Can I use a heat lamp with these like normal minx?
When I have used minx in the past I heat them with a heat lamp to apply. Can I use these the same way?

with these you don't necessarily need a heat lamp, they really only require the heat from your hands to heat them up. but i did use a lamp briefly just to ensure that they stuck to my nails :)

yes, you can also apply a layer of acrylic or gel over to create a long lasting, floating effect to nails.

It most likely wouldn't hurt. I used a blowdryer to apply mine and got fab results.

I haven't been to Minx in the NYC, but I find that using a blowdryer can help. I use it on the decal prior to application, then on the nail itself once the decal has been placed. I've tried three different patterns, and for the last two I used the blowdryer technique - I found that the decals lasted longer than my initial go. But a lot depends on how well you take care of your nails w/prints on =)

I'm not completely sure, but since it's more a UV lamp, it's probably safe if you don't get your nails too close. Guess I'll know more after my daughter tries hers. She makes jewelry under those lights and they take 20 min. to cure so it's probably not too bad hot.

Having been through the Minx process, I knew that they are normally heated with a heat lamp. I put on the first nail after just rubbing it but heated the second finger near a regular light bulb. It was noticeably more flexible and I didn't have bubble issues. Since I'm not sure these were made to stand up to high heat, I'd probably stick to a regular bulb just in case they weren't made to stand up to the heat of a serious heat lamp.

I think you can. I heated mine up by resting them over a table lamp with an incandescent bulb, and they softened up very nicely.

Would top coat make this last longer?
I usually use Seche Vite, the holy grail of top coats. Would it extend the life of these nail stickers? I want to buy them, but at the same time, they're $15 for one set...

i wondered the same thing. and i tried it out.. the prints stayed shiny and intact for about 4 days w/o the top coat.. i only applied top coat because i wanted to see if they would help them stick longer..after i applied it i didn't really notice much of a difference it helped for maybe a day or so.. so in my opinion it doesn't really matter..

i used Creative Nail brand's Super Shiny Top Coat, and they lasted three weeks, and looked really good as a french. as needed for lifting on sides of nail, touch up with a little extra top coat.

The second day I had these on they were starting to peel so I figured a top coat would help seal them in, but it didn't do much to keep them on. They're very pretty but they don't last long at all.

I tried the top coat trick -- in my case, it just exacerbated the air bubbles, but if you can get a SUPER smooth application, it should work well. :)

I tried using a topcoat on my first set, since the tips were peeling, but to no avail. I figure that if you can get the decal to adhere to the nail as much as possible when you first apply it, then it lasts longer (the latest one I tried lasted about 5 days, and I'm pretty reckless w/my nails, lol).

You dont need a top coat, in fact I put mine on (a really good glossy thick coat) and it ended up peeling off the next day. However it didnt damage or hurt the nail sticker. Which just goes to show it didnt need one in the first place.

You should not apply a top coat over it in my opinion. This is not a polish and the reason that they do not stay on long is because the edges will come up at some point.

yes you can!! :) they work on all types of nails..when you're ready to take them off all you do is peel them away !! and there is no damage done to your gel or natural nail..
you may have some adhesive left over but you can just rub it off..simple lol

Yes you can put this over gel nails just as you can with regualr Minx. Just ensure that you clean you nails off with rubbing alcohol and allow to dry.

Yes, nails must be clean of polish and oils. Wash nails and and clean with polish remover, or alcohol, before applying.

These have to be used on bare nails, I'd recommend you lightly buff them and use nail polish remover to get rid of excess oil so that you will get a good stick. Mine lasted about a week, even in the pool and jacuzzi.

Nails must be clean and free of all polish and any lotions. Use alcohol pads to clean nails prior to application and nails must be completely dry.

Yes they do. In the instructions that come with the patches it says that you have to start out with bare nails and clean the surface with alcohol to remove any oils.

the nail should be free from any oil before applying so they strongly suggest using alchold to clean before applying. i have heard that you can use them over nail polish (but kind of would defeat the purpose since these cover your nail completely; i dont think the polish would show through) once the nail polish is dry, i would clean the nail surface with alcohol and then apply the design. i'm also not sure how the polish will affect longetivity of the minx application, but i know it can be done.

File your nails, lightly buff them, use nail polish remover to remove excess oils, let nails dry and then cut the strip and keep smoothing them and pressing them, you can use a nail clipper or grooming scissors to cut them, I did it fine by myself but it may be easy with a littler help.

The way I put these on was first i cleaned my nails off completely from any nail polish residue. Then according to the directions on the package took rubbing alcohol to each nail before I applied the prints. Also if the fit for my nail was a bit off i used scissors to trim the rounded part to fit my nail!

warm the strip in your hand pre-application by pressing it btwn your palms and moving your hands slightly. then put the sticker on your nail, cut the excess sticker off as close as you can to your nail and use a nail filer (I just used a regular file, didn't buy a glass or stone file) vertically (as in, hold the file perpendicular to your nail.) As a right-handed girl, I did my left hand fairly easily but the right was hard. Having a friend cut the excess sticker on my right hand was SO much easier and made for a much better looking application than when I tried to do it with my left hand.

*Make sure you clean your nails first with alcohol wipes to remove any oils that might be on the nails.
*Make sure you heat the patch up really well, so the adhesive sticks to the nail. even after i put them on i like to put my fingers under a heat lamp or blow dryer and then smooth them out again just to make sure they stay on
* lastly after a few days you may see the edges start to peel away from the edge of your nail. no big deal 1)when you put them on make sure you file straight down, not at an angle and 2) if it still happens grab a crystal file and file it down again. it will look brand new :)

Personally, I would not use them on children. Those that I have heard who have used them have said they come off quickly, within a day or two, so with the active hands of children, I think there might be too much stress on these to stay on.

Not sure if they will fit on children's nails because of the width. Short nails should be ok, you would just have enough nail to file or cut the sticker to conform to your nail.

I believe these are very similar to the Incoco brand. If they are, they might be too small for children. They can work on short nails as long as you have a little bit of nail bed over your fingertip to "wrap" the patch over when filing the tips off. I would recommend using nail scissors, too, for a cleaner trim.

These stickers won't hurt your nails, but why not try a shellac manicure instead? Same effect as gel nails but no damage.

I wouldn't recommend these if you are trying to strengthen your nails. Because they are not removable with nail polish, you have to pull them off your nails when you want to take them off, so it actually weakens the nail because it strips a little of the nail off. My nails actually started peeling at the tips (which they have never done before) after I took these off. If you are trying to strengthen your nails, don't use these!

I think that this is a perfect product for this! They don't dry out your nails like regular nail polish. I have nails that "peel" so I know all about thin nails. I just took a pair of these off last night and was amazed at the growth of my nails!
