I use Josie Maran's moisturizer (Argan Oil) before and then the sunblock but not always. Sometimes when I'm running late, I just use the sunblock because it offers the Argan Oil.

P.S. I just did some research. Apparently, there is no standard and official rating scale for UVA protection (like SPF for UVB). The FDA was working on one a while back, but government agencies can be slow in implementing industry change. Just take comfort in the fact that this product uses some of the highest quality sun blocking ingredients current technology can provide. Both of the compounds are physical blockers (they sit on top of your skin and don't soak in, therefore should cause much less irritation/harm than some other forms of sun block) and don't degrade in sun light (like other chemicals).

answer 2
It doesn't say specify, however, I'd like to think it blocks a fair amount since it contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as its active sun-blocking ingredients. The former blocks UVA rays, except the long wave form. The latter will block block most, nearly all, UVA rays. Zinc oxide provides some of the most comprehensive coverage currently available when it comes to broad spectrum protection.

SPF doesn't work like that. Anything over SPF 40 is essentially deceptive, making you think you're getting more sun protection when in fact all you're getting is a higher dose of the chemicals. For most people on any normal SPF contained in this product is more than enough, but if you're in the sun for long periods of time the best way to protect yourself is to reapply.

Just read somewhere that the first product you put on is the one that does the heavy lifting and there is not a cumulative effect in adding more products with sunscreen. In fact, sometimes depending on the formula, you might diminish the effectiveness of the first product.

Question
Compared to regular Argan Oil?
How does the spf product compare to the normal argan oil? Would it make sense to use spf argan oil in the mornings as a moisturizer/spf/faceprimer, and use regular argan oil at night as a moisturizer?

Also, is it safe to mix Josie Maran products with other brands, like Murad?

This SPF is a white sunscreen SPF40+ that is a nice creamy texture with Argan oil in the product. The Argan oil is pure Argan oil (totally different product). I use this first in the morning on my face, neck, etc (3-5 pumps), then apply day cream and eye cream, then primer, and then the other "stuff" like make up. I do not use Argan oil in the day routine (I add the Argan oil right to my face at night, and also use a cream for hydration as if you only use the oil, your wrinkles show )):

I've used both the oil and SPF moisturizer. I've got to have the SPF so this is my daytime go-to moisturizer and I honestly do like it just as well as the oil. I don't know how this jives w/ Murad, but again...I only use this product during the day w/ nothing else. I use a heavy Shisheido brand moisturzing cream at night.

I've never put this on my hair, and I don't think I would. It would be tough to distribute through hair. Also, it's too expensive to be putting anywhere else in my opinion. There are other oils for hair and other types of hand lotions with spf.

Why? It is more of a white cream with SPF and Argan Oil. You can get Argan Oil (cheap) good quality on EBAY for a fraction of the cost to use on your split ends and nails. You are paying alot of money for SPF (SPF is very expensive, esp. SPF for your face). I suggest returning this if you really don't want to use as an SPF for your face and getting (ARGAN CERTIFIED ECO) from EBAY (cheap) for your nails and hair.

Is the protect daily sun protection the same as the daily argan moisturizer?
Bought a small bottle of the argan daily moisturizer. Loved it, now trying to buy it in a bigger bottle. However, this product seems similar, but different (it doesn't say argan daily moisturizer on it) and it is marketed more as a sunscreen.

Yes it's the same when I first started using it. It was considered a moisturizer and if you use it with the oil it's not necessary to use another moisturizer with it. I live in Hawaii (read: humid climate) AND have oily skin and I love this. I have been very impressed with this product - it absorbs nicely into my skin, doesn't make it shiny, and doesn't leave my face looking white (like many other natural sunscreens). If I'm wearing makeup, I also layer on Bare Essentials oil-control primer and the combo is great.
