Question
Issues with Low level of Suction?
Has anyone had issues with their Nubrilliance losing suction power/ know any tips to fix that? When I first got it this had Much stronger suction but halfway through my first time using it, it seems to have lost suction really badly. I have to crank it up to level 5 in order to feel minimal suction which I know isn't right because at first it was much better.

One thing that hasnt been mentioned yet is that there is a small plastic ring on the wand where the tip attaches. This rubber ring is what seals the suction and falls off easily when changing tips, so if you are having suction problems, check to make sure the ring is still attached!

You need to make sure that the tip is making FULL contact with your skin. Also you need to ensure that your holding the wand perpendicular to the surface of your skin.

I thought I was having problems with low suction until I just changed the way I was holding the wand.

When I first bought mine 2/26/11 I thought the suction was not as strong as they warned in the video, so I was bumping it up to 3-5 notches before the first week was out. I never did have any suction with the small tip. After I had it a little over 2 weeks, it just stopped sucking at all. I even took the head off and set it on 5 and all it was doing was blowing air out. I took it in and exchanged it, and the new machine sucks so strong I never use it above level 1, and I can even do my whole face with the small tip. There is definitely a problem with a few defective machines out there, so if you are not getting serious suction you should take it in for an exchange immediately. Sephora is VERY accommodating with returns and exchanges.

It seems a bit silly to answer my own question, but I found a good solution (in reviews here actually) and after trying it with success I thought I'd post here in case anyone else has the same problem. Someone reviewing this mentioned that they tried letting the machine Warm Up (plugged in and ON) for about 5 minutes before using.

I tried this and it did make a Big difference in the amount of suction coming from the machine. Thanks to the person who posted that!

I dont really know either.. I've noticed that too but I assumed the tip needed changing, which is disappointing because I'm having to change the tips more often than stated and they're not exactly cheap to have to keep replacing... I think that may be more of the issue, at least my issue with the suction on my machine.

I had the same problem, then I looked closely at the tip and found a small crack in the plastic. It was not making a good seal because of this tiny crack. They would not send me a replacement tip, so I had to send the entire set back and I'm waiting for the replacement.

Nubrillance infomercial comes with a 3rd smaller tip. Is Sephora aware and working on getting the smaller tip?
The NuBrillance infomercial I saw comes with 3 diamond tips, a 3rd smaller tip. Saw this is major complaint on most reviews. Is Sephora working on getting this smaller tip? When can we expect this smaller tip in 3 months, 6 months, ...

I was concerned about the smaller tip too. I have yet to order this from Sephora (waiting for tax refund :D) and do not know if the small tip is included in the system. However, I did notice that they do sell the small tip with replacement filters at www.shopNBC.com. I would rather buy the system from Sephora, and then order the fine tip online, as opposed to ordering the whole system from the infomercial. At least you get rewards and the warranty/return policy from Sephora. Hopefully Sephora will start selling the small tip replacement soon.

Question
Worth the money?
I have never had a microbrasion in my life and use glycolic acid in my moisturizer. I have a few very fine lines across my forehead. I am wondering if this is worth the investment? I get compliments on my skin a lot but I'm concerned with preventative measures so I don't have to go take drastic measures in the future. I have seen a similiar product for less on another site, but Sephora has a great return policy if it isn't right for me. I also just got a blue and red light system and haven't tried it yet.

Yes, without a doubt. I have had professional microdermabrasion treatments in the past and I was equally pleased with the results from the NuBrilliance. The first time I used it, I thought it had weak suction, but I quickly realized that I didn't have a good seal. As soon as I got the hang of using it, I found the suction to be quite strong. By my second treatment, I had the knack of it so it doesn't take long to learn how to use if effectively.

I have purchased expensive gadgets before, and have been quite happy with the results (ghd, Clairsonic, Temptu), but NOTHING compares to the value of this investment. Just imagine the cost of having professional microdermabrasion 2 - 3 times a week! That would get quite expensive in a hurry. And as nice as the Clairsonic is (and I still use it a few times a week), if I had to pick only one, it would be no contest. The NuBrilliance would win hands down.

Yes!!!

I am 34 (35 in a few months) and don't have many wrinkles (if any at all) and I use this. I do have very large pores, clogged pores, and oily skin, though. And this helps considerably with that.

I have a red- and blue-light device (ANSR) and I prefer this to the red light. I think proper exfoliation is paramount in keeping skin looking good and feeling healthy.

ps - if you do buy this, do the microdermabrasion first and then the blue- and red-lights.

Does your aesthetician microderm that area?
If you've never gotten one from your aesthetician, go on online and watch a microdermabrasion video.
For the simple fact that the word "abrasion" is on the description of this machine/treatment, I would avoid eye area (where one would get dark circles) just as I would eyelids.
PS- The Nu Brillance machine comes with an instructional CD. It is there for a reason, so don't be lazy (It's your face!!!) Watch it!!!!!!!

Question
Has anybody combined this regimen with other scrubs or peels?
Like with Philosophy's Miracle pads or Kate Sommerville's scrub? Is it too strong to use if you are doing the other peels? I love to exfoliate and want to get the maximum results from the products I already have.

Yeah I use it in conjunction with my other treatments. I use philosophy Microdelivery Peel, the Oxygen Peel (which I just bought yesterday and LOVE!), the DDF polisher and crystals. I use the NuBrilliance twice per week because I am addicted to it and everything else just once a week. I just make sure not to do two things on the same day. I have had a chemical peel before and have pretty tough skin, but if you feel it is too much, slowly add in additional products week by week. But I personally don’t have a problem because each product really does something different.

I've used many products from Sephora that mimic salon care. Everything from peels to microderm 'scrubs', as well as salon visits, where the tech did a peel, mirroderm and laser treatment. My skin looks great for my age, and it doesn't hurt to combo if you think your skin will tolerate it. But remember, it took years to get that way, and it's going to take years to remove certain things, plus age gracefully.

Personally, I avoid my chicken pox scar (big one on my forehead, near hairline) because the skin looks so thin already...
Besides, I am terrified by the thought of it getting worse.
I know I am the only one to know of its existence, so I try to accept it...
Now, if your scar is thick, check with your doctor to see if it's a case of keloid (which means you certainly don't want to increase collagen production on it) or if it is simply a hypertrophic scar. S/he'll determine what is best to do...

Not likely. You will have to see a dermatologist for deeper scars. This is equivalent to a good facial from the salon. You may get rid of small lines, wrinkles, and blemishes over time but not right away.

Sephora or the product website.
I gently rinse my filter (gunk facing the drain, gentle water stream on the "clean" side), then wash it gently with a face soap and hang it to dry.
Also, I use a toothbrush with face soap to gently brush the diamond head.
It makes them last a lot longer without compromising performance....
