I found that even though the brush came out pretty far, it was still hard to get the color out and just today was about to clean it and it broke completely.

The brush on this particular retractible one comes out of the tube pretty far, and cleaning it isn't an issue. & It stays clean, even though it floats around in a zippered pocket in my handbag!

This is a lip brush. I usually spray it with a liltle alcohol cleanser and use the back of my (clean) hand to move it around a little. Blot it on a paper towel and I am good to go. Its all of15 seconds

I would invest in a quality brush cleaner for this brush because it is more expensive. I have this brush myself and it is worth the cleansings! best of luck!

I haven't tried to clean it yet but I use a tissue as a method to clean it. I would ask the Sephora staff that question.

If you pull up to open the brush, and then pull the brush part, it'll come out of the retractable part. You can then clean it like a normal brush, then click it back in place.

The brush pops up easily from within to clean and is supposed to retract and close so as to stay clean.

Nope, the brush doesnt really touch the container it retracts into, so you can just clean the brush portion as you normally would.
