Aloe vera gel mixed with baking soda, mixed to the consistency of the gel is perfect.

answer 2
Its not a good idea to use another exfoliator instead of the DDF crystals because the DDF formula uses sodium bicarbonate crystals because they dissolve once your skin has had enough exfoliation. Using another exfoliator will put you at risk for over-exfoliating your face and causing irritation.

answer 3
the crystals they provide contains self heating sodium bicarbonate - aka baking soda. the polishing head is most effective when used with this formula. it would be a good idea to stick with the ddf polishing crystals. plus when you run out of crystals, that means you have to replace the heads so sephora sells replacement heads along with the crystals for $50. however, before the replacement kit was available, the DDF rep suggested their advanced micro-exfoliation cleanser as a temp replacement until the replacement kit became available. therefore, i would imagine that if you do use it with another scrub it probably wouldnt be terrible, however make sure you choose a scrub with the word "microdermabrasion" in it. that means that the polishing beads will be perfectly spherical and minimize the risk of irritation. =)

Well, of course the instructions say to use only with the DDF product, but I have used it with another micro-derm product and it was great. The danger with any of those crystals would be using it with the mechanical device too long or with too much pressure. I love mine and highly recommend it!

I don't think that is a good idea. The machine is designed for the crystals and vice versa. They are meant to work together and you won't get the same results with a different scrub. Plus, the grit in this scrub is extremely fine and perfectly evenly shaped. If you use a larger grit or uneven grit, you will damage your skin (tiny lacerations in the skin). Stick with the included crystals.

Question
Clarisonic didn't work, will this help?
I tried the Clarisonic for about 4 months and it actually made my adult acne worse (I kept breaking out)! I'm wondering if I try this, will it have the same effect? Does anyone else struggle with adult acne that has tried this with success? Thanks everyone!

I tried the clarisonic twice a day for a month straight and it literally did nothing for me. I returned it and bought this and I noticed a big difference right away. Clarisonic is more for deep cleaning but if you already clean your face properly you probably won't notice much of a difference after using it. This is an exfoliater so it will literally take off dead skin and make more of a difference.

This works wonders for acne scarring. I had some on each cheek under the cheekbones and 2x a week with DDF has made a huge difference. Clarisonic (I have the Mia) is good for deep cleansing but will not exfoliate as well. The 'crystals' that come w/ DDF are gentle but very effective. I recommend the DDF Revolve if you want as close to a pro micro as you can get without the cost

I have HORRIBLE acne, and yes, this helped. But to be fair, I use it as part of my skincare system and not the only thing. What this helps with is taking off that top layer of crud that is part of blocked pores. But at a certain age, acne is more about hormones and what we are putting in our bodies than the dead skin that is just laying on our bodies. My advice from one acne gal to another would be to use this a couple times a week, but every day use a good glycolic acid based cleanser and don't let anyone take the Benzoyl Peroxide out of your hands. BPO at night and Salicylic Acid during the day...and DO NOT forget the sunscreen.

I haven't tried the Clairsonic, but with this one I've noticed a very positive change in my skin. I've always really liked DDF products, so I figured I'd give this a try. I usually wash my face with either the Amore Pacific facial cleanser or Clean & Clear Advantage 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser. The Amore Pacific is more mild, but the Clean & Clear cleanser has benzoyl peroxide in it, and I've noticed that works better with my acne.

I had some minor break outs the first time I used this product, but I think they were just the result of my skin being cleaned from inside out. I am very pleased with the smooth clean look of my skin with continued use of both the deep cleaning and microdermabrasion tools.

I had the same question, and figured out that if you only use 1 tsp a week for two sessions with the crystals, that the 2 oz should yield 12 tsp, enough for 24 uses. The 2 oz would be gone in 3 months, and I can't see that DDF sells the polishing crystals separately, so what do you do then? I think I'll wait until I know I can replace the crystals.

I suffered from cystic acne and rosacia. What a combo! Basically what I love about this system, and probably the clairsonic product as well, is that it really helps minimize the appearance of pores. And it also helped with the red splotches that starting showing up out of no where. My skin tone just looked better.

I don't believe Sephora sells replacement kits. I wish they did. You can purchase refills elsewhere. I don't think Sephora would allow me to tell you where, but Google it. Sephora still has the best insider program, so get the primary system there with confidence that refills are available.

The Clarisonic oscillates back in forth and works with your skin's elasticity to deep clean and remove makeup (For those of you who own a Clarisonic, you can shine a flashlight on it to see the bristles move back and forth). All of the different systems have either a charging dock or outlet. The only Clarisonic that you use with an actual physical exfoliating cleanser is the Clarisonic Plus system, which is recommended for the body.

The Revolve 400X is intended to give you the results of having an actual microdermabrasion from a dermatologist office for a fraction of the cost. The Revolve 400X brush head rotates continuously and is battery powered. Of course, depending on the skin type, the polishing crystals are only used at night with the sponge tip applicator 2-3 times a week. Use with your favorite (non-abrasive) cleanser the rest of the time and use a sunscreen during the day.

It is about $100 less expensive and it is smaller. OTher than that - I don't see the difference. The Clarisonic might be better if you want something larger for your whole body

This product has attachments that rotate in a continuous circular motion and is used with the Polishing Crystals. It is the rotating exfoliating pads working with the Polishing Crystals that gives the "microderm" results. The Clairsonic brush head quickly rotates back and forth (more like a vibrating result) to help clean your skin.

I think that the Clairsonic brush is great for when you are just cleansing your face because it helps get your skin much cleaner than just using your hands, but the DDF Micro-Polishing System works wonders if you need to smooth out the texture of your skin. It's even better than a scrub.

So... the Clairsonic is great for just cleaning your skin and helping to remove makeup, but the DDF goes further and cleans and smooths your skin after removing makeup.

Question
Is this good for sensitive skin?
I have really sensitive skin and am afraid this will be too rough for my skin. I want to get it cause i don't feel like my scrubs do anything to help my dry patches and i also have bumps all over my face like it isn't getting clean enough. Will this work for me? I don't want it to harm my skin.

Yes! The Brush can be used with any cleanser and the sponge tip is for the crystals, you dont have to use the crystals, however it may be ok to use once every two weeks as an exfoliating treatment, try it on the top of your hand.

The spa where I used to get microderms (before they made them too expensive) would probably use me as their poster child for sensitive skin. The chemical peel left a burn down the entire left side of my face (it was the last one of those for me!)! Anyway, I use the cleaning brush once a day and microderm crystals twice a week. I have no problems whatsoever. Remember, you can always try it, and if it is too harsh for you return it. :)

Absolutely. These are two completely different products. You can try the brush head attachement on this device and see how it compares to your Clarisonic, but the device is really meant to be a micropolishing system -- not a cleansing system. The brush is just extra. You can continue to use your Clarisonic daily (if that's what you normally do), and use the foam head and crystals once or twice a week.
