Question
Is this product PABA free
My 2.5 year old sun has had a reaction to three different sunscreens-but on his face only. He gets red blotchy spots that almost look like insect bites, but quarter sized. His arms, chest and legs are fine, but his face looks horrible. When I wash the lotion off of his face, the redness goes away almost instantly. I don't mind spending more to protect him, but I want to make sure it's worth it. Thanks.

My 19 month-old reacted in exactly this way to this sunblock- I never considered it might be the PABA, it seemed so pure according to the description. She had a red rash on her cheeks, nose, and back of her neck that looked horrible for 2 days. We have had better luck with the California Baby organic sunblock. Good Luck!

Yes, I was wondering the same thing too because I have extremely sensitive skin with rosacea that is dry, but with breakouts as well, and wanted to know if the baby one was even better for sensitive skin. The regular LaVanilla face block was ok, but if I used it too often (twice a day), my rosacea would flare. I tested this many, many times with no other changes to my skin care, and it always happened. I do think the regular block is great for sensitive skin, but for me, I can only use it once a day and cannot reapply before walking out of the office for lunch.

As the ingredients do appear to be pretty much the same, the only other thing I would take into consideration would be that the baby block is cheaper per ounce. I might give it a try just because of that.

Can adults use this formula (on their face) in place of LAVANILA'S other Healthy SPF 40 Sunscreen/Face Cream? I think I might like this one better....

Good question - I was wondering that myself. I have yet to try this but I think adults can use it too. If you click on the picture of the product and zoom in on it, it says on the bottom of it "for babies, kids & sensitive adults." So with that I am assuming it's not only for babies.

Both this and the other same face cream actually have the exact same ingredients, only some in different order, but with this you get more product for your money - you only pay $20 for 2 oz. while with the other one it's 1.8 oz. for $28.

It's pricey, so I use another good quality one on the rest of my body.

Being that the ingredients are pretty much identical in the baby block and the face spf 40, I would have to say yes. I wear sunscreen right up to my eyeball and always do a test to see if I can put it in my eye without pain (strange, I know)- and this is one just great! Don't even know it's there!

Question
Does Lavanilla make a sunscreen for the body?
Can the baby block be used on adults for all over the body? I'm looking for a paraben-free sunscreen for the body - looks like they just have one for adults for the face.

It can be used all over the body...it doesnt say anywhere on the package that it is only a face product but I wouldnt recommend it because it is only 2 oz and really expensive. My family and I use it only on the face and it has lasted only 3 days on the lake.

According to the description for the Lavanila SPF 40 for face (and these 2 sunscreens are the same thing)- it says no nano particles. That's what you really want to look for. There is a difference between micronized and nano. Granted, I am not a professional, but I have done my fair share of research on sunscreens not only for my son, but for myself as well. Micronized particles are larger- they are going to help make the sunscreen not as white, but they also shouldn't be absorbed by the skin, either. They sit on top of the skin. I have the face tube (and am going to get this as well)- and I love it. It's almost "grainy"- but NOT in a bad way- which most likely means these are "larger" sunscreen particles- which are safer. Hope this makes sense.

Question
Is this product non-comedogenic?
The description for Lavanila's "The Healthy Sun Screen SPF 40 Face Cream" says that it is non-comedogenic, and I am wondering if it is the same for this product.

(Background: I have super sensitive, acne-prone skin that has reacted very badly with other natural sunscreens. I am pretty oily in the summer and fairly dry in the winter. I'd like to wear this sunscreen on a daily basis, as I walk to/from work everyday. Thanks!)
