundation, you could absolutely use it alone. It will make your skin appear smoother, with smaller pores, and more matte. Hope this helps.

This product has a very tiny amount of tint. It really doesn't impact the product much. It is designed to be worn under your foundation. It does really improve the look of your skin, however, even without foundation. It substantially reduces the look of pores and even hides mild to moderate acne scars. It just fills these areas in and is not a foundation or heavy product whatsoever. It is weightless. I have oily skin and I would say that it helps control the oil. I don't think it impacts breakouts one way or the other.

It comes out looking tinted but it doesnt really deposit much color once blended in so its best to use with a foundation. It works for my oily skin by taking away the shine and creating a more matte finish. I use it under my make up (and over my primer as i only use a tiny bit of this on my t zone as opposed to my whole face). It can also be worn over make up if you neet to re touch. It really does make the skin more flawless by reducing the pores/

It's translucent, but it may or may not show up on darker skin tones. I have a medium skin tone, and it disappears really well into the skin. Of course moisturize your skin lightly before putting it on or give your face a good scrub for a nice even skin application. Flaky skin outline may be seen if you look up close, depending on how well you cleaned your skin.

For the break outs, I hear ya, 'cause I was worried about that but for me it didn't irritate my skin. As for foundation, it can be used under and over by the product box, I haven't used it with foundation yet as it does a fair job and minimizing shine thus the minimizing of pore appearance.

Hope that helps.

The texture of the product is very silky; not wet, so you really do not have to wait for it to dry before applying foundation. If applying a light moisturizer, I would think you could apply this product immediately after, however if it is a heavy, or creamy mositurizer, I might wait long enough for it to soak into your skin before applying the product.

I find that it works GREAT for my dry skin. Every part of my face flakes in the winter, but especially my nose. This is a good way to cover up the flaking because it goes on like a thicker layer to smooth everything out. It can occasionally clog my the pores on my nose, so I don't use it every day, but it's really great for evenings out and events. It isn't drying, and it creates a kind of protective barrier for my skin in the winter, keeping my moisture in.

I way prefer the Tarte primers to this Benefit one. Clean-Slate has a similar consistency to POREfessional, but as far as I'm concerned, all of the Tarte primers do a much better job of acting as a brightener, pore-minimizer, and a product which mattifys the skin.

Hi! I do not believe POREfessional is to be used as a primer--it is to be used as a spot treatment for concealing large pores--it does not claim to reduce SIZE, but CONCEAL. So, you'd be compairing apples to oranges. I have tried POREfessional over my makeup and under my makeup and It works better for me OVER my foundation. It leaves a matte finish and it light enough that it doesnt add weight to your makeup. My favorite foundation primer (if that's what you're looking for) is Smashbox Photo Finish

I'd say it's better! The Tarte is great, but it's clear, while thing one has a very slight tint to it that gives it a bit of a boost. Either are good products, though! Also, this is just my opinion!

More viscosity. It applies smooth, almost like a lightweight oil/cream but not greasy. No 'tack' to it which is good for a primer.
